- ある 病人がいた． マリア とその 姉妹 マルタ の 村， ベタニア の 出身で， ラザロ といった．
- この マリア は 主に 香油を 塗り， 髮の 毛で 主の 足をぬぐった 女である． その 兄弟 ラザロ が 病氣であった．
- 姉妹たちは イエス のもとに 人をやって， 「主よ， あなたの 愛しておられる 者が 病氣なのです 」と 言わせた．
- イエス は， それを 聞いて 言われた． 「この 病氣は 死で 終わるものではない． 神の 榮光のためである． 神の 子がそれによって 榮光を 受けるのである． 」
- イエス は， マルタ とその 姉妹と ラザロ を 愛しておられた．

- Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
- (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
- Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
- When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
- Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

- ラザロ が 病氣だと 聞いてからも， なお 二日間同じ 所に 滯在された．
- それから， 弟子たちに 言われた． 「もう 一度， ユダヤ に 行こう． 」
- 弟子たちは 言った． 「ラビ ， ユダヤ 人たちがついこの 間もあなたを 石で 打ち 殺そうとしたのに， またそこへ 行かれるのですか． 」
- イエス はお 答えになった． 「¿間は 十二時間あるではないか． ¿のうちに 步けば， つまずくことはない． この 世の 光を 見ているからだ．
- しかし， 夜步けば， つまずく． その 人の 內に 光がないからである． 」

- When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
- Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
- His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
- Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
- But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

- こうお 話しになり， また， その 後で 言われた． 「わたしたちの 友 ラザロ が 眠っている． しかし， わたしは 彼を 起こしに 行く． 」
- 弟子たちは， 「主よ， 眠っているのであれば， 助かるでしょう 」と 言った．
- イエス は ラザロ の 死について 話されたのだが， 弟子たちは， ただ 眠りについて 話されたものと 思ったのである．
- そこで イエス は， はっきりと 言われた． 「ラザロ は 死んだのだ．
- わたしがその 場に 居合わせなかったのは， あなたがたにとってよかった． あなたがたが 信じるようになるためである． さあ， 彼のところへ 行こう． 」

- These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
- Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
- Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
- Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
- And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

- すると， ディディモ と 呼ばれる トマス が， 仲間の 弟子たちに， 「わたしたちも 行って， 一緖に 死のうではないか 」と 言った．
- さて， イエス が 行って 御覽になると， ラザロ は 墓に 葬られて 旣に 四日もたっていた．
- ベタニア は エルサレム に 近く， 十五 スタディオン ほどのところにあった．
- マルタ と マリア のところには， 多くの ユダヤ 人が， 兄弟 ラザロ のことで 慰めに 來ていた．
- マルタ は， イエス が 來られたと 聞いて， 迎えに 行ったが， マリア は 家の 中に 座っていた．

- Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
- Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
- Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
- And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
- Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

- マルタ は イエス に 言った． 「主よ， もしここにいてくださいましたら， わたしの 兄弟は 死ななかったでしょうに．
- しかし， あなたが 神にお 願いになることは 何でも 神はかなえてくださると， わたしは 今でも 承知しています． 」
- イエス が， 「あなたの 兄弟は 復活する 」と 言われると，
- マルタ は， 「終わりの 日の 復活の 時に 復活することは 存じております 」と 言った．
- イエス は 言われた． 「わたしは 復活であり， 命である． わたしを 信じる 者は， 死んでも 生きる．

- Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
- But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
- Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
- Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
- Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

- 生きていてわたしを 信じる 者はだれも， 決して 死ぬことはない． このことを 信じるか． 」
- マルタ は 言った． 「はい， 主よ， あなたが 世に 來られるはずの 神の 子， メシア であるとわたしは 信じております． 」
- マルタ は， こう 言ってから， 家に 歸って 姉妹の マリア を 呼び， 「先生がいらして， あなたをお 呼びです 」と 耳打ちした．
- マリア はこれを 聞くと， すぐに 立ち 上がり， イエス のもとに 行った．
- イエス はまだ 村には 入らず， マルタ が 出迎えた 場所におられた．

- And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
- She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
- And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
- As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
- Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

- 家の 中で マリア と 一緖にいて， 慰めていた ユダヤ 人たちは， 彼女が 急に 立ち 上がって 出て 行くのを 見て， 墓に 泣きに 行くのだろうと 思い， 後を 追った．
- マリア は イエス のおられる 所に 來て， イエス を 見るなり 足もとにひれ 伏し， 「主よ， もしここにいてくださいましたら， わたしの 兄弟は 死ななかったでしょうに 」と 言った．
- イエス は， 彼女が 泣き， 一緖に 來た ユダヤ 人たちも 泣いているのを 見て， 心に 憤りを 覺え， 興奮して，
- 言われた． 「どこに 葬ったのか． 」彼らは， 「主よ， 來て， 御覽ください 」と 言った．
- イエス は 淚を 流された．

- The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
- Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
- When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.
- And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
- Jesus wept.

- ユダヤ 人たちは， 「御覽なさい， どんなに ラザロ を 愛しておられたことか 」と 言った．
- しかし， 中には， 「盲人の 目を 開けたこの 人も， ラザロ が 死なないようにはできなかったのか 」と 言う 者もいた．
- イエス は， 再び 心に 憤りを 覺えて， 墓に 來られた． 墓は 洞穴で， 石でふさがれていた．
- イエス が， 「その 石を 取りのけなさい 」と 言われると， 死んだ ラザロ の 姉妹 マルタ が， 「主よ， 四日もたっていますから， もうにおいます 」と 言った．
- イエス は， 「もし 信じるなら， 神の 榮光が 見られると， 言っておいたではないか 」と 言われた．

- Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
- And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
- Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
- Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
- Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

- 人¿が 石を 取りのけると， イエス は 天を 仰いで 言われた． 「父よ， わたしの 願いを 聞き 入れてくださって 感謝します．
- わたしの 願いをいつも 聞いてくださることを， わたしは 知っています． しかし， わたしがこう 言うのは， 周りにいる 群衆のためです． あなたがわたしをお 遣わしになったことを， 彼らに 信じさせるためです． 」
- こう 言ってから， 「ラザロ ， 出て 來なさい 」と 大聲で 叫ばれた．
- すると， 死んでいた 人が， 手と 足を 布で 卷かれたまま 出て 來た． 顔は 覆いで 包まれていた． イエス は 人¿に， 「ほどいてやって， 行かせなさい 」と 言われた．

- Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
- And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
- And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
- And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
