- わが 子よ． よく 聞いて， 知惠を 得， あなたの 心に， まっすぐ 道を 步ませよ．
- 大酒飮みや， 肉をむさぼり 食う 者と 交わるな．
- 大酒飮みとむさぼり 食う 者とは 貧しくなり， 惰眠をむさぼる 者は， ぼろをまとうようになるからだ．
- あなたを 生んだ 父の 言うことを 聞け． あなたの 年老いた 母をさげすんではならない．
- 眞理を 買え． それを 賣ってはならない． 知惠と 訓戒と 悟りも．

- Listen, my son, and be wise, And direct your heart in the way.
- Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat;
- For the heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe one with rags.
- Listen to your father who begot you, And do not despise your mother when she is old.
- Buy truth, and do not sell it, Get wisdom and instruction and understanding.
