- わたしたちが アドリヤ 海に 漂ってから 十四日目の 夜になった 時， 眞夜中ごろ， 水夫らはどこかの 陸地に 近づいたように 感じた．
- そこで， 水の 深さを 測ってみたところ， 二十ひろであることがわかった． それから 少し 進んで， もう 一度測ってみたら， 十五ひろであった．
- わたしたちが， 万一暗礁に 乘り 上げては 大變だと， 人¿は 氣づかって， ともから 四つのいかりを 投げおろし， 夜の 明けるのを 待ちわびていた．
- その 時， 水夫らが 舟から 逃げ 出そうと 思って， へさきからいかりを 投げおろすと 見せかけ， 小舟を 海におろしていたので，
- パウロ は， 百卒長や 兵卒たちに 言った， 「あの 人たちが， 舟に 殘っていなければ， あなたがたは 助からない 」．

- But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;
- And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.
- Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.
- And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,
- Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

- そこで 兵卒たちは， 小舟の 綱を 斷ち 切って， その 流れて 行くままに 任せた．
- 夜が 明けかけたころ， パウロ は 一同の 者に， 食事をするように 勸めて 言った， 「あなたがたが 食事もせずに， 見張りを 續けてから， 何も 食べないで， きょうが 十四日目に 當る．
- だから， いま 食事を 取ることをお 勸めする． それが， あなたがたを 救うことになるのだから． たしかに 髮の 毛ひとすじでも， あなたがたの 頭から 失われることはないであろう 」．
- 彼はこう 言って， パン を 取り， みんなの 前で 神に 感謝し， それをさいて 食べはじめた．
- そこで， みんなの 者も 元氣づいて 食事をした．

- Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.
- And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.
- Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
- And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.
- Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

- 舟にいたわたしたちは， 合わせて 二百七十六人であった．
- みんなの 者は， じゅうぶんに 食事をした 後， 穀物を 海に 投げすてて 舟を 輕くした．
- 夜が 明けて， どこの 土地かよくわからなかったが， 砂浜のある 入江が 見えたので， できれば， それに 舟を 乘り 入れようということになった．
- そこで， いかりを 切り 離して 海に 捨て， 同時にかじの 綱をゆるめ， 風に 前の 帆をあげて， 砂浜にむかって 進んだ．
- ところが， 潮流の 流れ 合う 所に 突き 進んだため， 舟を 淺瀨に 乘りあげてしまって， へさきがめり ¿んで 動かなくなり， ともの 方は 激浪のためにこわされた．

- And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.
- And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.
- And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.
- And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.
- And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

- 兵卒たちは， 囚人らが 泳いで 逃げるおそれがあるので， 殺してしまおうと 圖ったが，
- 百卒長は， パウロ を 救いたいと 思うところから， その 意圖をしりぞけ， 泳げる 者はまず 海に 飛び ¿んで 陸に 行き，
- その 他の 者は， 板や 舟の 破片に 乘って 行くように 命じた． こうして， 全部の 者が 上陸して 救われたのであった．

- And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.
- But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:
- And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
