- さて， ある 人が 病氣にかかっていた． ラザロ といって， マリヤ とその 姉妹 マルタ との 村の 出で， ベタニヤ の 人であった．
- この マリヤ は， 主に 香油を 塗り， 髮の 毛でその 足をぬぐった マリヤ であって， 彼女の 兄弟 ラザロ が 病んでいたのである．
- そこで 姉妹たちは， イエス のところに 使いを 送って， 言った． 「主よ． ご 覽ください． あなたが 愛しておられる 者が 病氣です． 」
- イエス はこれを 聞いて， 言われた． 「この 病氣は 死で 終わるだけのものではなく， 神の 榮光のためのものです． 神の 子がそれによって 榮光を 受けるためです． 」
- イエス は マルタ とその 姉妹と ラザロ とを 愛しておられた．

- Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
- (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
- Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
- When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
- Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

- そのようなわけで， イエス は， ラザロ が 病んでいることを 聞かれたときも， そのおられた 所になお 二日とどまられた．
- その 後， イエス は， 「もう 一度 ユダヤ に 行こう． 」と 弟子たちに 言われた．
- 弟子たちは イエス に 言った． 「先生． たった 今 ユダヤ 人たちが， あなたを 石打ちにしようとしていたのに， またそこにおいでになるのですか． 」
- イエス は 答えられた． 「¿間は 十二時間あるでしょう． だれでも， ¿間步けば， つまずくことはありません． この 世の 光を 見ているからです． 」
- しかし， 夜步けばつまずきます． 光がその 人のうちにないからです． 」

- When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
- Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
- His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
- Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
- But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

- イエス は， このように 話され， それから， 弟子たちに 言われた． 「わたしたちの 友 ラザロ は 眠っています． しかし， わたしは 彼を 眠りからさましに 行くのです． 」
- そこで 弟子たちは イエス に 言った． 「主よ． 眠っているのなら， 彼は 助かるでしょう． 」
- しかし， イエス は， ラザロ の 死のことを 言われたのである． だが， 彼らは 眠った 狀態のことを 言われたものと 思った．
- そこで， イエス はそのとき， はっきりと 彼らに 言われた． 「ラザロ は 死んだのです．
- わたしは， あなたがたのため， すなわちあなたがたが 信じるためには， わたしがその 場に 居合わせなかったことを 喜んでいます． さあ， 彼のところへ 行きましょう． 」

- These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
- Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
- Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
- Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
- And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

- そこで， デドモ と 呼ばれる トマス が， 弟子の 仲間に 言った． 「私たちも 行って， 主といっしょに 死のうではないか． 」
- それで， イエス がおいでになってみると， ラザロ は 墓の 中に 入れられて 四日もたっていた．
- ベタニヤ は エルサレム に 近く， 三 キロメ ― トル ほど 離れた 所にあった．
- 大ぜいの ユダヤ 人が マルタ と マリヤ のところに 來ていた． その 兄弟のことについて 慰めるためであった．
- マルタ は， イエス が 來られたと 聞いて 迎えに 行った． マリヤ は 家ですわっていた．

- Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
- Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
- Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
- And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
- Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

- マルタ は イエス に 向かって 言った． 「主よ． もしここにいてくださったなら， 私の 兄弟は 死ななかったでしょうに．
- 今でも 私は 知っております． あなたが 神にお 求めになることは 何でも， 神はあなたにお 與えになります． 」
- イエス は 彼女に 言われた． 「あなたの 兄弟はよみがえります． 」
- マルタ は イエス に 言った． 「私は， 終わりの 日のよみがえりの 時に， 彼がよみがえることを 知っております． 」
- イエス は 言われた． 「わたしは， よみがえりです． いのちです． わたしを 信じる 者は， 死んでも 生きるのです．

- Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
- But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
- Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
- Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
- Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

- また， 生きていてわたしを 信じる 者は， 決して 死ぬことがありません． このことを 信じますか． 」
- 彼女は イエス に 言った． 「はい． 主よ． 私は， あなたが 世に 來られる 神の 子 キリスト である， と 信じております． 」
- こう 言ってから， 歸って 行って， 姉妹 マリヤ を 呼び， 「先生が 見えています． あなたを 呼んでおられます． 」とそっと 言った．
- マリヤ はそれを 聞くと， すぐ 立ち 上がって， イエス のところに 行った．
- さて イエス は， まだ 村にはいらないで， マルタ が 出迎えた 場所におられた．

- And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
- She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
- And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
- As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
- Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

- マリヤ とともに 家にいて， 彼女を 慰めていた ユダヤ 人たちは， マリヤ が 急いで 立ち 上がって 出て 行くのを 見て， マリヤ が 墓に 泣きに 行くのだろうと 思い， 彼女について 行った．
- マリヤ は， イエス のおられた 所に 來て， お 目にかかると， その 足もとにひれ 伏して 言った． 「主よ． もしここにいてくださったなら， 私の 兄弟は 死ななかったでしょうに． 」
- そこで イエス は， 彼女が 泣き， 彼女といっしょに 來た ユダヤ 人たちも 泣いているのをご 覽になると， 靈の 憤りを 覺え， 心の 動¿を 感じて，
- 言われた． 「彼をどこに 置きましたか． 」彼らは イエス に 言った． 「主よ． 來てご 覽ください． 」
- イエス は 淚を 流された．

- The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
- Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
- When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.
- And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
- Jesus wept.

- そこで， ユダヤ 人たちは 言った． 「ご 覽なさい． 主はどんなに 彼を 愛しておられたことか． 」
- しかし， 「盲人の 目をあけたこの 方が， あの 人を 死なせないでおくことはできなかったのか． 」と 言う 者もいた．
- そこで イエス は， またも 心のうちに 憤りを 覺えながら， 墓に 來られた． 墓はほら 穴であって， 石がそこに 立てかけてあった．
- イエス は 言われた． 「その 石を 取りのけなさい． 」死んだ 人の 姉妹 マルタ は 言った． 「主よ． もう 臭くなっておりましょう． 四日になりますから． 」
- イエス は 彼女に 言われた． 「もしあなたが 信じるなら， あなたは 神の 榮光を 見る， とわたしは 言ったではありませんか． 」

- Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
- And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
- Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
- Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
- Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

- そこで， 彼らは 石を 取りのけた． イエス は 目を 上げて， 言われた． 「父よ． わたしの 願いを 聞いてくださったことを 感謝いたします．
- わたしは， あなたがいつもわたしの 願いを 聞いてくださることを 知っておりました． しかしわたしは， 回りにいる 群衆のために， この 人¿が， あなたがわたしをお 遣わしになったことを 信じるようになるために， こう 申したのです． 」
- そして， イエス はそう 言われると， 大聲で 叫ばれた． 「ラザロ よ． 出て 來なさい． 」
- すると， 死んでいた 人が， 手と 足を 長い 布で 卷かれたままで 出て 來た． 彼の 顔は 布切れで 包まれていた． イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「ほどいてやって， 歸らせなさい． 」

- Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
- And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
- And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
- And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
