사사기 10:1-11:40

 돌라와 야일의 지도하에 평온한 시기를 지내던 이스라엘이 우상 숭배에 빠져 방종하자 하나님께서 암몬 자손과 블레셋 사람에게 고통당하게 하셨다. 그러나 이스라엘의 곤고를 보신 하나님은 입다를 통해 구원하셨다. 입다는 암몬과의 전투에서 승리하여 이스라엘을 구원했으나 경솔한 서원을 하여 딸을 잃고 말았다.
  
  암몬 자손의 침략(10:1-10:18)    
 
  1. Now after Abimelech died, Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, arose to save Israel; and he lived in Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim.
  2. He judged Israel twenty-three years. Then he died and was buried in Shamir.
  3. After him, Jair the Gileadite arose and judged Israel twenty-two years.
  4. He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys, and they had thirty cities in the land of Gilead that are called Havvoth-jair to this day.
  5. And Jair died and was buried in Kamon.
  1. 아비멜렉 다음에는 이싸갈 출신인 돌라라는 사람이 이스라엘을 구하러 일어났다. 그는 도도의 손자이자 부아의 아들이었는데 에브라임 산악 지대에 있는 사밀이라는 곳에 살고 있었다.
  2. 그는 이십삼 년 동안 이스라엘의 판관으로 있다가 죽어 사밀에 묻혔다.
  3. 그 다음에 길르앗 출신 야이르가 일어나 이십이 년 동안 이스라엘을 다스렸다.

  1. Then the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, served the Baals and the Ashtaroth, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the sons of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; thus they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him.
  2. The anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and into the hands of the sons of Ammon.
  3. They afflicted and crushed the sons of Israel that year; for eighteen years they afflicted all the sons of Israel who were beyond the Jordan in Gilead in the land of the Amorites.
  4. The sons of Ammon crossed the Jordan to fight also against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was greatly distressed.
  5. Then the sons of Israel cried out to the LORD, saying, "We have sinned against You, for indeed, we have forsaken our God and served the Baals."
  1. 이스라엘 백성이 다시 야훼의 눈에 거슬리는 일을 하였다. 그들은 바알과 아스다롯, 아람의 신들과 시돈의 신들, 모압의 신들, 암몬 백성의 신들, 불레셋 사람의 신들을 섬겼다. 이렇게 그들은 야훼를 저버리고 그를 섬기지 않았다.
  2. 이스라엘이 저지르는 이런 짓들이 노여우시어 야훼께서는 그들을 불레셋 사람과 암몬 백성의 손에 넘기셨다.
  3. 그리하여 그들은 요르단 강 건너편 길르앗 지방 아모리 땅에 사는 모든 이스라엘 사람들을 십팔 년 동안 억압하며 짓밟았다.
  4. 암몬 백성은 또 요르단 강을 건너 유다와 베냐민과 에브라임 족속을 쳤다. 이스라엘의 고생은 막심하였다.
  5. 그리 되자 이스라엘 백성은 야훼께 부르짖었다. "우리가 주께 죄를 지었습니다. 우리 하느님 야훼를 저버리고 바알 신들을 섬겼습니다."
  1. The LORD said to the sons of Israel, "Did I not deliver you from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the sons of Ammon, and the Philistines?
  2. "Also when the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you, you cried out to Me, and I delivered you from their hands.
  3. "Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods; therefore I will no longer deliver you.
  4. "Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your distress."
  5. The sons of Israel said to the LORD, "We have sinned, do to us whatever seems good to You; only please deliver us this day."
  1. 야훼께서 이스라엘 백성에게 말씀하셨다. "이집트인들과 아모리 사람과 암몬 백성과 불레셋 사람과
  2. 시돈 사람과 아말렉족과 미디안족이 너희를 못살게 굴 때에 너희는 나에게 부르짖었다. 그래서 나는 너희를 그들의 손아귀에서 건져내 주었다.
  3. 그랬는데도 너희는 나를 저버리고 다른 신들을 섬겼다. 어떻게 내가 이제 너희를 다시 건져내 주랴?
  4. 너희가 선택한 신들에게나 가서 부르짖어 보아라. 너희가 어려운 일을 당할 때 그 신들이 너희를 살려주어야 하지 않겠느냐?"
  5. 그러자 이스라엘 백성이 야훼께 아뢰었다. "우리가 죽을 죄를 지었습니다. 좋으실 대로 하십시오. 다만 이번만은 우리를 살려주셔야 하겠습니다."
  1. So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD; and He could bear the misery of Israel no longer.
  2. Then the sons of Ammon were summoned and they camped in Gilead. And the sons of Israel gathered together and camped in Mizpah.
  3. The people, the leaders of Gilead, said to one another, "Who is the man who will begin to fight against the sons of Ammon? He shall become head over all the inhabitants of Gilead."
  1. 그리고는 남의 나라 신들을 없애버리고 야훼를 섬기자, 야훼께서는 이스라엘이 겪는 고통을 보고만 계실 수 없게 되었다.
  2. 마침 암몬 군이 길르앗에 몰려와 진을 쳤다. 이와 대치하여 이스라엘 군은 미스바에 모여 진을 쳤다.
  3. 그 때 길르앗 백성의 추장들은 누구든지 나가서 암몬 군과 싸우면, 그 사람을 길르앗 전 주민의 통치자로 삼자고 의견을 모았다.
 
  입다의 서원(11:1-11:40)    
 
  1. Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a valiant warrior, but he was the son of a harlot. And Gilead was the father of Jephthah.
  2. Gilead's wife bore him sons; and when his wife's sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out and said to him, "You shall not have an inheritance in our father's house, for you are the son of another woman."
  3. So Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob; and worthless fellows gathered themselves about Jephthah, and they went out with him.
  4. It came about after a while that the sons of Ammon fought against Israel.
  5. When the sons of Ammon fought against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah from the land of Tob;
  1. 마침 길르앗 사람 가운데 입다라는 굉장한 장사가 있었는데, 그는 길르앗이라는 사람이 창녀의 몸에서 얻은 아들이었다.
  2. 길르앗의 본처에게서 난 아들이 여럿 있었는데, 그 아들들이 자라서 입다에게 "너는 바깥 여자에게서 난 놈이야. 그러니 우리 아버지의 상속을 받을 수 없어." 하면서 그를 쫓아내었다.
  3. 그래서 입다는 자기 형제들을 떠나 돕이라고 하는 지방에 도망가서 살았는데 건달패들을 모아 비적떼의 두목이 되어 있었다.
  4. 암몬 사람들이 이스라엘을 쳐들어온 것은 이런 일이 있은 지 얼마 뒤의 일이었다.
  5. 암몬 백성이 이스라엘을 공격해 오자, 길르앗 원로들은 돕 지방으로 입다를 데리러 가서
  1. and they said to Jephthah, "Come and be our chief that we may fight against the sons of Ammon."
  2. Then Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "Did you not hate me and drive me from my father's house? So why have you come to me now when you are in trouble?"
  3. The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "For this reason we have now returned to you, that you may go with us and fight with the sons of Ammon and become head over all the inhabitants of Gilead."
  4. So Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "If you take me back to fight against the sons of Ammon and the LORD gives them up to me, will I become your head?"
  5. The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "The LORD is witness between us; surely we will do as you have said."
  1. 그에게 청했다. "그대가 와서 우리의 장군이 되어주어야 우리가 암몬 군을 칠 수 있겠소."
  2. "나를 미워하여 내 가문에서 쫓아내던 때는 언제고 어려운 일이 생겼다고 해서 나한테 올 때는 또 언제요?" 입다는 길르앗 원로들의 청을 들으려고 하지 않았다.
  3. "그래서 우리가 그대를 찾아온 것이 아니오?" 하며 길르앗 원로들은 입다에게 청하였다. "우리하고 같이 가서 암몬 백성을 물리쳐만 준다면, 우리 길르앗 사람들은 그대를 수령으로 모시겠소."
  4. 입다가 길르앗 원로들에게 재우쳐 물었다. "내가 당신들하고 같이 가서 암몬 백성과 싸운다고 합시다. 그 때 야훼께서 그들을 내 손에 부치시면 당신들이 나를 수령으로 받든단 말이지요?"
  5. "야훼께서 우리 사이에 오고 가는 말을 다 듣고 계십니다. 우리가 장군 말씀대로 하는가 하지 않는가 두고 보시오." 길르앗 원로들이 이렇게 다짐하자,
  1. Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and chief over them; and Jephthah spoke all his words before the LORD at Mizpah.
  2. Now Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the sons of Ammon, saying, "What is between you and me, that you have come to me to fight against my land?"
  3. The king of the sons of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthah, "Because Israel took away my land when they came up from Egypt, from the Arnon as far as the Jabbok and the Jordan; therefore, return them peaceably now."
  4. But Jephthah sent messengers again to the king of the sons of Ammon,
  5. and they said to him, "Thus says Jephthah, 'Israel did not take away the land of Moab nor the land of the sons of Ammon.
  1. 입다는 길르앗 원로들을 따라 나섰다. 백성들이 그를 수령이자 사령관으로 받들어 모시게 되자, 입다는 야훼 앞에서 백성들에게 다짐을 받았다. 그 곳은 미스바였다.
  2. 입다는 암몬족 임금에게 사절을 보내어 말을 전했다. "나와 그대 사이에 무엇이 잘못됐다고 내 영토에 쳐들어왔는가?"
  3. 암몬족 임금은 입다의 사절에게 이렇게 대답하였다. "이스라엘이 이집트에서 올라올 때 아르논 개울과 야뽁 강 사이에 있는 내 영토를 요르단 강에 이르기까지 빼앗지 않았느냐? 이제 그것을 고이 돌려보내라."
  4. 입다는 암몬족 임금에게 다시 사절을 보내어 이렇게 전하였다.
  5. "나 입다가 말한다. 이스라엘은 모압 영토나 암몬족의 영토를 빼앗은 적이 없다.
  1. 'For when they came up from Egypt, and Israel went through the wilderness to the Red Sea and came to Kadesh,
  2. then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, "Please let us pass through your land," but the king of Edom would not listen And they also sent to the king of Moab, but he would not consent. So Israel remained at Kadesh.
  3. 'Then they went through the wilderness and around the land of Edom and the land of Moab, and came to the east side of the land of Moab, and they camped beyond the Arnon; but they did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab.
  4. 'And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon, and Israel said to him, "Please let us pass through your land to our place."
  5. 'But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his territory; so Sihon gathered all his people and camped in Jahaz and fought with Israel.
  1. 이스라엘이 이집트에서 나올 때 광야를 거쳐 홍해를 지나 카데스에 이르러
  2. 에돔 왕에게 사절을 보내어 그의 영토를 지나가게 해달라고 청한 일이 있었다. 그런데 에돔 왕은 이를 허락하지 않았다. 이스라엘은 모압 왕에게도 사절을 보냈으나 그도 거절하여 할 수 없이 카데스에 머물러 있다가
  3. 광야를 지나 에돔과 모압 영토를 돌아서 모압 영토 동편으로 갔었다. 아르논 개울이 그 국경이었으므로 아르논 개울 건너편에 진을 치고는 모압 국경에는 발을 들여놓지 않았다.
  4. 그래서 이스라엘은 헤스본에서 왕노릇 하는 아모리족의 임금 시혼에게 사절을 보내어 목적지에 이르기까지 그의 영토를 지나가게 해달라고 청을 넣었다.
  5. 그런데 시혼은 이스라엘이 자기 영토를 지나가는 것을 허락하기는커녕 군대를 총동원해 가지고 나와서 야하스에 진을 치고 이스라엘과 싸웠다.
  1. 'The LORD, the God of Israel, gave Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they defeated them; so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.
  2. 'So they possessed all the territory of the Amorites, from the Arnon as far as the Jabbok, and from the wilderness as far as the Jordan.
  3. 'Since now the LORD, the God of Israel, drove out the Amorites from before His people Israel, are you then to possess it?
  4. 'Do you not possess what Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whatever the LORD our God has driven out before us, we will possess it.
  5. 'Now are you any better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever strive with Israel, or did he ever fight against them?
  1. 그러나 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 시혼과 그의 온 군대를 이스라엘 손에 부치셨으므로 이스라엘은 그들을 쳐부수고 그 지역에 살던 아모리 사람들을 몰아내고는 그 땅을 차지하게 되었던 것이다.
  2. 이렇게 해서 이스라엘은 아르논 개울과 야뽁 강 사이에 있는 아모리 사람들의 온 땅을 광야에서 요르단 강에 이르기까지 차지하게 되었던 것이다.
  3. 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 당신의 백성 이스라엘 앞에서 아모리 사람들을 몰아내셨는데, 이제 와서 네가 우리를 몰아내겠단 말이냐?
  4. 너는 네가 섬기는 신 그모스가 빼앗아준 땅을 다 차지하고 있지 않느냐? 우리도 우리의 신 야훼께서 빼앗아주신 땅을 차지하고 있는데, 어떻단 말이냐?
  5. 모압 왕 시뽈의 아들 발락도 이스라엘과 대항할 엄두를 못 내고 싸우지 못했는데, 네가 얼마나 잘났다고 감히 덤비느냐?
  1. 'While Israel lived in Heshbon and its villages, and in Aroer and its villages, and in all the cities that are on the banks of the Arnon, three hundred years, why did you not recover them within that time?
  2. 'I therefore have not sinned against you, but you are doing me wrong by making war against me; may the LORD, the Judge, judge today between the sons of Israel and the sons of Ammon.'"
  3. But the king of the sons of Ammon disregarded the message which Jephthah sent him.
  4. Now the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, so that he passed through Gilead and Manasseh; then he passed through Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he went on to the sons of Ammon.
  5. Jephthah made a vow to the LORD and said, "If You will indeed give the sons of Ammon into my hand,
  1. 이스라엘이 헤스본과 거기 딸린 촌락, 아로엘과 거기 딸린 촌락, 또 요르단 강을 끼고 있는 마을들에 자리잡고 산 지도 삼백 년이나 되었는데, 너는 왜 여태까지 이 고장들을 찾지 않았느냐?
  2. 나는 너에게 잘못한 일이 하나도 없다. 그런데 네가 나에게 악의를 품고 전쟁을 걸어오다니 어찌 된 일이냐? 심판자 야훼께서 오늘날 이스라엘 백성과 암몬 백성 사이를 판가름해 주시기 바란다."
  3. 그러나 암몬족의 임금은 입다에게서 온 전갈을 듣고도 못 들은 체하였다.
  4. 야훼의 영이 입다에게 내렸다. 그는 길르앗과 므나쎄 지역을 일주하고 길르앗 미스바에 있다가 다시 거기에서 암몬 군의 배후로 돌았다.
  5. 거기에서 입다는 야훼께 서원하였다. "만일 하느님께서 저 암몬 군을 제 손에 부쳐주신다면,
  1. then it shall be that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the sons of Ammon, it shall be the LORD'S, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering."
  2. So Jephthah crossed over to the sons of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD gave them into his hand.
  3. He struck them with a very great slaughter from Aroer to the entrance of Minnith, twenty cities, and as far as Abel-keramim. So the sons of Ammon were subdued before the sons of Israel.
  4. When Jephthah came to his house at Mizpah, behold, his daughter was coming out to meet him with tambourines and with dancing. Now she was his one and only child; besides her he had no son or daughter.
  5. When he saw her, he tore his clothes and said, "Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you are among those who trouble me; for I have given my word to the LORD, and I cannot take it back."
  1. 암몬 군을 쳐부수고 돌아올 때 제 집 문에서 저를 맞으러 처음 나오는 사람을 야훼께 번제로 바쳐 올리겠습니다."
  2. 그리고 나서 입다는 암몬 진지로 쳐들어갔다. 야훼께서 그들을 그의 손에 부쳐주셨으므로
  3. 아로엘에서 민닛 어귀에 이르기까지 스무 성읍을 쳐부수었다. 또 아벨그라밈까지 진격하며 마구 짓부수었다. 이리하여 암몬 군은 이스라엘 군에게 꺾이고 말았다.
  4. 입다가 미스바에 있는 집으로 돌아오는데, 소구를 잡고 춤을 추며 집에서 나와 그를 맞은 것은 그의 외동딸이었다.
  5. 입다는 자기 딸이 나오는 것을 보고 옷을 찢으며 외쳤다. "아이고, 이 자식아, 네가 내 가슴에 칼을 꽂는구나. 내가 입을 열어 야훼께 한 말이 있는데, 천하 없어도 그 말은 돌이킬 수 없는데 이를 어쩐단 말이냐!"
  1. So she said to him, "My father, you have given your word to the LORD; do to me as you have said, since the LORD has avenged you of your enemies, the sons of Ammon."
  2. She said to her father, "Let this thing be done for me; let me alone two months, that I may go to the mountains and weep because of my virginity, I and my companions."
  3. Then he said, "Go." So he sent her away for two months; and she left with her companions, and wept on the mountains because of her virginity.
  4. At the end of two months she returned to her father, who did to her according to the vow which he had made; and she had no relations with a man. Thus it became a custom in Israel,
  5. that the daughters of Israel went yearly to commemorate the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in the year.
  1. 그러자 딸이 아뢰었다. "아버지, 아버지께서 저를 두고 야훼께 하신 말씀이 있으시다면 그대로 하십시오. 야훼께서 아버지의 적수인 암몬 사람들에게 복수해 주셨는데, 저야 아무러면 어떻습니까?"
  2. 그리고서 딸은 한 가지만 허락해 달라고 하며 아버지에게 청을 드렸다. "두 달만 저에게 말미를 주십시오. 그러면 벗들과 함께 산으로 들어가 돌아다니며 처녀로 죽는 몸, 실컷 울어 한이나 풀겠습니다."
  3. 입다는 두 달 말미를 주어 딸을 떠나 보냈다. 두 달 동안 딸은 벗들과 함께 산에 들어가 처녀로 죽는 것을 한하여 실컷 울었다.
  4. 두 달이 지나 아버지에게 돌아오자 아버지는 딸을 서원한 대로 하였다. 그 딸은 남자를 안 일이 없었다. 이로부터 이스라엘에는 한가지 관습이 생겼다.
  5. 길르앗 사람 입다의 딸을 생각하고 이스라엘 처녀들은 해마다 집을 떠나 나흘 동안을 애곡하게 된 것이다.
