- その 次の 日に， 一行は カイザリヤ に 着いた． コルネリオ は 親族や 親しい 友人たちを 呼び 集めて， 待っていた．
- ペテロ がいよいよ 到着すると， コルネリオ は 出迎えて， 彼の 足もとにひれ 伏して 拜した．
- すると ペテロ は， 彼を 引き 起して 言った， 「お 立ちなさい． わたしも 同じ 人間です 」．
- それから 共に 話しながら， へやにはいって 行くと， そこには， すでに 大ぜいの 人が 集まっていた．
- ペテロ は 彼らに 言った， 「あなたがたが 知っているとおり， ユダヤ 人が 他國の 人と 交際したり， 出入りしたりすることは， 禁じられています． ところが， 神は， どんな 人間をも 淸くないとか， 汚れているとか 言ってはならないと， わたしにお 示しになりました．

- And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
- And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
- But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
- And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
- And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

- お 招きにあずかった 時， 少しもためらわずに 參ったのは， そのためなのです． そこで 伺いますが， どういうわけで， わたしを 招いてくださったのですか 」．
- これに 對して コルネリオ が 答えた， 「四日前， ちょうどこの 時刻に， わたしが 自宅で 午後三時の 祈をしていますと， 突然， 輝いた 衣を 着た 人が， 前に 立って 申しました，
- 『コルネリオ よ， あなたの 祈は 聞きいれられ， あなたの 施しは 神のみ 前におぼえられている．
- そこで ヨッパ に 人を 送って ペテロ と 呼ばれる シモン を 招きなさい． その 人は 皮なめし シモン の 海沿いの 家に 泊まっている 』．
- それで， 早速あなたをお 呼びしたのです． ようこそおいで 下さいました． 今わたしたちは， 主があなたにお 告げになったことを 殘らず 伺おうとして， みな 神のみ 前にまかり 出ているのです 」．

- Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?
- And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
- And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
- Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.
- Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

- そこで ペテロ は 口を 開いて 言った， 「神は 人をかたよりみないかたで，
- 神を 敬い 義を 行う 者はどの 國民でも 受けいれて 下さることが， ほんとうによくわかってきました．
- あなたがたは， 神がすべての 者の 主なる イエス · キリスト によって 平和の 福音を 宣べ 傳えて， イスラエル の 子らにお 送り 下さった 御言をご 存じでしょう．
- それは， ヨハネ が バプテスマ を 說いた 後， ガリラヤ から 始まって ユダヤ 全土にひろまった 福音を 述べたものです．
- 神は ナザレ の イエス に 聖靈と 力とを 注がれました． この イエス は， 神が 共におられるので， よい ¿きをしながら， また 惡魔に 押えつけられている 人¿をことごとくいやしながら， 巡回されました．

- Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
- But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
- The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
- That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
- How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

- わたしたちは， イエス がこうして ユダヤ 人の 地や エルサレム でなさったすべてのことの 證人であります． 人¿はこの イエス を 木にかけて 殺したのです．
- しかし 神は イエス を 三日目によみがえらせ，
- 全部の 人¿にではなかったが， わたしたち 證人としてあらかじめ 選ばれた 者たちに 現れるようにして 下さいました． わたしたちは， イエス が 死人の 中から 復活された 後， 共に 飮食しました．
- それから， イエス ご 自身が 生者と 死者との 審判者として 神に 定められたかたであることを， 人¿に 宣べ 傳え， またあかしするようにと， 神はわたしたちにお 命じになったのです．
- 預言者たちもみな， イエス を 信じる 者はことごとく， その 名によって 罪のゆるしが 受けられると， あかしをしています 」．

- And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
- Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
- Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
- And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
- To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

- ペテロ がこれらの 言葉をまだ 語り 終えないうちに， それを 聞いていたみんなの 人たちに， 聖靈がくだった．
- 割禮を 受けている 信者で， ペテロ についてきた 人たちは， 異邦人たちにも 聖靈の 賜物が 注がれたのを 見て， 驚いた．
- それは， 彼らが 異言を 語って 神をさんびしているのを 聞いたからである． そこで， ペテロ が 言い 出した，
- 「この 人たちがわたしたちと 同じように 聖靈を 受けたからには， 彼らに 水で バプテスマ を 授けるのを， だれがこばみ 得ようか 」．
- こう 言って， ペテロ はその 人¿に 命じて， イエス · キリスト の 名によって バプテスマ を 受けさせた． それから， 彼らは ペテロ に 願って， なお 數日のあいだ 滯在してもらった．

- While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
- And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
- Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
- And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
