- わが 子よ， 主の 懲らしめを 輕んじてはならない， その 戒めをきらってはならない．
- 主は， 愛する 者を， 戒められるからである， あたかも 父がその 愛する 子を 戒めるように．
- 知惠を 求めて 得る 人， 悟りを 得る 人はさいわいである．
- 知惠によって 得るものは， 銀によって 得るものにまさり， その 利益は 精金よりも 良いからである．
- 知惠は 寶石よりも 尊く， あなたの 望む 何物も， これと 比べるに 足りない．

- My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
- For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
- Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
- For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
- She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
