	느헤미야 3:1-4:23 이스라엘 백성들은 성벽 건축과 중수에 각기 맡은 대로 헌신하였다. 산발랏과 도비야의 세력들은 성벽 건축 방해 음모를 꾸몄다. 그러나 이 사실을 안 느헤미야는 하나님께 기도하였고 백성들에게 성벽 공사를 진행할 때 노역과 파수를 번갈아 가며 참여하도록 하였다.

	성벽 건축자들(3:1-3:32)

こうして，大祭司エルヤシブは，その兄弟の祭司たちと，羊の門の再建に取りかかった．彼らはそれを聖別して，とびらを取りつけた．彼らはメアのやぐらまで聖別し，ハナヌエルのやぐらにまで及んだ．

彼の次にエリコの人¿が建て，その次にイムリの子ザクルが建てた．

魚の門はセナアの子らが建てた．彼らは梁を置き，とびら，かんぬき，橫木を取りつけた．

彼らの次に，コツの子ウリヤの子であるメレモテが修理し，その次に，メシェザブエルの子ベレクヤの子であるメシュラムが修理し，その次に，バアナの子ツァドクが修理した．

その次に，テコア人たちが修理したが，そのすぐれた人たちは彼らの主人たちの工事に協力しなかった．

Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.

And next unto him builded the men of Jericho. And next to them builded Zaccur the son of Imri.

But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

And next unto them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana.

And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their LORD.

エシャナの門はパセアハの子エホヤダと，ベソデヤの子メシュラムが修理した．彼らは梁を置き，とびら，かんぬき，橫木を取りつけた．

Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

And next unto them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river.

Next unto him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall.

And next unto them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.

And next unto them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even over against his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah.

ハリムの子マルキヤと，パハテ · モアブの子ハシュブは，その續きの部分と爐のやぐらを修理した．

その次に，エルサレムの殘りの半區の長，ロヘシュの子シャルムが，自分の娘たちといっしょに修理した．

泉の門はミツパ地區の長，コル · ホゼの子シャルンが修理した．彼はそれを建て直し，屋根をつけ，とびら，かんぬき，橫木を取りつけた．また，王の園のシェラフの池の城壁を，ダビデの町から下って來る階段のところまで修理した．

Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahathmoab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.

And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.

The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.

But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.

But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.

そのあとに，ベテ · ツル地區の半區の長，アズブクの子ネヘミヤが，ダビデの墓地に面する所と，人工貯水池と，勇士たちの家のところまで修理した．

そのあとに，バニの子レフムなど，レビ人たちが修理した．その次に，ケイラ地區の半區の長，ハシャブヤが，自分の區域のために修理した．

そのあとに，ケイラの殘りの半地區の長，ヘナダデの子バワイなど，彼らの同僚たちが修理した．

その次に，ミツパの長，ヨシュアの子エゼルが，城壁の曲がりかどにある武器倉への上り坂に面した續きの部分を修理した．

そのあとに，ザカイの子バルクが，城壁の曲がりかどから大祭司エルヤシブの家の門のところまでの續きの部分を，熱心に修理した．

After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.

After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.

After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.

And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the going up to the armoury at the turning of the wall.

After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

そのあとに，コツの子ウリヤの子メレモテが，エルヤシブの家の門からエルヤシブの家の端までの續きの部分を修理した．

そのあとに，低地の人¿である祭司たちが修理した．

そのあとに，ベニヤミンとハシュブが，彼らの家に面する所を修理した．そのあとに，アナネヤの子マアセヤの子アザルヤが，自分の家の近くを修理した．

そのあとに，ヘナダデの子ビヌイが，アザルヤの家から城壁の曲がりかどの，隅までの續きの部分を修理した．

ウザイの子パラルは，城壁の曲がりかどに面した所と，監視の庭のそばにあって，王宮から高く突き出ているやぐらを修理した．そのあとに，パルオシュの子ペダヤと，

After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.

And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.

After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub over against their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house.

After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner.

Palal the son of Uzai, over against the turning of the wall, and the tower which lieth out from the king's high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.

オフェルの住民で宮に仕えるしもべたちとは，東のほうの水の門，および突き出ているやぐらに面する所までを修理した．

そのあとに，テコア人が，突き出ている大きなやぐらに面している所から，オフェルの城壁までの續きの部分を修理した．

馬の門から上のほうは，祭司たちがそれぞれ，自分の家に面する所を修理した．

そのあとに，イメルの子ツァドクが，自分の家に面する所を修理した．そのあとに，シェカヌヤの子，東の門を守る者シェマヤが修理した．

そのあとに，シェレムヤの子ハナヌヤと，ツァラフの六男ハヌンが，その續きの部分を修理した．そのあとに，ベレクヤの子メシュラムが，自分の部屋に面する部分を修理した．

Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lieth out.

After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, over against the great tower that lieth out, even unto the wall of Ophel.

From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house.

After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.

After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah over against his chamber.

そのあとに，金細工人のひとりマルキヤは，召集の門の向かい側にある宮に仕えるしもべたちや商人たちの家を，かどの二階の部屋のところまで修理した．

かどの二階の部屋と羊の門の間は，金細工人と商人たちが修理した．

After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, over against the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner.

And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.

	방해 세력(4:1-4:23)

サヌバラテは私たちが城壁を修復していることを聞くと，怒り，また非常に憤慨して，ユダヤ人たちをあざけった．

彼はその同胞と，サマリヤの有力者たちの前で言った．「この哀れなユダヤ人たちは，いったい何をしているのか．あれを修復して，いけにえ� ¿氣氣歐玆 Δ 箸垢襪里 · ０貽¿濃轉紊歐玆 Δ 箸垢襪里 ··討韻討靴¿辰神¿鬚舛蠅 △·燭了海 ·¿犬¿屬¿擦玆 Δ 箸垢襪里 ··�

彼のそばにいたアモン人トビヤもまた，「彼らの建て直している城壁なら，一匹の狐が上っても，その石垣をくずしてしまうだろう．」と言った．

「お聞きください，私たちの神．私たちは輕蔑されています．彼らのそしりを彼らの頭に返し，彼らが捕囚の地でかすめ奪われるようにしてください．

彼らの咎を赦すことなく，彼らの罪を御前からぬぐい去らないでください．彼らは建て直す者たちを侮辱したからです．」

But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?

Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.

Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:

And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.

こうして，私たちは城壁を建て直し，城壁はみな，その高さの半分まで繼ぎ合わされた．民に ¿く氣があったからである．

ところが，サヌバラテ，トビヤ，アラブ人，アモン人，アシュドデ人たちは，エルサレムの城壁の修復がはかどり，割れ目もふさがり始めたことを聞いたとき，非常に怒り，

彼らはみな共にエルサレムに攻め入り，混亂を起こそうと陰謀を企てた．

しかし私たちは，私たちの神に祈り，彼らに備えて日夜見張りを置いた．

そのとき，ユダの人¿は言った．「荷をになう者の力は衰えているのに，ちりあくたは山をなしている．私たちは城壁を築くことはできない．」

So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,

And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.

Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.

一方，私たちの敵は言った．「彼らの知らないうちに，また見ないうちに，彼らの眞中にはいり ¿んで，彼らを殺し，その工事をやめさせよう．」

そこで，彼らの近くに住んでいたユダヤ人たちがやって來て，四方から十回も私たちに言った．「私たちのところに戾って來てほしい．」

そこで私は，民をその家族ごとに，城壁のうしろの低い所の，空地に，劍や槍や弓を持たせて配置した．

私は彼らが恐れているのを見て立ち上がり，おもだった人¿や，代表者たち，およびその他の人¿に言った．「彼らを恐れてはならない．大いなる恐るべき主を覺え，自分たちの兄弟，息子，娘，妻，また家のために戰いなさい．」

私たちの敵が，彼らのたくらみは私たちに悟られ，神がそれを打ちこわされたということを聞いたとき，私たちはみな，城壁に歸り，それぞれ自分の工事に戾った．

And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.

And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you.

Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.

その日以來，私に仕える若い者の半分は工事を續け，他の半分は，槍や，盾，弓，よろいで身を固めていた．一方，隊長たちはユダの全家を守った．

城壁を築く者たち，荷をかついで運ぶ者たちは，片手で仕事をし，片手に投げ槍を堅く握っていた．

築く者は，それぞれ劍を腰にして築き，角笛を吹き鳴らす者は，私のそばにいた．

私はおもだった人¿や，代表者たち，およびその他の人¿に言った．「この工事は大きく，また廣がっている．私たちは城壁の上で互いに遠く離れ離れになっている．

どこででも，あなたがたが角笛の鳴るのを聞いたら，私たちのところに集まって來なさい．私たちの神が私たちのために戰ってくださるのだ．」

And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.

They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.

For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.

And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.

In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.

こうして，私たちはこの工事を進めたが，その半分の者は，夜明けから星の現われる時まで，槍を手に取っていた．

そのときまた，私は民に言った．「だれでも自分に仕える若い者といっしょにエルサレムのうちで夜を明かすようにしなさい．そうすれば，夜にも見張りがおり， ¿には ¿くことができる．」

私も，私の親類の者も，私に仕える若い者たちも，私を守る見張りの人¿も，私たちのうちのだれも，服を脫がず，それぞれ投げ槍を手にしていた．

So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.

So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.
