	여호수아 11:1-12:24 남부 지역의 패배 소식을 들은 가나안 북부 왕들이 연합군을 형성하여 메롬 물가에 진을 쳤으나, 이스라엘은 하나님의 도우심으로 그들을 진멸하고 북부 지역을 점령함으로써 가나안 전역을 차지했다. 이스라엘에게 패망한 이방 왕들의 명단을 기록함으로써 가나안 정복 기사를 끝맺었다.

	북부 가나안 정복(11:1-11:23)

ハゾルの王ヤビンは，これを聞いて，マドンの王ヨバブ，シムロンの王，およびアクサフの王，

また北の山地，キンネロテの南のアラバ，平地，西の方のドルの高地におる王たち，

すなわち，東西のカナンびと，アモリびと，ヘテびと，ペリジびと，山地のエブスびと，ミヅパの地にあるヘルモンのふもとのヒビびとに使者をつかわした．

そして彼らは，そのすべての軍勢を率いて出てきた．その大軍は浜べの砂のように數多く，馬と戰車も，ひじょうに多かった．

これらの王たちはみな軍を集め，進んできて，共にメロムの水のほとりに陣をしき，イスラエルと戰おうとした．

Then it came about, when Jabin king of Hazor heard of it, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon and to the king of Shimron and to the king of Achshaph,

and to the kings who were of the north in the hill country, and in the Arabah--south of Chinneroth and in the lowland and on the heights of Dor on the west--

to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

They came out, they and all their armies with them, as many people as the sand that is on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots.

So all of these kings having agreed to meet, came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

その時，主はヨシュアに言われた，「彼らのゆえに恐れてはならない．あすの今ごろ，わたしは彼らを皆イスラエルに渡して，ことごとく殺させるであろう．あなたは彼らの馬の足の筋を切り，戰車を火で燒かなければならない」．

そこでヨシュアは，すべてのいくさびとを率いて，にわかにメロムの水のほとりにおし寄せ，彼らを襲った．

主は彼らをイスラエルの手に渡されたので，これを擊ち破り，大シドンおよびミスレポテ · マイムまで，これを追擊し，東の方では，ミヅパの谷まで彼らを追い，ついにひとりも殘さず擊ちとった．

ヨシュアは主が命じられたとおりに彼らに行い，彼らの馬の足の筋を切り，戰車を火で燒いた．

その時，ヨシュアはひきかえして，ハゾルを取り，つるぎをもって，その王を擊った．ハゾルは昔，これらすべての國¿の盟主であったからである．

Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow at this time I will deliver all of them slain before Israel; you shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire."

So Joshua and all the people of war with him came upon them suddenly by the waters of Merom, and attacked them.

The LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, so that they defeated them, and pursued them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim and the valley of Mizpeh to the east; and they struck them until no survivor was left to them.

Joshua did to them as the LORD had told him; he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

Then Joshua turned back at that time, and captured Hazor and struck its king with the sword; for Hazor formerly was the head of all these kingdoms.

彼らはつるぎをもって，その中のすべての人を擊ち，ことごとくそれを滅ぼし，息のあるものは，ひとりも殘さなかった．そして火をもってハゾルを燒いた．

ヨシュアはこれらの王たちのすべての町¿，およびその諸王を取り，つるぎをもって，これを擊ち，ことごとく滅ぼした．主のしもべモ ― セが命じたとおりであった．

ただし，丘の上に立っている町¿をイスラエルは燒かなかった．ヨシュアはただハゾルだけを燒いた．

これらの町のすべてのぶんどり物と家畜とは，イスラエルの人¿が戰利品として取ったが，人はみなつるぎをもって，滅ぼし盡し，息のあるものは，ひとりも殘さなかった．

主がそのしもべモ ― セに命じられたように，モ ― セはヨシュアに命じたが，ヨシュアはそのとおりにおこなった．すべて主がモ ― セに命じられたことで，ヨシュアが行わなかったことは一つもなかった．

They struck every person who was in it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them; there was no one left who breathed. And he burned Hazor with fire.

Joshua captured all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them; just as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded.

However, Israel did not burn any cities that stood on their mounds, except Hazor alone, which Joshua burned.

All the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the sons of Israel took as their plunder; but they struck every man with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them. They left no one who breathed.

Just as the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.

こうしてヨシュアはその全地，すなわち，山地，ネゲブの全地，ゴセンの全地，平地，アラバならびにイスラエルの山地と平地を取り，

セイルへ上って行く道のハラク山から，ヘルモン山のふもとのレバノンの谷にあるバアルガデまでを獲た．そしてそれらの王たちを，ことごとく捕えて，擊ち殺した．

ヨシュアはこれらすべての王たちと，長いあいだ戰った．

ギベオンの住民ヒビびとのほかには，イスラエルの人¿と和を講じた町は一つもなかった．町¿はみな戰爭をして，攻め取ったものであった．

彼らが心をかたくなにして，イスラエルに攻めよせたのは，もともと主がそうさせられたので，彼らがのろわれた者となり，あわれみを受けず，ことごとく滅ぼされるためであった．主がモ ― セに命じられたとおりである．

Thus Joshua took all that land: the hill country and all the Negev, all that land of Goshen, the lowland, the Arabah, the hill country of Israel and its lowland

from Mount Halak, that rises toward Seir, even as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon at the foot of Mount Hermon And he captured all their kings and struck them down and put them to death.

Joshua waged war a long time with all these kings.

There was not a city which made peace with the sons of Israel except the Hivites living in Gibeon; they took them all in battle.

For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to meet Israel in battle in order that he might utterly destroy them, that they might receive no mercy, but that he might destroy them, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

その時，ヨシュアはまた行って，山地，ヘブロン，デビル，アナブ，ユダのすべての山地，イスラエルのすべての山地から，アナクびとを斷ち，彼らの町¿をも共に滅ぼした．

それでイスラエルの人¿の地に，アナクびとは，ひとりもいなくなった．ただガサ，ガテ，アシドドには，少し殘っているだけであった．

こうしてヨシュアはその地を，ことごとく取った．すべて主がモ ― セに告げられたとおりである．そしてヨシュアはイスラエルの部族にそれぞれの分を與えて，嗣業とさせた．こうしてその地に戰爭はやんだ．

Then Joshua came at that time and cut off the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab and from all the hill country of Judah and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.

There were no Anakim left in the land of the sons of Israel; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod some remained.

So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes Thus the land had rest from war.

	정복당한 왕들(12:1-12:24)

さてヨルダンの向こう側，日の出の方で，アルノンの谷からヘルモン山まで，および東アラバの全土のうちで，イスラエルの人¿が擊ち滅ぼして地を取った國の王たちは，次のとおりである．

まず，アモリびとの王シホン．彼はヘシボンに住み，その領地は，アルノンの谷のほとりにあるアロエル，および谷の中の町から，ギレアデの半ばを占めて，アンモンびととの境であるヤボク川に達し，

東の方ではアラバをキンネレテの湖まで占め，またアラバの海すなわち鹽の海の東におよび，ベテエシモテの道を經て，南はピスガの山のふもとに達した．

次にレパイムの生き殘りのひとりであったバシャンの王オグ．彼はアシタロテとエデレイとに住み，

ヘルモン山，サレカ，およびバシャンの全土を領したので，ゲシュルびと，およびマアカびとと境を接し，またギレアデの半ばを領したので，ヘシボンの王シホンと境を接していた．

Now these are the kings of the land whom the sons of Israel defeated, and whose land they possessed beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, from the valley of the Arnon as far as Mount Hermon, and all the Arabah to the east:

Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, both the middle of the valley and half of Gilead, even as far as the brook Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon;

and the Arabah as far as the Sea of Chinneroth toward the east, and as far as the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, eastward toward Beth-jeshimoth, and on the south, at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah;

and the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of the remnant of Rephaim, who lived at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

and ruled over Mount Hermon and Salecah and all Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and half of Gilead, as far as the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

主のしもべモ ― セと，イスラエルの人¿とが，彼らを擊ち滅ぼし，そして主のしもべモ ― セは，これらの地を，ルベンびと，ガドびと，およびマナセの半部族に與えて所有とさせた．

ヨルダンのこちら側，西の方にあって，レバノンの谷にあるバアルガデから，セイルへ上って行く道のハラク山までの間で，ヨシュアと，イスラエルの人¿とが，擊ち滅ぼした國の王たちは，次のとおりである．ヨシュアは彼らの地をイスラエルの部族に，それぞれの分を與えて嗣業とさせた．

これは，山地，平地，アラバ，山腹，荒野，およびネゲブであって，ヘテびと，アモリびと，カナンびと，ペリジびと，ヒビびと，エブスびとの所領であった．

Moses the servant of the LORD and the sons of Israel defeated them; and Moses the servant of the LORD gave it to the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh as a possession.

Now these are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the sons of Israel defeated beyond the Jordan toward the west, from Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon even as far as Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir; and Joshua gave it to the tribes of Israel as a possession according to their divisions,

in the hill country, in the lowland, in the Arabah, on the slopes, and in the wilderness, and in the Negev; the Hittite, the Amorite and the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite:

the king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;

the king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;

エグロンの王ひとり．ゲゼルの王ひとり．

デビルの王ひとり．ゲデルの王ひとり．

ホルマの王ひとり．アラデの王ひとり．

リブナの王ひとり．アドラムの王ひとり．

the king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

the king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;

the king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;

the king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

the king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

マッケダの王ひとり．ベテルの王ひとり．

タップアの王ひとり．ヘペルの王ひとり．

アペクの王ひとり．シャロンの王ひとり．

マドンの王ひとり．ハゾルの王ひとり．

シムロン · メロンの王ひとり．アクサフの王ひとり．

the king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;

the king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

the king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

the king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;

the king of Shimron-meron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;

タアナクの王ひとり．メギドの王ひとり．

ケデシの王ひとり．カルメルのヨクネアムの王ひとり．

ドルの高地におるドルの王ひとり．ガリラヤのゴイイムの王ひとり．

テルザの王ひとり．合わせて三十一王である．

the king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;

the king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam in Carmel, one;

the king of Dor in the heights of Dor, one; the king of Goiim in Gilgal, one;

the king of Tirzah, one: in all, thirty-one kings.
