- あすのことを 誇ってはならない， 一日のうちに 何がおこるかを ／知ることができないからだ．
- 自分の 口をもって 自らをほめることなく， 他人にほめさせよ． 自分のくちびるをもってせず， ほかの 人にあなたをほめさせよ．
- 石は 重く， 砂も 輕くはない， しかし 愚かな 者の 怒りはこの 二つよりも 重い．
- 憤りはむごく， 怒りははげしい， しかしねたみの 前には， だれが 立ちえよう．
- あからさまに 戒めるのは， ひそかに 愛するのにまさる．
