- わたしは 誇らずにいられません． 誇っても 無益ですが， 主が 見せてくださった 事と 啓示してくださった 事について 語りましょう．
- わたしは， キリスト に 結ばれていた 一人の 人を 知っていますが， その 人は 十四年前， 第三の 天にまで 引き 上げられたのです． 體のままか， 體を 離れてかは 知りません． 神がご 存じです．

- 彼は 樂園にまで 引き 上げられ， 人が 口にするのを 許されない， 言い 表しえない 言葉を 耳にしたのです．
- このような 人のことをわたしは 誇りましょう． しかし， 自分自身については， 弱さ 以外には 誇るつもりはありません．

- Boasting is necessary, though it is not profitable; but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.
- I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a man was caught up to the third heaven.
- And I know how such a man--whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows--
- was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.
- On behalf of such a man I will boast; but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in regard to my weaknesses.

- 假にわたしが 誇る 氣になったとしても， 眞實を 語るのだから， 愚か 者にはならないでしょう． だが， 誇るまい． わたしのことを 見たり， わたしから 話を 聞いたりする 以上に， わたしを 過大評價する 人がいるかもしれないし，
- また， あの 啓示された 事があまりにもすばらしいからです． それで， そのために 思い 上がることのないようにと， わたしの 身に 一つのとげが 與えられました． それは， 思い 上がらないように， わたしを 痛めつけるために， サタン から 送られた 使いです．
- この 使いについて， 離れ 去らせてくださるように， わたしは 三度主に 願いました．
- すると 主は， 「わたしの 惠みはあなたに 十分である． 力は 弱さの 中でこそ 十分に 發揮されるのだ 」と 言われました． だから， キリスト の 力がわたしの 內に 宿るように， むしろ 大いに 喜んで 自分の 弱さを 誇りましょう．
- それゆえ， わたしは 弱さ， 侮辱， 窮乏， 迫害， そして 行き 詰まりの 狀態にあっても， キリスト のために 滿足しています． なぜなら， わたしは 弱いときにこそ 强いからです．

- For if I do wish to boast I will not be foolish, for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me.
- Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me--to keep me from exalting myself!
- Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me.
- And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness " Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
- Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
