- 彼らが イエス を 大祭司のところに 連れて 行くと， 祭司長， 長老， 律法學者たちがみな， 集まって 來た．
- ペテロ は， 遠くから イエス のあとをつけながら， 大祭司の 庭の 中まではいって 行った． そして， 役人たちといっしょにすわって， 火にあたっていた．
- さて， 祭司長たちと 全議會は， イエス を 死刑にするために， イエス を 訴える 證據をつかもうと 努めたが， 何も 見つからなかった．
- イエス に 對する 僞證をした 者は 多かったが， 一致しなかったのである．
- すると， 數人が 立ち 上がって， イエス に 對する 僞證をして， 次のように 言った．

- And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
- And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
- And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
- For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
- And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

- 「私たちは， この 人が『わたしは 手で 造られたこの 神殿をこわして， 三日のうちに， 手で 造られない 別の 神殿を 造って 見せる． 』と 言うのを 聞きました． 」
- しかし， この 点でも 證言は 一致しなかった．
- そこで 大祭司が 立ち 上がり， 眞中に 進み 出て イエス に 尋ねて 言った． 「何も 答えないのですか． この 人たちが， あなたに 不利な 證言をしていますが， これはどうなのですか． 」
- しかし， イエス は 默ったままで， 何もお 答えにならなかった． 大祭司は， さらに イエス に 尋ねて 言った． 「あなたは， ほむべき 方の 子， キリスト ですか． 」
- そこで イエス は 言われた． 「わたしは， それです． 人の 子が， 力ある 方の 右の 座に 着き， 天の 雲に 乘って 來るのを， あなたがたは 見るはずです． 」

- We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
- But neither so did their witness agree together.
- And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
- But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
- And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

- すると， 大祭司は， 自分の 衣を 引き 裂いて 言った． 「これでもまだ， 證人が 必要でしょうか．
- あなたがたは， 神をけがすこのことばを 聞いたのです． どう 考えますか． 」すると， 彼らは 全員で， イエス には 死刑に 當たる 罪があると 決めた．
- そうして， ある 人¿は， イエス につばきをかけ， 御顔をおおい， こぶしでなぐりつけ， 「言い 當てて 見ろ． 」などと 言ったりし 始めた． また， 役人たちは， イエス を 受け 取って， 平手で 打った．
- ペテロ が 下の 庭にいると， 大祭司の 女中のひとりが 來て，
- ペテロ が 火にあたっているのを 見かけ， 彼をじっと 見つめて， 言った． 「あなたも， あの ナザレ 人， あの イエス といっしょにいましたね． 」

- Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
- Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
- And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
- And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
- And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

- しかし， ペテロ はそれを 打ち 消して， 「何を 言っているのか， わからない． 見當もつかない． 」と 言って， 出口のほうへと 出て 行った．
- すると 女中は， ペテロ を 見て， そばに 立っていた 人たちに， また， 「この 人はあの 仲間です． 」と 言いだした．
- しかし， ペテロ は 再び 打ち 消した． しばらくすると， そばに 立っていたその 人たちが， また ペテロ に 言った． 「確かに， あなたはあの 仲間だ． ガリラヤ 人なのだから． 」
- しかし， 彼はのろいをかけて 誓い 始め， 「私は， あなたがたの 話しているその 人を 知りません． 」と 言った．
- するとすぐに， 鷄が， 二度目に 鳴いた． そこで ペテロ は， 「鷄が 二度鳴く 前に， あなたは， わたしを 知らないと 三度言います． 」という イエス のおことばを 思い 出した． それに 思い 當たったとき， 彼は 泣き 出した．

- But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
- And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
- And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
- But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
- And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
