- その 後十四年たってから， わたしは バルナバ と 一緖に エルサレム に 再び 上りました． その 際， テトス も 連れて 行きました．
- エルサレム に 上ったのは， 啓示によるものでした． わたしは， 自分が 異邦人に 宣べ 傳えている 福音について， 人¿に， とりわけ， おもだった 人たちには 個人的に 話して， 自分は 無馱に 走っているのではないか， あるいは 走ったのではないかと 意見を 求めました．
- しかし， わたしと 同行した テトス でさえ， ギリシア 人であったのに， 割禮を 受けることを 强制されませんでした．
- 潛り ¿んで 來た 僞の 兄弟たちがいたのに， 强制されなかったのです． 彼らは， わたしたちを 奴隷にしようとして， わたしたちが キリスト · イエス によって 得ている 自由を 付けねらい， こっそり 入り ¿んで 來たのでした．
- 福音の 眞理が， あなたがたのもとにいつもとどまっているように， わたしたちは， 片ときもそのような 者たちに 屈服して 讓步するようなことはしませんでした．

- Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.
- And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
- But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:
- And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
- To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

- おもだった 人たちからも 强制されませんでした． ――この 人たちがそもそもどんな 人であったにせよ， それは， わたしにはどうでもよいことです． 神は 人を 分け 隔てなさいません． ――實際， そのおもだった 人たちは， わたしにどんな 義務も 負わせませんでした．
- それどころか， 彼らは， ペトロ には 割禮を 受けた 人¿に 對する 福音が 任されたように， わたしには 割禮を 受けていない 人¿に 對する 福音が 任されていることを 知りました．
- 割禮を 受けた 人¿に 對する 使徒としての 任務のために ペトロ に ¿きかけた 方は， 異邦人に 對する 使徒としての 任務のためにわたしにも ¿きかけられたのです．
- また， 彼らはわたしに 與えられた 惠みを 認め， ヤコブ と ケファ と ヨハネ ， つまり 柱と 目されるおもだった 人たちは， わたしと バルナバ に 一致のしるしとして 右手を 差し 出しました． それで， わたしたちは 異邦人へ， 彼らは 割禮を 受けた 人¿のところに 行くことになったのです．
- ただ， わたしたちが 貧しい 人たちのことを 忘れないようにとのことでしたが， これは， ちょうどわたしも 心がけてきた 点です．

- But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:
- But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
- (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
- And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
- Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

- さて， ケファ が アンティオキア に 來たとき， 非難すべきところがあったので， わたしは 面と 向かって 反對しました．
- なぜなら， ケファ は， ヤコブ のもとからある 人¿が 來るまでは， 異邦人と 一緖に 食事をしていたのに， 彼らがやって 來ると， 割禮を 受けている 者たちを 恐れてしり ¿みし， 身を 引こうとしだしたからです．
- そして， ほかの ユダヤ 人も， ケファ と 一緖にこのような 心にもないことを 行い， バルナバ さえも 彼らの 見せかけの 行いに 引きずり ¿まれてしまいました．
- しかし， わたしは， 彼らが 福音の 眞理にのっとってまっすぐ 步いていないのを 見たとき， 皆の 前で ケファ に 向かってこう 言いました． 「あなたは ユダヤ 人でありながら， ユダヤ 人らしい 生き 方をしないで， 異邦人のように 生活しているのに， どうして 異邦人に ユダヤ 人のように 生活することを 强要するのですか． 」
- わたしたちは 生まれながらの ユダヤ 人であって， 異邦人のような 罪人ではありません．

- But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
- For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
- And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
- But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
- We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

- けれども， 人は 律法の 實行ではなく， ただ イエス · キリスト への 信仰によって 義とされると 知って， わたしたちも キリスト · イエス を 信じました． これは， 律法の 實行ではなく， キリスト への 信仰によって 義としていただくためでした． なぜなら， 律法の 實行によっては， だれ 一人として 義とされないからです．

- Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
