- それから 十四年たって， 私は， バルナバ といっしょに， テトス も 連れて， 再び エルサレム に 上りました．
- それは 啓示によって 上ったのです． そして， 異邦人の 間で 私の 宣べている 福音を， 人¿の 前に 示し， おもだった 人たちには 個人的にそうしました． それは， 私が 力を 盡くしていま 走っていること， またすでに 走ったことが， むだにならないためでした．
- しかし， 私といっしょにいた テトス でさえ， ギリシヤ 人であったのに， 割禮を 强いられませんでした．
- 實は， 忍び ¿んだにせ 兄弟たちがいたので， 强いられる 恐れがあったのです． 彼らは 私たちを 奴隷に 引き 落とそうとして， キリスト · イエス にあって 私たちの 持つ 自由をうかがうために 忍び ¿んでいたのです．
- 私たちは 彼らに 一時も 讓步しませんでした． それは 福音の 眞理があなたがたの 間で 常に 保たれるためです．

- Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.
- And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
- But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:
- And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
- To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

- そして， おもだった 者と 見られていた 人たちからは， ··彼らがどれほどの 人たちであるにしても， 私には 問題ではありません． 神は 人を 分け 隔てなさいません． ··そのおもだった 人たちは， 私に 對して， 何もつけ 加えることをしませんでした．
- それどころか， ペテロ が 割禮を 受けた 者への 福音をゆだねられているように， 私が 割禮を 受けない 者への 福音をゆだねられていることを 理解してくれました．
- ペテロ にみわざをなして， 割禮を 受けた 者への 使徒となさった 方が， 私にもみわざをなして， 異邦人への 使徒としてくださったのです．
- そして， 私に 與えられたこの 惠みを 認め， 柱として 重んじられている ヤコブ と ケパ と ヨハネ が， 私と バルナバ に， 交わりのしるしとして 右手を 差し 伸べました． それは， 私たちが 異邦人のところへ 行き， 彼らが 割禮を 受けた 人¿のところへ 行くためです．
- ただ 私たちが 貧しい 人たちをいつも 顧みるようにとのことでしたが， そのことなら 私も 大いに 努めて 來たところです．

- But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:
- But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
- (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
- And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
- Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

- ところが， ケパ が アンテオケ に 來たとき， 彼に 非難すべきことがあったので， 私は 面と 向かって 抗議しました．
- なぜなら， 彼は， ある 人¿が ヤコブ のところから 來る 前は 異邦人といっしょに 食事をしていたのに， その 人¿が 來ると， 割禮派の 人¿を 恐れて， だんだんと 異邦人から 身を 引き， 離れて 行ったからです．
- そして， ほかの ユダヤ 人たちも， 彼といっしょに 本心を 僞った 行動をとり， バルナバ までもその 僞りの 行動に 引き ¿まれてしまいました．
- しかし， 彼らが 福音の 眞理についてまっすぐに 步んでいないのを 見て， 私はみなの 面前で ケパ にこう 言いました． 「あなたは， 自分が ユダヤ 人でありながら ユダヤ 人のようには 生活せず， 異邦人のように 生活していたのに， どうして 異邦人に 對して， ユダヤ 人の 生活を 强いるのですか．
- 私たちは， 生まれながらの ユダヤ 人であって， 異邦人のような 罪人ではありません．

- But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
- For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
- And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
- But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
- We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

- しかし， 人は 律法の 行ないによっては 義と 認められず， ただ キリスト · イエス を 信じる 信仰によって 義と 認められる， ということを 知ったからこそ， 私たちも キリスト · イエス を 信じたのです． これは， 律法の 行ないによってではなく， キリスト を 信じる 信仰によって 義と 認められるためです． なぜなら， 律法の 行ないによって 義と 認められる 者は， ひとりもいないからです．

- Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
