- 主人が 歸ってきたとき， 目を 覺しているのを 見られる 僕たちは， さいわいである． よく 言っておく． 主人が 帶をしめて 僕たちを 食卓につかせ， 進み 寄って 給仕をしてくれるであろう．
- 主人が 夜中ごろ， あるいは 夜明けごろに 歸ってきても， そうしているのを 見られるなら， その 人たちはさいわいである．
- このことを， わきまえているがよい． 家の 主人は， 盜賊がいつごろ 來るかわかっているなら， 自分の 家に 押し 入らせはしないであろう．

- その 僕の 主人は 思いがけない 日， 氣がつかない 時に 歸って 來るであろう． そして， 彼を 嚴罰に 處して， 不忠實なものたちと 同じ 目にあわせるであろう．
- 主人のこころを 知っていながら， それに 從って 用意もせず 勤めもしなかった 僕は， 多くむち 打たれるであろう．
- しかし， 知らずに 打たれるようなことをした 者は， 打たれ 方が 少ないだろう． 多く 與えられた 者からは 多く 求められ， 多く 任せられた 者からは 更に 多く 要求されるのである．
- わたしは， 火を 地上に 投じるためにきたのだ． 火がすでに 燃えていたならと， わたしはどんなに 願っていることか．
