- イエス · キリスト の 僕であり， 使徒である シメオン · ペトロ から， わたしたちの 神と 救い 主 イエス · キリスト の 義によって， わたしたちと 同じ 尊い 信仰を 受けた 人たちへ．
- 神とわたしたちの 主 イエス を 知ることによって， 惠みと 平和が， あなたがたにますます 豊かに 與えられるように．
- 主 イエス は， 御自分の 持つ 神の 力によって， 命と 信心とにかかわるすべてのものを， わたしたちに 與えてくださいました． それは， わたしたちを 御自身の 榮光と 力ある 業とで 召し 出してくださった 方を 認識させることによるのです．
- この 榮光と 力ある 業とによって， わたしたちは 尊くすばらしい 約束を 與えられています． それは， あなたがたがこれらによって， 情欲に 染まったこの 世の 退廢を 免れ， 神の 本性にあずからせていただくようになるためです．
- だから， あなたがたは， 力を 盡くして 信仰には 德を， 德には 知識を，

- Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
- Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
- According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
- Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
- And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

- 知識には 自制を， 自制には 忍耐を， 忍耐には 信心を，
- 信心には 兄弟愛を， 兄弟愛には 愛を 加えなさい．
- これらのものが 備わり， ますます 豊かになるならば， あなたがたは 怠惰で 實を 結ばない 者とはならず， わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト を 知るようになるでしょう．
- これらを 備えていない 者は， 視力を 失っています． 近くのものしか 見えず， 以前の 罪が 淸められたことを 忘れています．
- だから 兄弟たち， 召されていること， 選ばれていることを 確かなものとするように， いっそう 努めなさい． これらのことを 實踐すれば， 決して 罪に 陷りません．

- And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
- And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
- For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
- Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

- こうして， わたしたちの 主， 救い 主 イエス · キリスト の 永遠の 御國に 確かに 入ることができるようになります．
- 從って， わたしはいつも， これらのことをあなたがたに 思い 出させたいのです． あなたがたは 旣に 知っているし， 授かった 眞理に 基づいて 生活しているのですが．
- わたしは， 自分がこの 體を 假の 宿としている 間， あなたがたにこれらのことを 思い 出させて， 奮起させるべきだと 考えています．
- わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト が 示してくださったように， 自分がこの 假の 宿を 間もなく 離れなければならないことを， わたしはよく 承知しているからです．
- 自分が 世を 去った 後もあなたがたにこれらのことを 絶えず 思い 出してもらうように， わたしは 努めます．

- For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
- Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
- Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
- Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
- Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

- わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト の 力に 滿ちた 來臨を 知らせるのに， わたしたちは 巧みな 作り 話を 用いたわけではありません． わたしたちは， キリスト の 威光を 目擊したのです．
- 莊嚴な 榮光の 中から， 「これはわたしの 愛する 子． わたしの 心に 適う 者 」というような 聲があって， 主 イエス は 父である 神から 譽れと 榮光をお 受けになりました．
- わたしたちは， 聖なる 山に イエス といたとき， 天から 響いてきたこの 聲を 聞いたのです．
- こうして， わたしたちには， 預言の 言葉はいっそう 確かなものとなっています． 夜が 明け， 明けの 明星があなたがたの 心の 中に 昇るときまで， 暗い 所に 輝くともし 火として， どうかこの 預言の 言葉に 留意していてください．
- 何よりもまず 心得てほしいのは， 聖書の 預言は 何一つ， 自分勝手に 解釋すべきではないということです．

- For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
- For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
- And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
- We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
- Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

- なぜなら， 預言は， 決して 人間の 意志に 基づいて 語られたのではなく， 人¿が 聖靈に 導かれて 神からの 言葉を 語ったものだからです．

- For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
