사사기 15:1-16:31

 아내를 빼앗긴 삼손은 매우 분노하여 블레셋 사람의 농작물을 불태우고 나귀의 턱뼈로 일천 명을 죽였다. 그 후 삼손은 들릴라를 사랑하게 되었지만 그녀의 꾐에 빠져 자신의 힘의 비밀을 발설하였고, 결국 블레셋인들에게 잡혀 곤욕을 당했다. 블레셋 신전에서 조롱당하던 삼손은 하나님께 간구하여 신전 기둥을 무너뜨림으로써 많은 블레셋 사람들을 죽이고 자신도 최후를 맞았다.
  
  삼손의 보복(15:1-15:20)    
 
  1. But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a young goat, and said, "I will go in to my wife in her room." But her father did not let him enter.
  2. Her father said, "I really thought that you hated her intensely; so I gave her to your companion. Is not her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please let her be yours instead."
  3. Samson then said to them, "This time I shall be blameless in regard to the Philistines when I do them harm."
  4. Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned the foxes tail to tail and put one torch in the middle between two tails.
  5. When he had set fire to the torches, he released the foxes into the standing grain of the Philistines, thus burning up both the shocks and the standing grain, along with the vineyards and groves.
  1. 이런 일이 있은 지 얼마 후의 일이었다. 삼손은 밀 추수할 때가 되어 염소 새끼 한 마리를 가지고 아내를 찾아가서 마누라 방에 들겠다고 하였다. 그런데 장인이 앞을 막으며
  2. 말하였다. "나는 자네가 그 애를 몹시 미워할 줄 알았네. 그래서 자네 아내를 들러리 섰던 사람에게 주어버렸지. 그러나 자네 처제가 더 좋으니, 그 애를 언니 대신 받아주지 않겠나?"
  3. "이번만은 너희 불레셋 사람들도 나에게 골탕을 먹는다고 해서 나를 탓하지는 못할 것이다." 삼손은 거기에 있는 사람들에게 이렇게 말하며
  4. 나가서 여우 삼백 마리를 잡아 꼬리를 서로 비끄러매고는 두 꼬리를 맨 사이에 준비해 두었던 홰를 하나씩 매달아 놓고
  5. 그 홰에 불을 붙인 다음 여우들을 불레셋 사람 곡식 밭으로 내몰았다. 이렇게 하여 그는 곡식 가리뿐 아니라 베지 않은 곡식과 포도덩굴과 올리브 나무까지 태워버렸다.
  1. Then the Philistines said, "Who did this?" And they said, "Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion." So the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.
  2. Samson said to them, "Since you act like this, I will surely take revenge on you, but after that I will quit."
  3. He struck them ruthlessly with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Etam.
  4. Then the Philistines went up and camped in Judah, and spread out in Lehi.
  5. The men of Judah said, "Why have you come up against us?" And they said, "We have come up to bind Samson in order to do to him as he did to us."
  1. 불레셋 사람들은 누가 그 짓을 했는지 수소문을 하였다. 마침내 딤나 사람이 삼손에게 딸을 시집보냈다가 빼앗아서 들러리 섰던 사람에게 주어버렸기 때문에 일어난 일인 줄 알게 되었다. 그리하여 불레셋 사람들은 그 여인이 사는 데로 올라가서 그 일족을 모두 태워 죽였다.
  2. 그러자 삼손이 그들에게 말하였다. "너희가 이 따위 짓을 했는데, 내가 가만 둘 줄 아느냐? 너희에게 원수를 갚는지 안 갚는지 어디 두고 보아라."
  3. 삼손은 불레셋 사람들에게 덮쳐 들어가 마구 잡아 죽이고는 에탐이라는 곳에 있는 동굴로 내려가서 쉬고 있었다.
  4. 불레셋 사람들은 유다 지방으로 쳐 올라와 진을 치고 레히를 쳐들어가 마구 짓밟았다.
  5. 유다 사람들이 무엇 때문에 이렇게 공격하는 거냐고 묻자, 그들은 삼손을 잡으러 왔다고 하면서 삼손이 우리에게 한 대로 우리도 삼손에게 해주고야 말겠다고 하였다.
  1. Then 3,000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam and said to Samson, "Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?" And he said to them, "As they did to me, so I have done to them."
  2. They said to him, "We have come down to bind you so that we may give you into the hands of the Philistines." And Samson said to them, "Swear to me that you will not kill me."
  3. So they said to him, "No, but we will bind you fast and give you into their hands; yet surely we will not kill you." Then they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.
  4. When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him mightily so that the ropes that were on his arms were as flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds dropped from his hands.
  5. He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, so he reached out and took it and killed a thousand men with it.
  1. 이 말을 듣고 유다 사람 삼천 명이 에탐에 있는 동굴로 내려가 삼손에게 말하였다. "자네는 우리가 불레셋 사람들의 지배를 받고 있는 줄 모르지 않겠지? 이런 일을 하면 우리가 어떻게 될지 그쯤은 알 텐데, 어찌하여 이런 일을 했는가?" 그가 대답하였다. "나는 그들이 나에게 한 대로 해주었을 뿐이오."
  2. 그러자 그들이 말하였다. "우리는 자네를 묶어다가 불레셋 사람들에게 넘겨주어야겠기에 이렇게 내려온 걸세." 그가 그들에게 말하였다. "그렇다면 당신들이 나를 죽이지는 않겠다고 맹세해 주시오."
  3. 그들이 대답하였다. "그러지. 우리는 자네를 죽일 생각은 추호도 없어. 자네를 묶어서 넘겨주기만 하면 되는 거야." 그리고는 새로 꼰 밧줄 둘로 삼손을 묶고 그 동굴에서 데리고 나왔다.
  4. 삼손이 레히에 이르자 불레셋 사람들이 소리를 지르며 달려오는데 야훼의 영이 그를 덮쳤다. 그러자 그의 팔을 동여맸던 밧줄은 불에 탄 삼오라기처럼 툭툭 끊어져 나갔다.
  5. 마침 거기에 죽은 지 얼마 안 되는 당나귀의 턱뼈가 하나 있었다. 삼손은 그것을 집어들고 휘둘러서 천 명이나 죽이고는
  1. Then Samson said, "With the jawbone of a donkey, Heaps upon heaps, With the jawbone of a donkey I have killed a thousand men."
  2. When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone from his hand; and he named that place Ramath-lehi.
  3. Then he became very thirsty, and he called to the LORD and said, "You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant, and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?"
  4. But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi so that water came out of it. When he drank, his strength returned and he revived. Therefore he named it En-hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.
  5. So he judged Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines.
  1. 외쳤다. "당나귀 턱뼈로 이자들을 모조리 묵사발을 만들었네. 나는 당나귀 턱뼈로 천 명이나 쳐죽였네."
  2. 이렇게 외치고 나서 삼손은 그 턱뼈를 내던졌다. 그 곳을 라맛레히라 부르게 된 데는 이런 사연이 있다.
  3. 삼손은 몹시 목이 탔다. 그래서 야훼께 부르짖었다. "당신은 이 소인의 손으로 큰 승리를 거두셨습니다. 그런데 이제 저는 목이 타 죽게 되었습니다. 저 할례받지 못한 오랑캐들의 손에 넘어가고 말겠습니다."
  4. 하느님께서는 그 곳 레히의 우묵하게 꺼진 데서 물이 터져 나오게 하셨다. 삼손은 그 물을 마시고 기운을 차렸다. 그 샘이 오늘까지도 레히에 있는데, 그 샘을 엔학코레라고 부르게 된 데는 이런 사연이 있다.
  5. 삼손은 불레셋 시대에 이십 년 동안 이스라엘의 판관으로 있었다.
 
  삼손의 죽음(16:1-16:31)    
 
  1. Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her.
  2. When it was told to the Gazites, saying, "Samson has come here," they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. And they kept silent all night, saying, "Let us wait until the morning light, then we will kill him."
  3. Now Samson lay until midnight, and at midnight he arose and took hold of the doors of the city gate and the two posts and pulled them up along with the bars; then he put them on his shoulders and carried them up to the top of the mountain which is opposite Hebron.
  4. After this it came about that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
  5. The lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, "Entice him, and see where his great strength lies and how we may overpower him that we may bind him to afflict him. Then we will each give you eleven hundred pieces of silver."
  1. 삼손이 가자에 갔다가 한 창녀를 만나 그 집에 들어간 일이 있었다.
  2. 삼손이 왔다는 소문을 듣고 가자 사람들은 성을 둘러싸고 밤새도록 성문을 지켰다. 밤새 꼼짝 않고 있다가 날이 새어 아침이 되면 죽이려는 것이었다.
  3. 삼손은 밤늦게까지 자리에 있었다. 그러다가 한밤중에야 일어나 성문을 두 문설주와 빗장째 뽑아 어깨에 메고 헤브론 맞은편 산 꼭대기에 갔다가 던져버렸다.
  4. 이 일이 있은 후, 삼손은 소렉 골짜기에 사는 한 여자를 사랑하게 되었다. 그 여자의 이름은 들릴라라고 했다.
  5. 불레셋 추장들이 그 여자를 찾아와서 부탁하였다. "그를 꾀어내어 그 큰 힘이 어디에서 나오는지 알아보아라. 어떻게 하면 그를 잡아 묶어서 맥을 못 쓰게 할 수 있을지 알아내어라. 그것만 알아내면 그 대가로 우리 모두가 너에게 은 천백 세겔씩을 주겠다."
  1. So Delilah said to Samson, "Please tell me where your great strength is and how you may be bound to afflict you."
  2. Samson said to her, "If they bind me with seven fresh cords that have not been dried, then I will become weak and be like any other man."
  3. Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven fresh cords that had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
  4. Now she had men lying in wait in an inner room. And she said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" But he snapped the cords as a string of tow snaps when it touches fire. So his strength was not discovered.
  5. Then Delilah said to Samson, "Behold, you have deceived me and told me lies; now please tell me how you may be bound."
  1. 그리하여 들릴라가 삼손에게 물었다. "당신의 그 엄청난 힘은 어디서 나오죠? 어떻게 하면 당신을 묶어서 맥이 빠지게 할 수 있을지 저한테만은 알려주셔도 되지 않아요?"
  2. 삼손이 대답하였다. "마르지 않은 새 밧줄 일곱 매끼로 묶으면 나도 맥이 빠져서 여느 사람처럼 되지."
  3. 들릴라는 불레셋 추장들에게 마르지 않은 밧줄 일곱 매끼를 받아가지고 삼손을 묶었다.
  4. 그리고는 제 방에 사람들을 숨겨놓고 있다가 소리쳤다. "여보세요. 불레셋 사람들이 당신을 잡으러 왔어요." 삼손은 밧줄을 불에 탄 삼 오라기처럼 끊어버렸다. 그리하여 그의 힘의 비밀은 알려지지 않았다.
  5. 그러자 들릴라가 삼손에게 말하였다. "당신은 나를 놀렸군요. 거짓말을 했어요. 무엇으로 당신을 묶으면 되는지 저한테만은 알려주셔도 되지 않아요?"
  1. He said to her, "If they bind me tightly with new ropes which have not been used, then I will become weak and be like any other man."
  2. So Delilah took new ropes and bound him with them and said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" For the men were lying in wait in the inner room. But he snapped the ropes from his arms like a thread.
  3. Then Delilah said to Samson, "Up to now you have deceived me and told me lies; tell me how you may be bound." And he said to her, "If you weave the seven locks of my hair with the web [and fasten it with a pin, then I will become weak and be like any other man."
  4. So while he slept, Delilah took the seven locks of his hair and wove them into the web]. And she fastened it with the pin and said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" But he awoke from his sleep and pulled out the pin of the loom and the web.
  5. Then she said to him, "How can you say, 'I love you,' when your heart is not with me? You have deceived me these three times and have not told me where your great strength is."
  1. 그가 대답하였다. "한 번도 사용하지 않은 새 밧줄로 탄탄히 묶으면 나도 맥이 빠져 여느 사람처럼 되지."
  2. 들릴라는 새 밧줄을 가져다가 삼손을 묶고는 소리쳤다. "여보세요. 불레셋 사람들이 당신을 잡으러 왔어요." 방에는 미리 사람을 숨겨두고 있었다. 삼손은 자기를 묶은 밧줄을 실오라기처럼 툭툭 끊어버렸다.
  3. 들릴라가 삼손에게 말하였다. "여전히 당신은 나를 놀리시는군요. 또 거짓말을 했어요. 무엇으로 당신을 묶으면 되는지 저한테만은 알려주셔도 되지 않아요?" 그가 대답하였다. "내 머리 일곱 가닥을 씨줄로 엮어 말뚝에 매어놓으면 나도 맥이 빠져 여느 사람처럼 되지."
  4. 들릴라는 그를 잠들게 하고 그의 머리 일곱 가닥을 씨줄로 엮어 말뚝에 매고는 외쳤다. "여보세요. 불레셋 사람들이 당신을 잡으러 왔어요." 삼손이 눈을 뜨고 일어나자 말뚝이 머리채에 감긴 채 뽑혔다.
  5. 들릴라가 그에게 말하였다. "당신은 나에게 도무지 마음이 없군요. 그러면서 나를 사랑한다구요? 벌써 나를 세 번이나 놀리셨어요. 당신의 그 엄청난 힘이 어디에서 나오는지 저한테마저 숨기시다니!"
  1. It came about when she pressed him daily with her words and urged him, that his soul was annoyed to death.
  2. So he told her all that was in his heart and said to her, "A razor has never come on my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If I am shaved, then my strength will leave me and I will become weak and be like any other man."
  3. When Delilah saw that he had told her all that was in his heart, she sent and called the lords of the Philistines, saying, "Come up once more, for he has told me all that is in his heart." Then the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hands.
  4. She made him sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his hair. Then she began to afflict him, and his strength left him.
  5. She said, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" And he awoke from his sleep and said, "I will go out as at other times and shake myself free." But he did not know that the LORD had departed from him.
  1. 날이면 날마다 악착같이 졸라대는 바람에 삼손은 귀찮아 죽을 지경이 되었다.
  2. 그래서 삼손은 마침내 속을 다 털어놓고 말았다. "나는 모태로부터 하느님께 바친 나지르인이야. 그래서 내 머리에는 면도칼이 닿아본 적이 없다. 내 머리만 깎으면, 나도 힘을 잃고 맥이 빠져 다른 사람과 조금도 다를 것이 없이 되지."
  3. 들릴라는 삼손이 자기 속을 다 털어놓은 것을 보고 불레셋 추장들을 불렀다. "한 번만 더 와보십시오. 삼손이 속을 다 털어놓았습니다." 불레셋 추장들은 돈을 가지고 왔다.
  4. 들릴라는 삼손을 무릎에 뉘어 잠재우고는 사람을 불러 그의 머리 일곱 가닥을 자르게 하였다. 그러자 삼손은 맥이 빠져 힘없는 사람이 되었다.
  5. "여보세요. 불레셋 사람들이 당신을 잡으러 왔어요." 들릴라가 이렇게 소리치는 것을 듣고 삼손은 잠에서 깨어났다. 그는 전과 같이 털고 일어나 뛰쳐나갈 수 있으려니 여겼다. 야훼께서 이미 자기를 떠나신 줄 알지 못했던 것이다.
  1. Then the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes; and they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze chains, and he was a grinder in the prison.
  2. However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it was shaved off.
  3. Now the lords of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice, for they said, "Our god has given Samson our enemy into our hands."
  4. When the people saw him, they praised their god, for they said, "Our god has given our enemy into our hands, Even the destroyer of our country, Who has slain many of us."
  5. It so happened when they were in high spirits, that they said, "Call for Samson, that he may amuse us." So they called for Samson from the prison, and he entertained them. And they made him stand between the pillars.
  1. 불레셋 사람들은 그를 잡아 눈을 뽑은 다음 가자로 끌고 내려가 놋사슬 두 줄을 메워 옥에서 연자매를 돌리게 하였다.
  2. 그러는 동안 잘렸던 그의 머리가 점점 자랐다.
  3. 불레셋 추장들은 모여서 저희의 신 다곤에게 큰 제사를 드리고 흥이 나서 외쳤다. "우리의 신이 우리의 적수 삼손을 잡아주셨다."
  4. 백성들도 그를 보고 소리치며 저희의 신을 찬양하였다. "우리 나라를 망쳐주던 자, 우리를 수도 없이 죽이던 삼손을 우리의 신이 잡아주셨다."
  5. 그들은 더욱더 신이 나서 외쳤다. "흥을 돋우게 삼손을 불러내라." 그리고 그들은 삼손을 옥에서 끌어내어 두 기둥 사이에 세워놓고 놀려주었다.
  1. Then Samson said to the boy who was holding his hand, "Let me feel the pillars on which the house rests, that I may lean against them."
  2. Now the house was full of men and women, and all the lords of the Philistines were there. And about 3,000 men and women were on the roof looking on while Samson was amusing them.
  3. Then Samson called to the LORD and said, "O Lord GOD, please remember me and please strengthen me just this time, O God, that I may at once be avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes."
  4. Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and braced himself against them, the one with his right hand and the other with his left.
  5. And Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" And he bent with all his might so that the house fell on the lords and all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he killed in his life.
  1. 그러는 동안 삼손은 자기 손을 붙잡고 인도해 주는 젊은이에게 부탁하였다. "이 신전을 버틴 기둥을 만질 수 있게 나를 데려다 다오. 좀 기대야겠다."
  2. 신전은 남자와 여자로 들끓고 있었다. 추장들이 다 모여 있었고 삼천 명 가량 되는 남녀가 옥상에서 놀림감이 되어 있는 삼손을 보고 있는데
  3. 삼손이 야훼께 부르짖었다. "주 야훼여, 한 번만 더 저를 기억해 주시고 힘을 주시어 제 두 눈을 뽑은 불레셋 사람들에게 단번에 복수하게 해주십시오."
  4. 그리고 나서 삼손은 그 신전을 버틴 기둥 하나에는 왼손을 대고 다른 하나에는 오른손을 대고
  5. 부르짖었다. "불레셋 놈들과 함께 죽게 해주십시오." 그리고 있는 힘을 다해서 밀자, 그 신전은 무너져 거기에 있던 추장들과 사람이 모두 깔려 죽었다. 삼손이 죽으면서 죽인 사람이 살아서 죽인 사람보다도 더 많았다.
  1. Then his brothers and all his father's household came down, took him, brought him up and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoah his father. Thus he had judged Israel twenty years.
  1. 그의 일가 친척이 모두 내려와서 삼손의 시체를 거두어다가 소라와 에스다올 사이에 있는 그의 아버지 마노아의 무덤에 장사지냈다. 그는 이십 년 동안 이스라엘의 판관으로 있었다.
