요나

본서는 요나의 니느웨 구원 사건을 통하여 이방인에게 미치는 하나님의 구원의 손길을 명확하게 보여 주고 있으며, 사흘 간 물고기의 뱃속에 갇힌 요나 사건을 통해서 예수님의 부활 사건을 예표하고 있다.

요나는 니느웨 선교 소명을 받았으나 불순종하여 하나님을 피해 달아난다. 그러나 하나님의 섭리로 물고기에게 삼키우게 된다. 이에 요나는 회개하고 소명을 감당한다. 니느웨는 요나의 외침을 듣고 회개하여 심판을 면하게 된다. 그러자 이를 본 요나는 하나님께 불평하지만, 하나님께서는 그에게 박 넝쿨의 교훈을 통해 하나님은 만민의 하나님이심을 깨우쳐 주신다.

	요나 1:1-4:11 요나는 하나님의 말씀을 전하도록 니느웨로 보내심을 받았으나 순종치 않고 배를 타고 도망하였다. 그러나 하나님께서 풍랑을 보내셔서 파선하게 되자, 그는 자신의 죄를 고백하고 바다에 던져졌다. 큰 물고기에게 삼켜져 그 뱃속에서 3일 간 회개하고 구원받은 요나는 니느웨(TM)에서 회개를 외쳤다. 그러나 그들이 회개하고 구원받자 하나님께 화를 내며 불평하였다. 이에 하나님께서는 박 넝쿨을 통해 그를 교훈하셨다.

	요나 선지자(1:1-4:11)

主の言葉がアミッタイの子ヨナに臨んで言った，

「立って，あの大きな町ニネベに行き，これに向かって呼ばわれ．彼らの惡がわたしの前に上ってきたからである」．

しかしヨナは主の前を離れてタルシシへのがれようと，立ってヨッパに下って行った．ところがちょうど，タルシシへ行く船があったので，船賃を拂い，主の前を離れて，人¿と共にタルシシへ行こうと船に乘った．

時に，主は大風を海の上に起されたので，船が破れるほどの激しい暴風が海の上にあった．

それで水夫たちは恐れて，めいめい自分の神を呼び求め，また船を輕くするため，その中の積み荷を海に投げ捨てた．しかし，ヨナは船の奧に下り，伏して熟睡していた．

Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.

But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.

Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep.

そこで船長は來て，彼に言った，「あなたはどうして眠っているのか．起きて，あなたの神に呼ばわりなさい．神があるいは，われわれを顧みて，助けてくださるだろう」．

やがて人¿は互に言った，「この災がわれわれに臨んだのは，だれのせいか知るために，さあ，くじを引いてみよう」．そして彼らが，くじを引いたところ，くじはヨナに當った．

そこで人¿はヨナに言った，「この災がだれのせいで，われわれに臨んだのか，われわれに告げなさい．あなたの職業は何か．あなたはどこから來たのか．あなたの國はどこか．あなたはどこの民か」．

ヨナは彼らに言った，「わたしはヘブルびとです．わたしは海と陸とをお造りになった天の神，主を恐れる者です」．

そこで人¿ははなはだしく恐れて，彼に言った，「あなたはなんたる事をしてくれたのか」．人¿は彼がさきに彼らに告げた事によって，彼が主の前を離れて，のがれようとしていた事を知っていたからである．

So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.

And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

Then said they unto him, Tell us, we pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us; What is thine occupation? and whence comest thou? what is thy country? and of what people art thou?

And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.

Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him. Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.

人¿は彼に言った，「われわれのために海が靜まるには，あなたをどうしたらよかろうか」．それは海がますます荒れてきたからである．

ヨナは彼らに言った，「わたしを取って海に投げ入れなさい．そうしたら海は，あなたがたのために靜まるでしょう．わたしにはよくわかっています．この激しい暴風があなたがたに臨んだのは，わたしのせいです」．

しかし人¿は船を陸にこぎもどそうとつとめたが，成功しなかった．それは海が彼らに逆らって，いよいよ荒れたからである．

そこで人¿は主に呼ばわって言った，「主よ，どうぞ，この人の生命のために，われわれを滅ぼさないでください．また罪なき血を，われわれに歸しないでください．主よ，これはみ心に從って，なされた事だからです」．

そして彼らはヨナを取って海に投げ入れた．すると海の荒れるのがやんだ．

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.

Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.

So they look up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.

そこで人¿は大いに主を恐れ， ¿牲を主にささげて，誓願を立てた．

主は大いなる魚を備えて，ヨナをのませられた．ヨナは三日三夜その魚の腹の中にいた．

Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.

Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

ヨナは魚の腹の中からその神，主に祈って，

言った，「わたしは惱みのうちから主に呼ばわると，主はわたしに答えられた．わたしが陰府の腹の中から叫ぶと，あなたはわたしの聲を聞かれた．

あなたはわたしを淵の中，海のまん中に投げ入れられた．大水はわたしをめぐり，あなたの波と大波は皆，わたしの上を越えて行った．

わたしは言った，『わたしはあなたの前から追われてしまった，どうして再びあなたの聖なる宮を望みえようか』．

水がわたしをめぐって魂にまでおよび，淵はわたしを取り圍み，海草は山の根元でわたしの頭にまといついた．

Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

わたしは地に下り，地の貫の木はいつもわたしの上にあった．しかしわが神，主よ，あなたはわが命を穴から救いあげられた．

わが魂がわたしのうちに弱っているとき，わたしは主をおぼえ，わたしの祈はあなたに至り，あなたの聖なる宮に達した．

むなしい偶像に心を寄せる者は，そのまことの忠節を捨てる．

しかしわたしは感謝の聲をもって，あなたに ¿牲をささげ，わたしの誓いをはたす．救は主にある」．

主は魚にお命じになったので，魚はヨナを陸に吐き出した．

I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

時に主の言葉は再びヨナに臨んで言った，

「立って，あの大きな町ニネベに行き，あなたに命じる言葉をこれに傳えよ」．

そこでヨナは主の言葉に從い，立って，ニネベに行った．ニネベは非常に大きな町であって，これを行きめぐるには，三日を要するほどであった．

ヨナはその町にはいり，初め一日路を行きめぐって呼ばわり，「四十日を經たらニネベは滅びる」と言った．

そこでニネベの人¿は神を信じ，斷食をふれ，大きい者から小さい者まで荒布を着た．

And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.

And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

このうわさがニネベの王に達すると，彼はその王座から立ち上がり，朝服を脫ぎ，荒布をまとい，灰の中に座した．

また王とその大臣の布告をもって，ニネベ中にふれさせて言った，「人も ¿も牛も羊もみな，何をも味わってはならない．物を食い，水を飮んではならない．

人も ¿も荒布をまとい，ひたすら神に呼ばわり，おのおのその惡い道およびその手にある强暴を離れよ．

あるいは神はみ心をかえ，その激しい怒りをやめて，われわれを滅ぼされないかもしれない．だれがそれを知るだろう」．

神は彼らのなすところ，その惡い道を離れたのを見られ，彼らの上に下そうと言われた災を思いかえして，これをおやめになった．

For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

ところがヨナはこれを非常に不快として，激しく怒り，

主に祈って言った，「主よ，わたしがなお國におりました時，この事を申したではありませんか．それでこそわたしは，急いでタルシシにのがれようとしたのです．なぜなら，わたしはあなたが惠み深い神，あわれみあり，怒ることおそく，いつくしみ豊かで，災を思いかえされることを，知っていたからです．

それで主よ，どうぞ今わたしの命をとってください．わたしにとっては，生きるよりも死ぬ方がましだからです」．

主は言われた，「あなたの怒るのは，よいことであろうか」．

そこでヨナは町から出て，町の東の方に座し，そこに自分のために一つの小屋を造り，町のなりゆきを見きわめようと，その下の日陰にすわっていた．

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live.

Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?

So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.

時に主なる神は，ヨナを暑さの苦痛から救うために，とうごまを備えて，それを育て，ヨナの頭の上に日陰を設けた．ヨナはこのとうごまを非常に喜んだ．

ところが神は翌日の夜明けに蟲を備えて，そのとうごまをかませられたので，それは枯れた．

やがて太陽が出たとき，神が暑い東風を備え，また太陽がヨナの頭を照したので，ヨナは弱りはて，死ぬことを願って言った，「生きるよりも死ぬ方がわたしにはましだ」．

しかし神はヨナに言われた，「とうごまのためにあなたの怒るのはよくない」．ヨナは言った，「わたしは怒りのあまり狂い死にそうです」．

主は言われた，「あなたは勞せず，育てず，一夜に生じて，一夜に滅びたこのとうごまをさえ，惜しんでいる．

And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.

But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.

And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:

ましてわたしは十二万あまりの，右左をわきまえない人¿と，あまたの家畜とのいるこの大きな町ニネベを，惜しまないでいられようか」．

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more then sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
