	사사기 15:1-16:31 아내를 빼앗긴 삼손은 매우 분노하여 블레셋 사람의 농작물을 불태우고 나귀의 턱뼈로 일천 명을 죽였다. 그 후 삼손은 들릴라를 사랑하게 되었지만 그녀의 꾐에 빠져 자신의 힘의 비밀을 발설하였고, 결국 블레셋인들에게 잡혀 곤욕을 당했다. 블레셋 신전에서 조롱당하던 삼손은 하나님께 간구하여 신전 기둥을 무너뜨림으로써 많은 블레셋 사람들을 죽이고 자신도 최후를 맞았다.

	삼손의 보복(15:1-15:20)

日がたって後，麥刈の時にサムソンは子やぎを携えて妻をおとずれ，「へやにはいって，妻に會いましょう」と言ったが，妻の父ははいることを許さなかった．

そして父は言った，「あなたが確かに彼女をきらったに相違ないと思ったので，わたしは彼女をあなたの客であった者にやりました．彼女の妹は彼女よりもきれいではありませんか．どうぞ，彼女の代りに妹をめとってください」．

サムソンは彼らに言った，「今度はわたしがペリシテびとに害を加えても，彼らのことでは，わたしに罪がない」．

そこでサムソンは行って，きつね三百匹を捕え，たいまつをとり，尾と尾をあわせて，その二つの尾の間に一つのたいまつを結びつけ，

たいまつに火をつけて，そのきつねをペリシテびとのまだ刈らない麥の中に放し入れ，そのたばね積んだものと，まだ刈らないものとを燒き，オリブ畑をも燒いた．

Later on, at the time of wheat harvest, Samson took a young goat and went to visit his wife. He said, "I'm going to my wife's room." But her father would not let him go in.

"I was so sure you thoroughly hated her," he said, "that I gave her to your friend. Isn't her younger sister more attractive? Take her instead."

Samson said to them, "This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines; I will really harm them."

So he went out and caught three hundred foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails,

lit the torches and let the foxes loose in the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves.

ペリシテびとは言った，「これはだれのしわざか」．人¿は言った，「テムナびとの ¿ サムソンだ．そのしゅうとがサムソンの妻を取り返して，その客であった者に與えたからだ」．そこでペリシテびとは上ってきて彼女とその父の家を火で燒き拂った．

When the Philistines asked, "Who did this?" they were told, "Samson, the Timnite's son-in-law, because his wife was given to his friend." So the Philistines went up and burned her and her father to death.

Samson said to them, "Since you've acted like this, I won't stop until I get my revenge on you."

He attacked them viciously and slaughtered many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etam.

The Philistines went up and camped in Judah, spreading out near Lehi.

The men of Judah asked, "Why have you come to fight us?" "We have come to take Samson prisoner," they answered, "to do to him as he did to us."

そこでユダの人¿三千人がエタムの岩の裂け目に下って行って，サムソンに言った，「ペリシテびとはわれわれの支配者であることをあなたは知らないのですか．あなたはどうしてわれわれにこんな事をしたのですか」．サムソンは彼らに言った，「彼らがわたしにしたように，わたしは彼らにしたのです」．

Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Etam and said to Samson, "Don't you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us? What have you done to us?" He answered, "I merely did to them what they did to me."

They said to him, "We've come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines." Samson said, "Swear to me that you won't kill me yourselves."

"Agreed," they answered. "We will only tie you up and hand you over to them. We will not kill you." So they bound him with two new ropes and led him up from the rock.

As he approached Lehi, the Philistines came toward him shouting. The Spirit of the LORD came upon him in power. The ropes on his arms became like charred flax, and the bindings dropped from his hands.

Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.

そしてサムソンは言った，／「ろばのあご骨をもって山また山を築き，／ろばのあご骨をもって一千人を打ち殺した」．

彼は言い終ると，その手からあご骨を投げすてた．これがためにその所は「あご骨の丘」と呼ばれた．

サムソンはペリシテびとの時代に二十年の間イスラエルをさばいた．

Then Samson said, "With a donkey's jawbone I have made donkeys of them. With a donkey's jawbone I have killed a thousand men."

When he finished speaking, he threw away the jawbone; and the place was called Ramath Lehi.

Because he was very thirsty, he cried out to the LORD, "You have given your servant this great victory. Must I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?"

Then God opened up the hollow place in Lehi, and water came out of it. When Samson drank, his strength returned and he revived. So the spring was called En Hakkore, and it is still there in Lehi.

Samson led Israel for twenty years in the days of the Philistines.

	삼손의 죽음(16:1-16:31)

サムソンはガザへ行って，そこでひとりの遊女を見，その女のところにはいった．

「サムソンがここにきた」と，ガザの人¿に告げるものがあったので，ガザの人¿はその所を取り圍み，夜通し町の門で待ち伏せし，「われわれは朝まで待って彼を殺そう」と言って，夜通し靜かにしていた．

サムソンは夜中まで寢たが，夜中に起きて，町の門のとびらと二つの門柱に手をかけて，貫の木もろともに引き拔き，肩に載せて，ヘブロンの向かいにある山の頂に運んで行った．

この後，サムソンはソレクの谷にいるデリラという女を愛した．

ペリシテびとの君たちはその女のところにきて言った，「あなたはサムソンを說きすすめて，彼の大力はどこにあるのか，またわれわれはどうすれば彼に勝って，彼を縛り苦しめることができるかを見つけなさい．そうすればわれわれはおのおの銀千百枚ずつをあなたにさしあげましょう」．

One day Samson went to Gaza, where he saw a prostitute. He went in to spend the night with her.

The people of Gaza were told, "Samson is here!" So they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the city gate. They made no move during the night, saying, "At dawn we'll kill him."

But Samson lay there only until the middle of the night. Then he got up and took hold of the doors of the city gate, together with the two posts, and tore them loose, bar and all. He lifted them to his shoulders and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron.

Some time later, he fell in love with a woman in the Valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah.

The rulers of the Philistines went to her and said, "See if you can lure him into showing you the secret of his great strength and how we can overpower him so we may tie him up and subdue him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver."

そこでデリラはサムソンに言った，「あなたの大力はどこにあるのか，またどうすればあなたを縛って苦しめることができるか，どうぞわたしに聞かせてください」．

サムソンは女に言った，「人¿がもし，かわいたことのない七本の新しい弓弦をもってわたしを縛るなら，わたしは弱くなってほかの人のようになるでしょう」．

そこでペリシテびとの君たちが，かわいたことのない七本の新しい弓弦を女に持ってきたので，女はそれをもってサムソンを縛った．

女はかねて奧のへやに人を忍ばせておいて，サムソンに言った，「サムソンよ，ペリシテびとがあなたに迫っています」．しかしサムソンはその弓弦を，あたかも亞麻絲が火にあって斷たれるように斷ち切った．こうして彼の力の秘密は知れなかった．

デリラはサムソンに言った，「あなたはわたしを欺いて，うそを言いました．どうしたらあなたを縛ることができるか，どうぞ今わたしに聞かせてください」．

So Delilah said to Samson, "Tell me the secret of your great strength and how you can be tied up and subdued."

Samson answered her, "If anyone ties me with seven fresh thongs that have not been dried, I'll become as weak as any other man."

Then the rulers of the Philistines brought her seven fresh thongs that had not been dried, and she tied him with them.

With men hidden in the room, she called to him, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" But he snapped the thongs as easily as a piece of string snaps when it comes close to a flame. So the secret of his strength was not discovered.

Then Delilah said to Samson, "You have made a fool of me; you lied to me. Come now, tell me how you can be tied."

サムソンは女に言った，「もし人¿がまだ用いたことのない新しい綱をもって，わたしを縛るなら，弱くなってほかの人のようになるでしょう」．

そこでデリラは新しい綱をとり，それをもって彼を縛り，そして彼に言った，「サムソンよ，ペリシテびとがあなたに迫っています」．時に人¿は奧のへやに忍んでいたが，サムソンはその綱を絲のように腕から斷ち落した．

そこで女はサムソンに言った，「あなたの心がわたしを離れているのに，どうして『おまえを愛する』と言うことができますか．あなたはすでに三度もわたしを欺き，あなたの大力がどこにあるかをわたしに告げませんでした」．

He said, "If anyone ties me securely with new ropes that have never been used, I'll become as weak as any other man."

So Delilah took new ropes and tied him with them. Then, with men hidden in the room, she called to him, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" But he snapped the ropes off his arms as if they were threads.

Delilah then said to Samson, "Until now, you have been making a fool of me and lying to me. Tell me how you can be tied." He replied, "If you weave the seven braids of my head into the fabric on the loom and tighten it with the pin, I'll become as weak as any other man." So while he was sleeping, Delilah took the seven braids of his head, wove them into the fabric

and tightened it with the pin. Again she called to him, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" He awoke from his sleep and pulled up the pin and the loom, with the fabric.

Then she said to him, "How can you say, 'I love you,' when you won't confide in me? This is the third time you have made a fool of me and haven't told me the secret of your great strength."

女は每日その言葉をもって彼に迫り促したので，彼の魂は死ぬばかりに苦しんだ．

彼はついにその心をことごとく打ち明けて女に言った，「わたしの頭にはかみそりを當てたことがありません．わたしは生れた時から神にささげられたナジルびとだからです．もし髮をそり落されたなら，わたしの力は去って弱くなり，ほかの人のようになるでしょう」．

デリラはサムソンがその心をことごとく打ち明けたのを見，人をつかわしてペリシテびとの君たちを呼んで言った，「サムソンはその心をことごとくわたしに打ち明けましたから，今度こそ上っておいでなさい」．そこでペリシテびとの君たちは，銀を携えて女のもとに上ってきた．

女は自分のひざの上にサムソンを眠らせ，人を呼んで髮の毛，七ふさをそり落させ，彼を苦しめ始めたが，その力は彼を去っていた．

そして女が「サムソンよ，ペリシテびとがあなたに迫っています」と言ったので，彼は目をさまして言った，「わたしはいつものように出て行って，からだをゆすろう」．彼は主が自分を去られたことを知らなかった．

With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was tired to death.

So he told her everything. "No razor has ever been used on my head," he said, "because I have been a Nazirite set apart to God since birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man."

When Delilah saw that he had told her everything, she sent word to the rulers of the Philistines, "Come back once more; he has told me everything." So the rulers of the Philistines returned with the silver in their hands.

Having put him to sleep on her lap, she called a man to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him. And his strength left him.

Then she called, "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!" He awoke from his sleep and thought, "I'll go out as before and shake myself free." But he did not know that the LORD had left him.

そこでペリシテびとは彼を捕えて，兩眼をえぐり，ガザに引いて行って，靑銅の足かせをかけて彼をつないだ．こうしてサムソンは獄屋の中で，うすをひいていたが，

その髮の毛はそり落された後，ふたたび伸び始めた．

さてペリシテびとの君たちは，彼らの神ダゴンに大いなる ¿牲をささげて祝をしようと，共に集まって言った，「われわれの神は，敵サムソンをわれわれの手にわたされた」．

民はサムソンを見て，自分たちの神をほめたたえて言った，「われわれの神は，われわれの國を荒し，われわれを多く殺した敵をわれわれの手にわたされた」．

彼らはまた心に喜んで言った，「サムソンを呼んで，われわれのために戱れ事をさせよう」．彼らは獄屋からサムソンを呼び出して，彼らの前に戱れ事をさせた．彼らがサムソンを柱のあいだに立たせると，

Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding in the prison.

But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

Now the rulers of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god and to celebrate, saying, "Our god has delivered Samson, our enemy, into our hands."

When the people saw him, they praised their god, saying, "Our god has delivered our enemy into our hands, the one who laid waste our land and multiplied our slain."

While they were in high spirits, they shouted, "Bring out Samson to entertain us." So they called Samson out of the prison, and he performed for them. When they stood him among the pillars,

サムソンは自分の手をひいている若者に言った，「わたしの手を放して，この家をささえている柱をさぐらせ，それに寄りかからせてください」．

その家には男女が滿ち，ペリシテびとの君たちも皆そこにいた．また屋根の上には三千人ばかりの男女がいて，サムソンの戱れ事をするのを見ていた．

サムソンは主に呼ばわって言った，「ああ，主なる神よ，どうぞ，わたしを覺えてください．ああ，神よ，どうぞもう一度，わたしを强くして，わたしの二つの目の一つのためにでもペリシテびとにあだを報いさせてください」．

そしてサムソンは，その家をささえている二つの中柱の一つを右の手に，一つを左の手にかかえて，身をそれに寄せ，

「わたしはペリシテびとと共に死のう」と言って，力をこめて身をかがめると，家はその中にいた君たちと，すべての民の上に倒れた．こうしてサムソンが死ぬときに殺したものは，生きているときに殺したものよりも多かった．

Samson said to the servant who held his hand, "Put me where I can feel the pillars that support the temple, so that I may lean against them."

Now the temple was crowded with men and women; all the rulers of the Philistines were there, and on the roof were about three thousand men and women watching Samson perform.

Then Samson prayed to the LORD, "O Sovereign LORD, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes."

Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other,

Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

やがて彼の身內の人たちおよび父の家族の者がみな下ってきて，彼を引き取り，携え上って，ゾラとエシタオルの間にある父マノアの墓に葬った．サムソンがイスラエルをさばいたのは二十年であった．

Then his brothers and his father's whole family went down to get him. They brought him back and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoah his father. He had led Israel twenty years.
