- しかし， あなたは 健全な 敎えにふさわしいことを 話しなさい．
- 老人たちには， 自制し， 謹嚴で， 愼み 深くし， 信仰と 愛と 忍耐とにおいて 健全であるように．
- 同じように， 年をとった 婦人たちには， 神に 仕えている 者らしく 敬 ·にふるまい， 惡口を 言わず， 大酒のとりこにならず， 良いことを 敎える 者であるように．
- そうすれば， 彼女たちは， 若い 婦人たちに 向かって， 夫を 愛し， 子どもを 愛し，
- 愼み 深く， 貞潔で， 家事に 勵み， 優しく， 自分の 夫に 從順であるようにと， さとすことができるのです． それは， 神のことばがそしられるようなことのないためです．

- But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
- That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
- The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
- That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
- To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

- 同じように， 若い 人¿には， 思慮深くあるように 勸めなさい．
- また， すべての 点で 自分自身が 良いわざの 模範となり， 敎えにおいては 純正で， 威嚴を 保ち，
- 非難すべきところのない， 健全なことばを 用いなさい． そうすれば， 敵對する 者も， 私たちについて， 何も 惡いことが 言えなくなって， 恥じ 入ることになるでしょう．
- 奴隷には， すべての 点で 自分の 主人に 從って， 滿足を 與え， 口答えせず，
- 盜みをせず， 努めて 眞實を 表わすように 勸めなさい． それは， 彼らがあらゆることで， 私たちの 救い 主である 神の 敎えを 飾るようになるためです．

- Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
- In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
- Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
- Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
- Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

- というのは， すべての 人を 救う 神の 惠みが 現われ，
- 私たちに， 不敬 ·とこの 世の 欲とを 捨て， この 時代にあって， 愼み 深く， 正しく， 敬 ·に 生活し，
- 祝福された 望み， すなわち， 大いなる 神であり 私たちの 救い 主である キリスト · イエス の 榮光ある 現われを 待ち 望むようにと 敎えさとしたからです．
- キリスト が 私たちのためにご 自身をささげられたのは， 私たちをすべての 不法から ·い 出し， 良いわざに 熱心なご 自分の 民を， ご 自分のためにきよめるためでした．
- あなたは， これらのことを 十分な 權威をもって 話し， 勸め， また， 責めなさい． だれにも 輕んじられてはいけません．

- For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
- Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
- Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
- Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
- These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
