	여호수아 11:1-12:24 남부 지역의 패배 소식을 들은 가나안 북부 왕들이 연합군을 형성하여 메롬 물가에 진을 쳤으나, 이스라엘은 하나님의 도우심으로 그들을 진멸하고 북부 지역을 점령함으로써 가나안 전역을 차지했다. 이스라엘에게 패망한 이방 왕들의 명단을 기록함으로써 가나안 정복 기사를 끝맺었다.

	북부 가나안 정복(11:1-11:23)

ハツォルの王ヤビンは，このことを聞いて，マドンの王ヨバブ，シムロンの王，アクシャフの王，

また北方の山地，キネレテの南のアラバ，低地，西方のドルの高地にいる王たち，

すなわち，東西のカナン人，エモリ人，ヘテ人，ペリジ人，山地のエブス人，ミツパの地にあるヘルモンのふもとのヒビ人に使いをやった．

それで彼らは，その全陣營を率いて出て來た．その人數は海邊の砂のように多く，馬や戰車も非常に多かった．

これらの王たちはみな，相集まり，進んで來て，イスラエルと戰うために，メロムの水のあたりに一つになって陣を敷いた．

Then it came about, when Jabin king of Hazor heard of it, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon and to the king of Shimron and to the king of Achshaph,

and to the kings who were of the north in the hill country, and in the Arabah--south of Chinneroth and in the lowland and on the heights of Dor on the west--

to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

They came out, they and all their armies with them, as many people as the sand that is on the seashore, with very many horses and chariots.

So all of these kings having agreed to meet, came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

主はヨシュアに仰せられた．「彼らを恐れてはならない．あすの今ごろ，わたしは彼らをことごとくイスラエルの前で，刺し殺された者とするからだ．あなたは，彼らの馬の足の筋を切り，彼らの戰車を火で燒かなければならない．」

そこで，ヨシュアは戰う民をみな率いて，メロムの水のあたりで，彼らを急襲し，彼らに襲いかかった．

主が彼らをイスラエルの手に渡されたので，イスラエルは，彼らを打ち，大シドン，およびミスレフォテ · マイムまで追い，さらに東のほうでは，ミツパの谷まで彼らを追い，ひとりも生き殘る者がないまでに彼らを打った．

ヨシュアは，主が命じたとおりに彼らにして，彼らの馬の足の筋を切り，彼らの戰車を火で燒いた．

そのとき，ヨシュアは引き返して，ハツォルを攻め取り，その王を劍で打ち殺した．ハツォルは以前，これらすべての王國の首都だったからである．

Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow at this time I will deliver all of them slain before Israel; you shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire."

So Joshua and all the people of war with him came upon them suddenly by the waters of Merom, and attacked them.

The LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, so that they defeated them, and pursued them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim and the valley of Mizpeh to the east; and they struck them until no survivor was left to them.

Joshua did to them as the LORD had told him; he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

Then Joshua turned back at that time, and captured Hazor and struck its king with the sword; for Hazor formerly was the head of all these kingdoms.

彼らは，その中のすべての者を劍の刃で打ち，彼らを聖絶した．息のあるものは，何も殘さなかった．彼はハツォルを火で燒いた．

ヨシュアは，それらの王たちのすべての町¿，および，そのすべての王たちを捕え，彼らを劍の刃で打ち殺し，聖絶した．主のしもべモ ― セが命じたとおりであった．

ただしイスラエルは，丘の上に立っている町¿は燒かなかった．ヨシュアが燒いたハツォルだけは例外である．

これらの町¿のすべての分捕り物と家畜とは，イスラエル人の戰利品として自分たちのものとした．ただし人間はみな，劍の刃で打ち殺し，彼らを一掃して，息のあるものはひとりも殘さなかった．

主がそのしもべモ ― セに命じられたとおりに，モ ― セはヨシュアに命じたが，ヨシュアはそのとおりに行ない，主がモ ― セに命じたすべてのことばを，一言も取り除かなかった．

They struck every person who was in it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them; there was no one left who breathed. And he burned Hazor with fire.

Joshua captured all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them; just as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded.

However, Israel did not burn any cities that stood on their mounds, except Hazor alone, which Joshua burned.

All the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the sons of Israel took as their plunder; but they struck every man with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them. They left no one who breathed.

Just as the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.

こうして，ヨシュアはこの地のすべて，すなわち山地，ネゲブの全地域，ゴシェンの全土，低地，アラバ，およびイスラエルの山地と低地を取り，

セイルへ上って行くハラク山から，ヘルモン山のふもとのレバノンの谷にあるバアル · ガドまでを取った．また，それらの王をことごとく捕えて，彼らを打って，殺した．

ヨシュアは，これらすべての王たちと長い間戰った．

ギブオンの住民ヒビ人を除いては，イスラエル人と和を講じた町は一つもなかった．彼らは戰って，すべてのものを取った．

Thus Joshua took all that land: the hill country and all the Negev, all that land of Goshen, the lowland, the Arabah, the hill country of Israel and its lowland

from Mount Halak, that rises toward Seir, even as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon at the foot of Mount Hermon And he captured all their kings and struck them down and put them to death.

Joshua waged war a long time with all these kings.

There was not a city which made peace with the sons of Israel except the Hivites living in Gibeon; they took them all in battle.

For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to meet Israel in battle in order that he might utterly destroy them, that they might receive no mercy, but that he might destroy them, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

そのとき，ヨシュアは行って，アナク人を，山地，ヘブロン，デビル，アナブ，ユダのすべての山地，イスラエルのすべての山地から斷ち，彼らをその町¿とともに聖絶した．

それでイスラエル人の地には，アナク人がいなくなった．ただガザ，ガテ，アシュドデにわずかの者が殘っていた．

こうしてヨシュアは，その地をことごとく取った．すべて主がモ ― セに告げたとおりであった．ヨシュアはこの地を，イスラエルの部族の割り當てにしたがって，相續地としてイスラエルに分け與えた．その地に戰爭はやんだ．

Then Joshua came at that time and cut off the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab and from all the hill country of Judah and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.

There were no Anakim left in the land of the sons of Israel; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod some remained.

So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes Thus the land had rest from war.

	정복당한 왕들(12:1-12:24)

イスラエル人は，ヨルダン川の向こう側，日の上る方で，アルノン川からヘルモン山まで，それと東アラバの全部を打ち，それを占領したが，その地の王たちは次のとおりである．

エモリ人の王シホン．彼はヘシュボンに住み，アルノン川の緣にあるアロエル，川の中部とギルアデの半分，アモン人の國境のヤボク川までを支配していた．

ヘルモン山，サルカ，ゲシュル人とマアカ人の國境に至るバシャンの全土，およびギルアデの半分，ヘシュボンの王シホンの國境までを支配していた．

Now these are the kings of the land whom the sons of Israel defeated, and whose land they possessed beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise, from the valley of the Arnon as far as Mount Hermon, and all the Arabah to the east:

Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, both the middle of the valley and half of Gilead, even as far as the brook Jabbok, the border of the sons of Ammon;

and the Arabah as far as the Sea of Chinneroth toward the east, and as far as the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, eastward toward Beth-jeshimoth, and on the south, at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah;

and the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of the remnant of Rephaim, who lived at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

and ruled over Mount Hermon and Salecah and all Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and half of Gilead, as far as the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

主のしもべモ ― セとイスラエル人とは彼らを打った．主のしもべモ ― セは，ルベン人と，ガド人と，マナセの半部族に，これらを所有地として與えた．

ヨシュアとイスラエル人とがヨルダン川のこちら側，西のほうで，レバノンの谷にあるバアル · ガドから，セイルへ上って行くハラク山までの地で打った王たちは，次のとおりである． ·· ヨシュアはこの地をイスラエルの部族に，所有地，その割り當ての地として與えた． ··

Moses the servant of the LORD and the sons of Israel defeated them; and Moses the servant of the LORD gave it to the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh as a possession.

Now these are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the sons of Israel defeated beyond the Jordan toward the west, from Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon even as far as Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir; and Joshua gave it to the tribes of Israel as a possession according to their divisions,

in the hill country, in the lowland, in the Arabah, on the slopes, and in the wilderness, and in the Negev; the Hittite, the Amorite and the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite:

the king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;

the king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;

ホルマの王ひとり．アラデの王ひとり．

the king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

the king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;

the king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;

the king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

the king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

マケダの王ひとり．ベテルの王ひとり．

タプアハの王ひとり．ヘフェルの王ひとり．

アフェクの王ひとり．シャロンの王ひとり．

マドンの王ひとり．ハツォルの王ひとり．

シムロン · メロンの王ひとり．アクシャフの王ひとり．

the king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;

the king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

the king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

the king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;

the king of Shimron-meron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;

タナクの王ひとり．メギドの王ひとり．

ケデシュの王ひとり．カルメルのヨクネアムの王ひとり．

ドルの高地にいるドルの王ひとり．ギルガルのゴイムの王ひとり．

ティルツァの王ひとり．合計三十一人の王である．

the king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;

the king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam in Carmel, one;

the king of Dor in the heights of Dor, one; the king of Goiim in Gilgal, one;

the king of Tirzah, one: in all, thirty-one kings.
