	역대하 24:1-25:28 요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 살아 있을 동안에는 선정을 베풀었으나, 그가 죽자 우상 숭배에 빠져 선지자 스가랴를 살해하는 등의 범죄를 자행하였다. 그리하여 아람 왕 하사엘의 침입을 받고, 결국 신하들의 모반으로 살해당하였다. 그의 뒤를 이은 아마샤는 초기에는 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 전승의 영광을 얻었으나, 교만해져서 하나님을 버린 후에는 타락의 일로를 걷다가 결국 반역의 희생물이 되고 말았다.

	요아스의 유다 통치(24:1-24:27)

ヨアシュは七歲で王となり，四十年間エルサレムで王位にあった．その母は名をツィブヤといい，ベエル · シェバの出身であった．

ヨアシュは祭司ヨヤダの生きている間は主の目にかなう正しいことを行った．

ヨヤダは二人の妻を彼にめとらせ，彼らの間に息子や娘が生まれた．

その後，ヨアシュは主の神殿の修復に意欲を示し，

祭司とレビ人を集めて言った．「ユダの町¿に出かけて行って，あなたたちの神の神殿を每年修理するため，すべてのイスラエル人から資金を集めよ．速やかに取りかかれ．」しかし，レビ人たちは速やかに取りかからなかった．

Joash was seven years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah from Beersheba.

Joash did what was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

Jehoiada took two wives for him, and he became the father of sons and daughters.

Now it came about after this that Joash decided to restore the house of the LORD.

He gathered the priests and Levites and said to them, "Go out to the cities of Judah and collect money from all Israel to repair the house of your God annually, and you shall do the matter quickly." But the Levites did not act quickly.

そこで王は祭司長ヨヤダを呼んで言った．「なぜあなたはレビ人に要求し，主の僕モ ― セとイスラエルの會衆が， ¿の幕屋のために定めた稅をユダとエルサレムから徵收しないのか．」

惡女アタルヤとその子たちが神殿を損い，主の神殿の聖なる物もすべてバアルのものとしていた．

王は命令を出して一つの箱を作ら／せ，主の神殿の門の外に置かせた．

そして，神の僕モ ― セが荒れ野でイスラエルに對して定めた稅を主に納めるように，ユダとエルサレムに呼びかけさせた．

高官も民も皆喜んで持って來て，溢れるまで箱に投げ入れた．

So the king summoned Jehoiada the chief priest and said to him, "Why have you not required the Levites to bring in from Judah and from Jerusalem the levy fixed by Moses the servant of the LORD on the congregation of Israel for the tent of the testimony?"

For the sons of the wicked Athaliah had broken into the house of God and even used the holy things of the house of the LORD for the Baals.

So the king commanded, and they made a chest and set it outside by the gate of the house of the LORD.

They made a proclamation in Judah and Jerusalem to bring to the LORD the levy fixed by Moses the servant of God on Israel in the wilderness.

All the officers and all the people rejoiced and brought in their levies and dropped them into the chest until they had finished.

その箱がレビ人によって運び ¿まれ，王の監査にかけられるとき，獻金がたまっているのが認められると，王の書記官と祭司長の代表が來て箱を空け，また持って行って元の場所に戾しておいた．每日このようにして，彼らは多くの獻金を集めた．

王とヨヤダは，その獻金を主の神殿の工事の擔當者たちに渡した．彼らは神殿を修復するために石工と大工を雇い，また神殿を修理するために鐵と靑銅の職人を雇った．

工事の擔當者たちはそのように行い，彼らの ¿きによって修理の作業は進んだ．彼らは神殿を元の狀態にし，また補强した．

ヨヤダは年老い，長壽を全うして死んだ．死んだとき，彼は百三十歲であった．

It came about whenever the chest was brought in to the king's officer by the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, then the king's scribe and the chief priest's officer would come, empty the chest, take it, and return it to its place. Thus they did daily and collected much money.

The king and Jehoiada gave it to those who did the work of the service of the house of the LORD; and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the house of the LORD, and also workers in iron and bronze to repair the house of the LORD.

So the workmen labored, and the repair work progressed in their hands, and they restored the house of God according to its specifications and strengthened it.

When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada; and it was made into utensils for the house of the LORD, utensils for the service and the burnt offering, and pans and utensils of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.

Now when Jehoiada reached a ripe old age he died; he was one hundred and thirty years old at his death.

その遺體はダビデの町に諸王と共に葬られた．彼はイスラエルにおいて神とその神殿のために著しい貢獻をしたからである．

ヨヤダの死後，ユダの高官たちが王のもとに來て，ひれ伏した．そのとき，王は彼らの言うことを聞き入れた．

They buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done well in Israel and to God and His house.

But after the death of Jehoiada the officials of Judah came and bowed down to the king, and the king listened to them.

They abandoned the house of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols; so wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their guilt.

Yet He sent prophets to them to bring them back to the LORD; though they testified against them, they would not listen.

Then the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people and said to them, "Thus God has said, 'Why do you transgress the commandments of the LORD and do not prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He has also forsaken you.'"

ところが彼らは共謀し，王の命令により，主の神殿の庭でゼカルヤを石で打ち殺した．

ヨアシュ王も，彼の父ヨヤダから寄せられた慈しみを顧みず，その息子を殺した．ゼカルヤは，死に際して言った．「主がこれを御覽になり，責任を追及してくださいますように．」

攻めて來たアラム軍の兵士は少數だったが，ユダとエルサレムの人¿が先祖の神，主を捨てたので，主は極めて大きな軍隊をアラム軍の手に渡された．こうして彼らはヨアシュに裁きを行った．

彼らがヨアシュに重傷を負わせて去ると，家臣たちは，祭司ヨヤダの息子の血のゆえに，共謀し，ヨアシュを寢床で殺した．彼は死んで，ダビデの町に葬られたが，王の墓には葬られなかった．

So they conspired against him and at the command of the king they stoned him to death in the court of the house of the LORD.

Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which his father Jehoiada had shown him, but he murdered his son. And as he died he said, "May the LORD see and avenge!"

Now it happened at the turn of the year that the army of the Arameans came up against him; and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, destroyed all the officials of the people from among the people, and sent all their spoil to the king of Damascus.

Indeed the army of the Arameans came with a small number of men; yet the LORD delivered a very great army into their hands, because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers. Thus they executed judgment on Joash.

When they had departed from him (for they left him very sick), his own servants conspired against him because of the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and murdered him on his bed. So he died, and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.

共謀者は，アンモンの女シムアトの子ザバドと，モアブの女シムリトの子ヨザバドであった．

ヨアシュの王子たち，王に向けられた數¿の託宣，それに神殿の修復については，『列王の書の解說』に記されている．その子アマツヤがヨアシュに代わって王となった．

Now these are those who conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith the Moabitess.

As to his sons and the many oracles against him and the rebuilding of the house of God, behold, they are written in the treatise of the Book of the Kings. Then Amaziah his son became king in his place.

	아마샤의 유다 통치(25:1-25:28)

アマツヤは二十五歲で王となり，二十九年間エルサレムで王位にあった．その母は名をヨアダンといい，エルサレムの出身であった．

彼は主の目にかなう正しいことを行ったが，心からそうしたのではなかった．

彼は國を掌握すると，父ヨアシュ王を殺害した家臣たちを殺した．

しかし，モ ― セの書，律法に記されているところに從い，その子供たちは殺さなかった．主がこう命じておられるからである．「父は子のゆえに死に定められず，子は父のゆえに死に定められない．人は，それぞれ自分の罪のゆえに死に定められる．」

アマツヤはユダの人¿を召集し，ユダ族とベニヤミン族のすべての人¿を家系に從って千人隊の長および百人隊の長のもとに配屬した．二十歲以上の者の數を調べたところ，槍と盾を携える戰鬪員として三十万の若者がいることが分かった．

Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

He did right in the sight of the LORD, yet not with a whole heart.

Now it came about as soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, that he killed his servants who had slain his father the king.

However, he did not put their children to death, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, which the LORD commanded, saying, "Fathers shall not be put to death for sons, nor sons be put to death for fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin."

Moreover, Amaziah assembled Judah and appointed them according to their fathers' households under commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds throughout Judah and Benjamin; and he took a census of those from twenty years old and upward and found them to be 300,000 choice men, able to go to war and handle spear and shield.

また彼は銀百キカルを費やして，イスラエルから勇士十万を雇った．

ところが，ある神の人が來て言った．「王よ，イスラエルの軍隊を同行させてはなりません．主はイスラエルの者，すなわちどのエフライム人とも共においでにならないからです．

もし行くなら，單獨で行って勇敢に戰いなさい．そうでなければ，神は敵の前であなたを挫かれます．神には力があって，助けることも，挫くこともおできになります．」

アマツヤは神の人に言った．「イスラエルの部隊に拂った百キカルはどうしたらよいのか．」神の人は答えた．「主はそれより多くのものを與えることがおできになります．」

そこでアマツヤはエフライムから來た部隊を，彼らの地に歸らせるために分離した．そのため，彼らはユダに對して激しく憤り，怒りに燃えながら彼らの地に歸って行った．

He hired also 100,000 valiant warriors out of Israel for one hundred talents of silver.

But a man of God came to him saying, "O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel nor with any of the sons of Ephraim.

"But if you do go, do it, be strong for the battle; yet God will bring you down before the enemy, for God has power to help and to bring down."

Amaziah said to the man of God, "But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the troops of Israel?" And the man of God answered, "The LORD has much more to give you than this."

Then Amaziah dismissed them, the troops which came to him from Ephraim, to go home; so their anger burned against Judah and they returned home in fierce anger.

しかしアマツヤは，勇氣を奮い起こし，自分の軍隊を率いて鹽の谷まで進み，一万のセイル兵を打ち倒した．

またユダの兵はほかに一万の敵兵を生け捕りにし，岩山の頂に引いて行き，彼らをその岩山の頂から突き落としたので，皆¿かれて死んだ．

他方，アマツヤが戰いに同行させずに送り返した部隊の兵士らは，サマリアからベト · ホロンまでのユダの町¿を荒らしまわり，三千人の住民を打ち殺し，略奪をほしいままにした．

アマツヤはエドム人の討伐から歸った後，セイル人の神¿を導入し，これを自分の神とし，その前にひれ伏して香をたいた．

主はそのアマツヤに對して怒りに燃え，預言者を遣わされた．彼は王に言った．「あなたの手から自分の民を救えなかった神¿を，どうしてあなたは求めるのか．」

Now Amaziah strengthened himself and led his people forth, and went to the Valley of Salt and struck down 10,000 of the sons of Seir.

The sons of Judah also captured 10,000 alive and brought them to the top of the cliff and threw them down from the top of the cliff, so that they were all dashed to pieces.

But the troops whom Amaziah sent back from going with him to battle, raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon, and struck down 3,000 of them and plundered much spoil.

Now after Amaziah came from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought the gods of the sons of Seir, set them up as his gods, bowed down before them and burned incense to them.

Then the anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him, "Why have you sought the gods of the people who have not delivered their own people from your hand?"

彼がこう告げているときに，アマツヤは言った．「お前を王の顧問にした覺えはない．もうよい．打ち殺されてもよいのか．」預言者は語るのをやめたが，こう付け加えた．「あなたはこのような事を行い，またわたしの忠告も聞かない．それゆえ神はあなたを滅ぼそうと決められたことが，分かりました．」

ユダの王アマツヤは，協議の結果，イスラエルの王，イエフの孫でヨアハズの子であるヨアシュに使者を遣わし，「來るがよい，戰いを交えよう」と言わせた．

だが，イスラエルの王ヨアシュは，ユダの王アマツヤに次のような返事を送った．「レバノンのあざみがレバノンの杉に，『あなたの娘をわたしの息子の嫁にくれ』と申し ¿んだが，レバノンの野の ¿が通りかかって，あざみを踏み倒してしまった．

あなたはエドムを打ち破ったと言って，思い上がり，うぬぼれている．今は家にとどまっているがよい．なぜ挑發して災いを招き，あなただけでなく，ユダも一緖に倒れるようなことをするのか．」

しかしアマツヤはこれを聞き入れなかった．それは神の計らいによる．ユダの人¿がエドムの神¿を求めたため，神は彼らを敵の手に渡そうとされたのである．

As he was talking with him, the king said to him, "Have we appointed you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?" Then the prophet stopped and said, "I know that God has planned to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel."

Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent to Joash the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, the king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us face each other."

Joash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thorn bush which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar which was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son in marriage.' But there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon and trampled the thorn bush.

"You said, 'Behold, you have defeated Edom.' And your heart has become proud in boasting. Now stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you, even you, would fall and Judah with you?"

But Amaziah would not listen, for it was from God, that He might deliver them into the hand of Joash because they had sought the gods of Edom.

イスラエルの王ヨアシュは上って來て，ユダのベト · シェメシュでユダの王アマツヤと戰いを交えた．

その結果，ユダはイスラエルに慘敗し，兵はおのおのその天幕に逃げ歸ってしまった．

イスラエルの王ヨアシュはベト · シェメシュで，ヨアハズの孫でヨアシュの子であるユダの王アマツヤを捕らえ，エルサレムに引いて來て，その城壁をエフライムの門から角の門まで四百アンマにわたって破壞した．

また彼は，オベド · エドムの管理下にあった，神殿のすべての金，銀，祭具，更に王宮の寶物および人質を取って，サマリアに凱旋した．

ユダの王，ヨアシュの子アマツヤは，イスラエルの王，ヨアハズの子ヨアシュの死後，なお十五年生き永らえた．

So Joash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh, which belonged to Judah.

Judah was defeated by Israel, and they fled each to his tent.

Then Joash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and tore down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate, 400 cubits.

He took all the gold and silver and all the utensils which were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

And Amaziah, the son of Joash king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.

アマツヤの他の事績は，初期のことも後期のことも，『ユダとイスラエルの列王の書』に記されている．

アマツヤが主に背を向けた時から，彼に對する謀反がエルサレムで企てられたため，彼はラキシュに逃れたが，ラキシュに送られた追っ手によって殺された．

その遺體は馬に乘せて運ばれ，ユダの町に先祖と共に葬られた．

Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from first to last, behold, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?

From the time that Amaziah turned away from following the LORD they conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.

Then they brought him on horses and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
