	에스겔 33:1-34:16 하나님께로부터 파수꾼의 사명을 확인받은 에스겔은 포로로 잡혀 와 있는 자들에게 회개를 촉구하며 그들이 회개하면 회복될 것이라고 전했다. 그리고 예루살렘에 남아 있는 자들에게는 그들이 죄악을 깨닫지 못하여 황폐해질 것을 예고했다. 하나님께서는 자신의 욕심만 채우고 양떼를 돌보지 않는 거짓 목자들에 대해 심판을 선언하셨고, 자신이 참목자가 되셔서 양떼를 돌보시겠다고 약속하셨다.

	파수꾼 에스겔의 사명(33:1-33:33)

主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ．

「人の子よ，あなたの同胞に語りかけ，彼らに言いなさい．わたしがある國に向かって劍を送るとき，その國の民は彼らの中から一人の人を選んで見張りとする．

彼は劍が國に向かって臨むのを見ると，角笛を吹き鳴らして民に警告する．

角笛の音を聞いた者が，聞いていながら警告を受け入れず，劍が彼に臨んで彼を殺したなら，血の責任は彼自身にある．

彼は角笛の音を聞いても警告を受け入れなかったのだから，血の責任は彼にある．彼が警告を受け入れていれば，自分の命を救いえたはずである．

The word of the LORD came to me:

"Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: 'When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman,

and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people,

then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head.

Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved himself.

しかし，見張りが，劍の臨むのを見ながら，角笛を吹かず，民が警告を受けぬままに劍が臨み，彼らのうちから一人の命でも奪われるなら，たとえその人は自分の罪のゆえに死んだとしても，血の責任をわたしは見張りの手に求める．

人の子よ，わたしはあなたをイスラエルの家の見張りとした．あなたが，わたしの口から言葉を聞いたなら，わたしの警告を彼らに傳えねばならない．

わたしが惡人に向かって，『惡人よ，お前は必ず死なねばならない』と言うとき，あなたが惡人に警告し，彼がその道から離れるように語らないなら，惡人は自分の罪のゆえに死んでも，血の責任をわたしはお前の手に求める．

しかし，もしあなたが惡人に對してその道から立ち歸るよう警告したのに，彼がその道から立ち歸らなかったのなら，彼は自分の罪のゆえに死に，あなたは自分の命を救う．

人の子よ，イスラエルの家に言いなさい．お前たちはこう言っている．『我¿の背きと過ちは我¿の上にあり，我¿はやせ衰える．どうして生きることができようか』と．

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.'

"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.

"Son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'This is what you are saying: "Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?" '

彼らに言いなさい．わたしは生きている，と主なる神は言われる．わたしは惡人が死ぬのを喜ばない．むしろ，惡人がその道から立ち歸って生きることを喜ぶ．立ち歸れ，立ち歸れ，お前たちの惡しき道から．イスラエルの家よ，どうしてお前たちは死んでよいだろうか．

人の子よ，あなたの同胞に言いなさい．正しい人の正しさも，彼が背くときには，自分を救うことができない．また，惡人の惡も，彼がその惡から立ち歸るときには，自分をつまずかせることはない．正しい人でも，過ちを犯すときには，その正しさによって生きることはできない．

Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?'

"Therefore, son of man, say to your countrymen, 'The righteousness of the righteous man will not save him when he disobeys, and the wickedness of the wicked man will not cause him to fall when he turns from it. The righteous man, if he sins, will not be allowed to live because of his former righteousness.'

If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he trusts in his righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he has done will be remembered; he will die for the evil he has done.

And if I say to the wicked man, 'You will surely die,' but he then turns away from his sin and does what is just and right-

if he gives back what he took in pledge for a loan, returns what he has stolen, follows the decrees that give life, and does no evil, he will surely live; he will not die.

彼の犯したすべての過ちは思い起こされず，正義と惠みの業を行った者は必ず生きる．

それなのに，あなたの同胞は言っている．『主の道は正しくない』と．しかし正しくないのは彼らの道である．

正しい人でも，正しさから離れて不正を行うなら，その不正のゆえに彼は死ぬ．

None of the sins he has committed will be remembered against him. He has done what is just and right; he will surely live.

"Yet your countrymen say, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' But it is their way that is not just.

If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, he will die for it.

And if a wicked man turns away from his wickedness and does what is just and right, he will live by doing so.

Yet, O house of Israel, you say, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' But I will judge each of you according to his own ways."

我¿の捕囚の第十二年十月五日に，エルサレムから逃れた者がわたしのもとに來て言った．「都は陷落した」と．

その逃れた者が來る前の晩，主の手がわたしの上に置かれ，翌朝，彼がわたしのもとに來る前に，主はわたしの口を開かれた．口が開かれて，わたしはもはや默していなかった．

In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month on the fifth day, a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said, "The city has fallen!"

Now the evening before the man arrived, the hand of the LORD was upon me, and he opened my mouth before the man came to me in the morning. So my mouth was opened and I was no longer silent.

Then the word of the LORD came to me:

"Son of man, the people living in those ruins in the land of Israel are saying, 'Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as our possession.'

Therefore say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Since you eat meat with the blood still in it and look to your idols and shed blood, should you then possess the land?

お前たちは劍を賴みとし，忌まわしいことを行い，おのおの隣人の妻を犯している．それでも，お前たちはこの土地を所有できるのか．

それゆえ，彼らにこう言いなさい．主なる神はこう言われる．わたしは生きている．廢虛にいる者たちは必ず劍に倒れる．野にいる者はすべて， ¿に餌食として與え，砦と洞穴にいる者たちは疫病によって死ぬ．

わたしはこの土地を荒れ地とし，荒廢した土地とする．この土地が誇った力はうせ，イスラエルの山¿は荒れ果て，そこを通る者はなくなる．

彼らが行ったすべての忌まわしいことのゆえに，わたしがこの土地を荒れ地とし，荒廢した地にするとき，彼らはわたしが主であることを知るようになる．

You rely on your sword, you do detestable things, and each of you defiles his neighbor's wife. Should you then possess the land?'

"Say this to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: As surely as I live, those who are left in the ruins will fall by the sword, those out in the country I will give to the wild animals to be devoured, and those in strongholds and caves will die of a plague.

I will make the land a desolate waste, and her proud strength will come to an end, and the mountains of Israel will become desolate so that no one will cross them.

Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have made the land a desolate waste because of all the detestable things they have done.'

"As for you, son of man, your countrymen are talking together about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, saying to each other, 'Come and hear the message that has come from the LORD.'

My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words, but they do not put them into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.

Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice.

"When all this comes true--and it surely will--then they will know that a prophet has been among them."

	거짓 목자들과 참 목자(34:1-34:16)

主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ．

「人の子よ，イスラエルの牧者たちに對して預言し，牧者である彼らに語りなさい．主なる神はこう言われる．災いだ，自分自身を養うイスラエルの牧者たちは．牧者は群れを養うべきではないか．

お前たちは乳を飮み，羊毛を身にまとい，肥えた動物を屠るが，群れを養おうとはしない．

お前たちは弱いものを强めず，病めるものをいやさず，傷ついたものを包んでやらなかった．また，追われたものを連れ戾さず，失われたものを探し求めず，かえって力ずくで，苛酷に群れを支配した．

彼らは飼う者がいないので散らされ，あらゆる野の ¿の餌食となり，ちりぢりになった．

The word of the LORD came to me:

"Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock?

You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock.

You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally.

So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals.

わたしの群れは，すべての山，すべての高い丘の上で迷う．また，わたしの群れは地の全面に散らされ，だれひとり，探す者もなく，尋ね求める者もない．

それゆえ，牧者たちよ．主の言葉を聞け．

わたしは生きている，と主なる神は言われる．まことに，わたしの群れは略奪にさらされ，わたしの群れは牧者がいないため，あらゆる野の ¿の餌食になろうとしているのに，わたしの牧者たちは群れを探しもしない．牧者は群れを養わず，自分自身を養っている．

それゆえ牧者たちよ，主の言葉を聞け．

主なる神はこう言われる．見よ，わたしは牧者たちに立ち向かう．わたしの群れを彼らの手から求め，彼らに群れを飼うことをやめさせる．牧者たちが，自分自身を養うことはもはやできない．わたしが彼らの口から群れを救い出し，彼らの餌食にはさせないからだ．

My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered over the whole earth, and no one searched or looked for them.

" 'Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD :

As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, because my flock lacks a shepherd and so has been plundered and has become food for all the wild animals, and because my shepherds did not search for my flock but cared for themselves rather than for my flock,

therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the LORD :

This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.

まことに，主なる神はこう言われる．見よ，わたしは自ら自分の群れを探し出し，彼らの世話をする．

牧者が，自分の羊がちりぢりになっているときに，その群れを探すように，わたしは自分の羊を探す．わたしは雲と密雲の日に散らされた群れを，すべての場所から救い出す．

わたしは彼らを諸國の民の中から連れ出し，諸國から集めて彼らの土地に導く．わたしはイスラエルの山¿，谷間，また居住地で彼らを養う．

わたしは良い牧草地で彼らを養う．イスラエルの高い山¿は彼らの牧場となる．彼らはイスラエルの山¿で憩い，良い牧場と肥沃な牧草地で養われる．

わたしがわたしの群れを養い，憩わせる，と主なる神は言われる．

" 'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.

As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.

I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.

I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.

I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD.

わたしは失われたものを尋ね求め，追われたものを連れ戾し，傷ついたものを包み，弱ったものを强くする．しかし，肥えたものと强いものを滅ぼす．わたしは公平をもって彼らを養う．

I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.
