로마서

본서는 로마 교회를 수신자로 쓰여진 바울의 서신이다. 로마는 온갖 사상과 종교가 범람하는 곳이었기 때문에, 바울은 그리스도교의 진리의 체계를 분명히 제시하여 로마에 있는 그리스도인들의 신앙을 확립시키고자 본서를 기록한 것이다.

본서를 통하여 바울은 ‘믿음으로 의에 이르며 구원을 얻는다’는 기독교의 구원 교리를 제시하고, 의롭다함을 받는 결과는 하나님과 화목되는 것이며, 죄와 율법과 죽음으로부터의 자유를 누리게 되는 진리를 강조하고 있다. 또한 성도의 삶은 믿음에 기초한 삶이어야 함을 교훈하고, 의의 실천을 권면하면서 앞으로의 선교 계획을 밝히고 있다.

	로마서 1:1-1:17 바울은 로마 교인들에게 자신을 이방인의 사도로 소개한 후, 로마 방문에 대한 자신의 열망을 밝혔다. 또한 본서의 핵심 주제인 이신득의(以信得義), 즉 믿음으로 말미암아 의롭게 됨에 대하여 설명하였다.

	인사말(1:1-1:7)

キリスト · イエスの僕，神の福音のために選び出され，召されて使徒となったパウロから， ――

この福音は，神が旣に聖書の中で預言者を通して約束されたもので，

御子に關するものです．御子は，肉によればダビデの子孫から生まれ，

聖なる靈によれば，死者の中からの復活によって力ある神の子と定められたのです．この方が，わたしたちの主イエス · キリストです．

わたしたちはこの方により，その御名を廣めてすべての異邦人を信仰による從順へと導くために，惠みを受けて使徒とされました．

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God--

the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures

regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David,

and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.

この異邦人の中に，イエス · キリストのものとなるように召されたあなたがたもいるのです． ――

神に愛され，召されて聖なる者となったロ ― マの人たち一同へ．わたしたちの父である神と主イエス · キリストからの惠みと平和が，あなたがたにあるように．

And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

	믿음을 통한 구원(1:8-1:17)

まず初めに，イエス · キリストを通して，あなたがた一同についてわたしの神に感謝します．あなたがたの信仰が全世界に言い傳えられているからです．

わたしは，御子の福音を宣べ傳えながら心から神に仕えています．その神が證ししてくださることですが，わたしは，祈るときにはいつもあなたがたのことを思い起こし，

何とかしていつかは神の御心によってあなたがたのところへ行ける機會があるように，願っています．

あなたがたにぜひ會いたいのは， “靈＂の賜物をいくらかでも分け與えて，力になりたいからです．

あなたがたのところで，あなたがたとわたしが互いに持っている信仰によって，勵まし合いたいのです．

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.

God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you

in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you.

I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong--

that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.

兄弟たち，ぜひ知ってもらいたい．ほかの異邦人のところと同じく，あなたがたのところでも何か實りを得たいと望んで，何回もそちらに行こうと企てながら，今日まで妨げられているのです．

わたしは，ギリシア人にも未開の人にも，知惠のある人にもない人にも，果たすべき責任があります．

それで，ロ ― マにいるあなたがたにも，ぜひ福音を告げ知らせたいのです．

わたしは福音を恥としない．福音は，ユダヤ人をはじめ，ギリシア人にも，信じる者すべてに救いをもたらす神の力だからです．

福音には，神の義が啓示されていますが，それは，初めから終わりまで信仰を通して實現されるのです．「正しい者は信仰によって生きる」と書いてあるとおりです．

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.

I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.

That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are at Rome.

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
