- パウロ は， デルベ にも リストラ にも 行った． そこに， 信者の ユダヤ 婦人の 子で， ギリシア 人を 父親に 持つ， テモテ という 弟子がいた．
- 彼は， リストラ と イコニオン の 兄弟の 間で 評判の 良い 人であった．
- パウロ は， この テモテ を 一緖に 連れて 行きたかったので， その 地方に 住む ユダヤ 人の 手前， 彼に 割禮を 授けた． 父親が ギリシア 人であることを， 皆が 知っていたからである．
- 彼らは 方¿の 町を 巡回して， エルサレム の 使徒と 長老たちが 決めた 規定を 守るようにと， 人¿に 傳えた．
- こうして， 敎會は 信仰を 强められ， 日ごとに 人數が 增えていった．

- Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:
- Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.
- Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.
- And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
- And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

- さて， 彼らは アジア 州で 御言葉を 語ることを 聖靈から 禁じられたので， フリギア · ガラテヤ 地方を 通って 行った．
- ミシア 地方の 近くまで 行き， ビティニア 州に 入ろうとしたが， イエス の 靈がそれを 許さなかった．
- それで， ミシア 地方を 通って トロアス に 下った．
- その 夜， パウロ は 幻を 見た． その 中で 一人の マケドニア 人が 立って， 「マケドニア 州に 渡って 來て， わたしたちを 助けてください 」と 言って パウロ に 願った．
- パウロ がこの 幻を 見たとき， わたしたちはすぐに マケドニア へ 向けて 出發することにした． マケドニア 人に 福音を 告げ 知らせるために， 神がわたしたちを 召されているのだと， 確信するに 至ったからである．

- Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
- After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
- And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
- And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
- And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

- わたしたちは トロアス から 船出して サモトラケ 島に 直航し， 翌日 ネアポリス の 港に 着き，
- そこから， マケドニア 州第一區の 都市で， ロ ― マ の 植民都市である フィリピ に 行った． そして， この 町に 數日間滯在した．
- 安息日に 町の 門を 出て， 祈りの 場所があると 思われる 川岸に 行った． そして， わたしたちもそこに 座って， 集まっていた 婦人たちに 話をした．
- ティアティラ 市出身の 紫布を 商う 人で， 神をあがめる リディア という 婦人も 話を 聞いていたが， 主が 彼女の 心を 開かれたので， 彼女は パウロ の 話を 注意深く 聞いた．
- そして， 彼女も 家族の 者も 洗禮を 受けたが， そのとき， 「私が 主を 信じる 者だとお 思いでしたら， どうぞ， 私の 家に 來てお 泊まりください 」と 言ってわたしたちを 招待し， 無理に 承知させた．

- Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;
- And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.
- And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
- And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
- And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
