- 律法學者がひとり 來て， その 議論を 聞いていたが， イエス がみごとに 答えられたのを 知って， イエス に 尋ねた． 「すべての 命令の 中で， どれが 一番たいせつですか． 」
- イエス は 答えられた． 「一番たいせつなのはこれです． 『イスラエル よ． 聞け． われらの 神である 主は， 唯一の 主である．
- 心を 盡くし， 思いを 盡くし， 知性を 盡くし， 力を 盡くして， あなたの 神である 主を 愛せよ． 』
- 次にはこれです． 『あなたの 隣人をあなた 自身のように 愛せよ． 』この 二つより 大事な 命令は， ほかにありません． 」
- そこで， この 律法學者は， イエス に 言った． 「先生． そのとおりです． 『主は 唯一であって， そのほかに， 主はない． 』と 言われたのは， まさにそのとおりです．

- And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
- And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
- And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
- And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
- And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

- また『心を 盡くし， 知惠を 盡くし， 力を 盡くして 主を 愛し， また 隣人をあなた 自身のように 愛する． 』ことは， どんな 全燒のいけにえや 供え 物よりも， ずっとすぐれています． 」
- イエス は， 彼が 賢い 返事をしたのを 見て， 言われた． 「あなたは 神の 國から 遠くない． 」それから 後は， だれも イエス にあえて 尋ねる 者がなかった．
- イエス が 宮で 敎えておられたとき， こう 言われた． 「律法學者たちは， どうして キリスト を ダビデ の 子と 言うのですか．
- ダビデ 自身， 聖靈によって， こう 言っています． 『主は 私の 主に 言われた． 「わたしがあなたの 敵をあなたの 足の 下に 從わせるまでは， わたしの 右の 座に 着いていなさい． 」』
- ダビデ 自身が キリスト を 主と 呼んでいるのに， どういうわけで キリスト が ダビデ の 子なのでしょう． 」大ぜいの 群衆は， イエス の 言われることを 喜んで 聞いていた．

- And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
- And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
- And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
- For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
- David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
