- 明日のことを 誇るな． 一日のうちに 何が 生まれるか 知らないのだから．
- 自分の 口で 自分をほめず， 他人にほめてもらえ． 自分の 唇でではなく， 異邦人にほめてもらえ．
- 石は 重く， 砂も 目方がかかる． 無知な 者が 不機嫌なのはどちらよりも 重い．
- 憤りは 殘忍， 怒りは 洪水． ねたみの 前に 誰が 耐ええようか．
- あらわな 戒めは， 隱された 愛にまさる．

- Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.
- Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but provocation by a fool is heavier than both.
