- わが 子よ， 聞き 從って 知惠を 得よ． あなたの 心が 道をまっすぐに 進むようにせよ．
- 大酒を 飮むな， 身を 持ち 崩すな．
- 大酒を 飮み， 身を 持ち 崩す 者は 貧乏になり ／惰眠をむさぼる 者はぼろをまとう．
- 父に 聞き 從え， 生みの 親である 父に． 母が 年老いても 侮ってはならない．
- 眞理を 得よ， 知惠も 諭しも 分別も 手放すな．

- Listen, my son, and be wise, And direct your heart in the way.
- Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat;
- For the heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe one with rags.
- Listen to your father who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she is old.
- Buy truth, and do not sell it, Get wisdom and instruction and understanding.

- 神に 從う 人の 父は 大いに 喜び 躍り ／知惠ある 人の 親は， その 子によって 樂しみを 得る．
- 父が 樂しみを 得 ／あなたを 生んだ 母が 喜び 躍るようにせよ．
- わが 子よ， あなたの 心をわたしにゆだねよ． 喜んでわたしの 道に 目を 向けよ．

- The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, And he who sires a wise son will be glad in him.
- Let your father and your mother be glad, And let her rejoice who gave birth to you.
- Give me your heart, my son, And let your eyes delight in my ways.
