- それだから， キリスト は 新しい 契約の 仲保者なのである． それは， 彼が 初めの 契約のもとで 犯した 罪過をあがなうために 死なれた 結果， 召された 者たちが， 約束された 永遠の 國を 受け 繼ぐためにほかならない．
- いったい， 遺言には， 遺言者の 死の 證明が 必要である．
- 遺言は 死によってのみその 效力を 生じ， 遺言者が 生きている 間は， 效力がない．
- だから， 初めの 契約も， 血を 流すことなしに 成立したのではない．
- すなわち， モ ― セ が， 律法に 從ってすべての 戒めを 民全體に 宣言したとき， 水と 赤色の 羊毛と ヒソプ との 外に， 子牛とやぎとの 血を 取って， 契約書と 民全體とにふりかけ，

- And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
- For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
- For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
- Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
- For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

- そして， 「これは， 神があなたがたに 對して 立てられた 契約の 血である 」と 言った．
- 彼はまた， 幕屋と 儀式用の 器具いっさいにも， 同樣に 血をふりかけた．
- こうして， ほとんどすべての 物が， 律法に 從い， 血によってきよめられたのである． 血を 流すことなしには， 罪のゆるしはあり 得ない．
- このように， 天にあるもののひな 型は， これらのものできよめられる 必要があるが， 天にあるものは， これらより 更にすぐれたいけにえで， きよめられねばならない．
- ところが， キリスト は， ほんとうのものの 模型にすぎない， 手で 造った 聖所にはいらないで， 上なる 天にはいり， 今やわたしたちのために 神のみまえに 出て 下さったのである．

- Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
- Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
- And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
- It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
- For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

- 大祭司は， 年ごとに， 自分以外のものの 血をたずさえて 聖所にはいるが， キリスト は， そのように， たびたびご 自身をささげられるのではなかった．
- もしそうだとすれば， 世の 初めから， たびたび 苦難を 受けねばならなかったであろう． しかし 事實， ご 自身をいけにえとしてささげて 罪を 取り 除くために， 世の 終りに， 一度だけ 現れたのである．
- そして， 一度だけ 死ぬことと， 死んだ 後さばきを 受けることとが， 人間に 定まっているように，
- キリスト もまた， 多くの 人の 罪を 負うために， 一度だけご 自身をささげられた 後， 彼を 待ち 望んでいる 人¿に， 罪を 負うためではなしに 二度目に 現れて， 救を 與えられるのである．

- Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
- For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
- And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
- So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
