사무엘하

  본서는 다윗의 통치를 통해 하나님을 대리하여 통치하는 신정 국가의 이상을 보여 주고 있다. 다윗이 하나님의 뜻을 따라 성실과 공의로 다스리는 모습을 기록함으로써 장차 왕으로 오실 그리스도의 통치를 보여 주고 있다. 아울러 다윗의 성공과 실패를 통하여 인생에 있어서의 성공의 관건은 하나님에 대한 신앙 유지에 있음을 가르쳐 준다.

  사울이 죽은 후 왕위에 등극한 다윗은 왕국의 기틀을 공고히 하기 위한 제반 조치와 함께 성공적인 정복 전쟁을 통해 영토를 애굽에서 유브라데까지 확장시킨다. 또한 다윗은 밧세바 사건으로 말미암아 갖가지 재난을 겪고, 여러 가지 사건들을 하나님의 은혜로 극복한다.

 

 

사무엘하 1:1-2:32

 사울과 요나단의 죽음을 전해 들은 다윗은 그들을 추모하는 애가를 지어 불렀다. 유다 지파의 왕으로 등극한 다윗은 사울을 장사한 야베스 사람들을 축복했다. 사울의 군장 아브넬이 사울의 아들 이스보셋을 왕으로 세움으로써 다윗의 집과 사울의 집 사이의 싸움은 계속되었다. 다윗의 군장 요압은 기브온 전투에서 아브넬에게 승리를 거두었으나 동생 아사헬을 잃었다.
  
  사울과 요나단의 죽음을 애도하는 다윗(1:1-1:27)    
 
  1. Now it came about after the death of Saul, when David had returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, that David remained two days in Ziklag.
  2. On the third day, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul, with his clothes torn and dust on his head And it came about when he came to David that he fell to the ground and prostrated himself.
  3. Then David said to him, "From where do you come?" And he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel."
  4. David said to him, "How did things go? Please tell me." And he said, "The people have fled from the battle, and also many of the people have fallen and are dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also."
  5. So David said to the young man who told him, "How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?"
  1. 사울이 죽은 뒤였다. 다윗이 아말렉 군을 쳐부수고 시글락에 돌아와서 이틀을 묵고,
  2. 사흘째 되던 날, 사울 진영의 한 사람이, 옷이 찢기고, 머리는 흙투성이가 된 채 찾아왔다. 그가 다윗 앞에 나아가 땅에 엎드려 절을 하자,
  3. 다윗이 물었다. "너는 어디에서 온 사람이냐?" "저는 이스라엘 진영에서 가까스로 살아 남아 온 자입니다." 하고 그가 대답하자
  4. 다윗은 일이 어떻게 되었는지 어서 말하라고 다그쳤다. "이스라엘 군은 싸움터에서 많은 전사자를 내고 다 도망쳤습니다. 사울과 요나단 부자도 전사했습니다." 하고 그가 대답하였다.
  5. 이 말을 듣고, 다윗은 소식을 전해 준 그 젊은이에게 사울과 요나단 부자가 전사한 사실을 어떻게 알았느냐고 물었다.
  1. The young man who told him said, "By chance I happened to be on Mount Gilboa, and behold, Saul was leaning on his spear. And behold, the chariots and the horsemen pursued him closely.
  2. "When he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me. And I said, 'Here I am.'
  3. "He said to me, 'Who are you?' And I answered him, 'I am an Amalekite.'
  4. "Then he said to me, 'Please stand beside me and kill me, for agony has seized me because my life still lingers in me.'
  5. "So I stood beside him and killed him, because I knew that he could not live after he had fallen And I took the crown which was on his head and the bracelet which was on his arm, and I have brought them here to my lord."
  1. 젊은이는 이렇게 대답하였다. "저는 길보아 산에 올라갔다가 사울이 창으로 몸을 버티고 있는 것을 보았는데, 적의 병거와 기병대가 뒤쫓고 있었습니다.
  2. 사울은 뒤돌아보고 제가 있는 것을 알고는 저를 불렀습니다. 제가 왜 그러시느냐고 대답했더니,
  3. 저더러 누구냐고 물으셨습니다. 제가 아말렉 사람이라고 대답하자
  4. 저더러 어서 와서 죽여달라고 하셨습니다. 목숨만 붙어 있을 뿐 더 이상 버틸 수가 없다는 것이었습니다.
  5. 제가 보기에도 다시 일어나 사실 것 같지 않아 다가가서 그의 목숨을 끊어드렸습니다. 그리고 머리에 썼던 왕관과 팔에 끼었던 팔찌를 벗겨서 이렇게 가지고 왔습니다."
  1. Then David took hold of his clothes and tore them, and so also did all the men who were with him.
  2. They mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and his son Jonathan and for the people of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.
  3. David said to the young man who told him, "Where are you from?" And he answered, "I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite."
  4. Then David said to him, "How is it you were not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed?"
  5. And David called one of the young men and said, "Go, cut him down." So he struck him and he died.
  1. 이 말을 듣고 다윗은 자기 옷을 잡아 찢었다. 부하들도 자기들의 옷을 잡아 찢었다.
  2. 그리고 사울과 그의 아들 요나단, 야훼의 백성, 이스라엘 가문이 칼에 맞아 쓰러진 것을 슬퍼하여 해 질 때까지 통곡하며 단식하였다.
  3. 그리고 나서 다윗은 소식을 전해 준 젊은이에게 "너는 어디 사람이냐?" 하고 물었다. 그가 이스라엘에 몸붙여 사는 아말렉 이세라고 대답하자,
  4. 다윗은 "네놈이 어쩌자고 겁도 없이 손을 대어 야훼께서 기름 부어 세우신 이를 살해했단 말이냐?" 하고 꾸짖고 나서
  5. 부하 한 사람을 불렀다. "저놈을 쳐죽여라." 하고 다윗이 명령하자 부하가 그를 쳐죽였다.
  1. David said to him, "Your blood is on your head, for your mouth has testified against you, saying, 'I have killed the LORD'S anointed.'"
  2. Then David chanted with this lament over Saul and Jonathan his son,
  3. and he told them to teach the sons of Judah the song of the bow; behold, it is written in the book of Jashar.
  4. "Your beauty, O Israel, is slain on your high places! How have the mighty fallen!
  5. "Tell it not in Gath, Proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon, Or the daughters of the Philistines will rejoice, The daughters of the uncircumcised will exult.
  1. 다윗은 그를 두고 이렇게 선언하였다. "너는 네 입으로 야훼께서 기름 부어 세우신 이를 죽였다고 증언했다. 그러니 네가 죽는 것은 네 탓이다."
  2. 다윗은 사울과 그의 아들 요나단의 죽음을 슬퍼하여 조가를 지어
  3. 유다 사람들에게 가르치게 하였다. 이 노래는 야살서에 기록되어 있다.
  4. 너 이스라엘의 영광이 산 위에서 죽었구나. 아, 용사들은 쓰러졌구나.

  1. "O mountains of Gilboa, Let not dew or rain be on you, nor fields of offerings; For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.
  2. "From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, The bow of Jonathan did not turn back, And the sword of Saul did not return empty.
  3. "Saul and Jonathan, beloved and pleasant in their life, And in their death they were not parted; They were swifter than eagles, They were stronger than lions.
  4. "O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, Who clothed you luxuriously in scarlet, Who put ornaments of gold on your apparel.
  5. "How have the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! Jonathan is slain on your high places.
  1. 길보아 산악에는 비도 이슬도 내리지 아니하고, 소나기도 쏟아지지 아니하리라. 거기서 용사들의 방패는 더러워졌고, 사울의 방패는 기름칠도 않은 채 버려졌구나.
  2. 요나단이 한번 활을 쏘면 사람들은 피를 쏟으며 쓰러졌고, 그 살에는 적군 용사들의 기름기가 묻고야 말았는데. 사울이 한번 칼을 휘두르면 사람들은 피를 쏟으며 쓰러졌고, 그 칼에는 적군 용사들의 기름기가 묻고야 말았는데.
  3. 사울과 요나단은 살았을 때 그렇게도 정이 두텁더니, 죽을 때도 갈라지지 않았구나. 독수리보다도 날쌔고, 사자보다도 힘이 세더니.
  4. 이스라엘의 딸들아, 주홍색 옷을 입혀주고 그 옷에 금장식을 달아주던 사울을 생각하고 통곡하여라.
  5. 아, 용사들이 싸움터에 쓰러졌구나. 요나단이 산 위에서 죽었구나.
  1. "I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was more wonderful Than the love of women.
  2. "How have the mighty fallen, And the weapons of war perished!"
  1. 나의 형, 요나단, 형 생각에 나는 가슴이 미어지오. 형은 나를 즐겁게 해주더니. 형의 그 남다른 사랑, 어느 여인의 사랑도 따를 수 없었는데.
  2. 아, 용사들은 쓰러지고, 무기는 사라졌구나.
 
  유다 왕이 된 다윗(2:1-2:32)    
 
  1. Then it came about afterwards that David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go up to one of the cities of Judah?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up " So David said, "Where shall I go up?" And He said, "To Hebron."
  2. So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite.
  3. And David brought up his men who were with him, each with his household; and they lived in the cities of Hebron.
  4. Then the men of Judah came and there anointed David king over the house of Judah And they told David, saying, "It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul."
  5. David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, "May you be blessed of the LORD because you have shown this kindness to Saul your lord, and have buried him.
  1. 이런 일이 있은 뒤, 다윗이 야훼께 여쭈었다. "유다 지방에 올라가 어느 성읍에 자리를 잡아도 되겠습니까?" 야훼께서 올라가라고 하시자 다윗이 다시 여쭈었다. "어디로 올라가면 좋겠습니까?" "헤브론으로 올라가거라."
  2. 이 말씀을 듣고 다윗은 이즈르엘 여자 아히노암과 가르멜 사람 나발의 아내였던 아비가일, 두 아내를 데리고 헤브론으로 갔다.
  3. 다윗은 부하들의 가족까지도 모두 데리고 올라가 헤브론에 있는 여러 성에 흩어져 살게 하였다.
  4. 이 때, 유다 사람들이 그리로 찾아와 다윗에게 기름을 붓고 그를 유다 왕으로 삼았다. 다윗은 야베스 길르앗 사람들이 사울의 장례를 치렀다는 말을 듣고
  5. 야베스 길르앗 주민들에게 전갈을 보냈다. "그대들이 상전 사울의 장례를 치러 충성을 보였으니 야훼께서 복을 내리시기를 바라오.
  1. "Now may the LORD show lovingkindness and truth to you; and I also will show this goodness to you, because you have done this thing.
  2. "Now therefore, let your hands be strong and be valiant; for Saul your lord is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them."
  3. But Abner the son of Ner, commander of Saul's army, had taken Ish-bosheth the son of Saul and brought him over to Mahanaim.
  4. He made him king over Gilead, over the Ashurites, over Jezreel, over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, even over all Israel.
  5. Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, was forty years old when he became king over Israel, and he was king for two years. The house of Judah, however, followed David.
  1. 이제 야훼께서는 그대들에게 틀림없이 은덕을 베푸실 것이오. 그대들이 이런 일을 했으니, 나도 그대들에게 잘해 주겠소.
  2. 그대들의 상전 사울은 세상을 떠났고, 유다 가문은 나에게 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼았소. 그러니 낙심말고 힘들을 내시오."
  3. 한편, 넬의 아들 아브넬은 사울의 사령관이었는데, 그는 사울의 아들 이스보셋을 모시고 마하나임으로 건너가서
  4. 길르앗, 아술, 이즈르엘, 에브라임, 베냐민 등, 온 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼았다.
  5. 사울의 아들 이스보셋은 이스라엘 왕위에 오를 때 사십 세였다. 그는 이 년밖에 왕노릇 하지 못하였다. 한편, 유다 가문은 다윗을 따랐는데,
  1. The time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
  2. Now Abner the son of Ner, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon with the servants of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul.
  3. And Joab the son of Zeruiah and the servants of David went out and met them by the pool of Gibeon; and they sat down, one on the one side of the pool and the other on the other side of the pool.
  4. Then Abner said to Joab, "Now let the young men arise and hold a contest before us." And Joab said, "Let them arise."
  5. So they arose and went over by count, twelve for Benjamin and Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
  1. 그는 헤브론에서 칠 년 반 동안 유다 가문의 왕노릇을 했다.
  2. 어느 날, 넬의 아들 아브넬이 사울의 아들 이스보셋의 부하들을 거느리고 마하나임에서 기브온으로 왔다.

  4. 아브넬이 요압에게 말을 건넸다. "젊은 군인들을 뽑아 이 자리에서 겨루게 하면 어떤가?" 요압도 그렇게 하자고 응했다.
  5. 이윽고 사울의 아들 이스보셋 편인 베냐민 가문에서 열두 사람, 다윗의 부하 가운데서 열두 사람이 나섰다.
  1. Each one of them seized his opponent by the head and thrust his sword in his opponent's side; so they fell down together. Therefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
  2. That day the battle was very severe, and Abner and the men of Israel were beaten before the servants of David.
  3. Now the three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab and Abishai and Asahel; and Asahel was as swift-footed as one of the gazelles which is in the field.
  4. Asahel pursued Abner and did not turn to the right or to the left from following Abner.
  5. Then Abner looked behind him and said, "Is that you, Asahel?" And he answered, "It is I."
  1. 그들은 서로 상대방의 머리를 그러쥐고 칼로 옆구리를 찔러 양편이 모두 쓰러져 죽었다. 그래서 기브온에 있는 그 곳을 "옆구리 벌판"이라고 부르게 되었다.

  5. 아브넬이 뒤를 돌아보며 "아사헬, 너였구나." 하고 말했다. "그렇다." 아사헬이 말을 받자,
  1. So Abner said to him, "Turn to your right or to your left, and take hold of one of the young men for yourself, and take for yourself his spoil." But Asahel was not willing to turn aside from following him.
  2. Abner repeated again to Asahel, "Turn aside from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then could I lift up my face to your brother Joab?"
  3. However, he refused to turn aside; therefore Abner struck him in the belly with the butt end of the spear, so that the spear came out at his back. And he fell there and died on the spot. And it came about that all who came to the place where Asahel had fallen and died, stood still.
  4. But Joab and Abishai pursued Abner, and when the sun was going down, they came to the hill of Ammah, which is in front of Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
  5. The sons of Benjamin gathered together behind Abner and became one band, and they stood on the top of a certain hill.
  1. 아브넬이 "네 좌우에 있는 젊은 놈이나 하나 잡아서 갑옷이라도 빼앗아라." 하고 말했다. 그래도 아사헬이 들은 체도 않고 따라붙자,
  2. 아브넬이 타일렀다. "내 뒤는 그만 쫓고 물러가라! 너를 쳐서 쓰러뜨리고 싶지는 않다. 그렇게 되면 네 형 요압을 볼 낯이 없지 않겠느냐?"
  3. 그래도 아사헬이 물러서려고 하지 않자 아브넬은 창 끝으로 아사헬의 배를 찔렀다. 창이 아사헬의 등을 뚫고 나가 그는 그 자리에 쓰러져 죽고 말았다. 다른 사람들도 아사헬이 쓰러져 죽은 곳까지 와서는 더 나아가지 못하고 그 자리에 멈추어 섰다. 그러나
  4. 요압과 아비새만은 아브넬을 계속 쫓았다. 그들이 기브온 사막으로 가는 길가에 있는 기아 맞은편 암마 언덕에 다다랐을 때 날이 저물었다.
  5. 한편, 아브넬을 따라온 베냐민 사람들은 언덕 위에서 그를 둘러싸고 한데 뭉쳐서 버티었다.
  1. Then Abner called to Joab and said, "Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that it will be bitter in the end? How long will you refrain from telling the people to turn back from following their brothers?"
  2. Joab said, "As God lives, if you had not spoken, surely then the people would have gone away in the morning, each from following his brother."
  3. So Joab blew the trumpet; and all the people halted and pursued Israel no longer, nor did they continue to fight anymore.
  4. Abner and his men then went through the Arabah all that night; so they crossed the Jordan, walked all morning, and came to Mahanaim.
  5. Then Joab returned from following Abner; when he had gathered all the people together, nineteen of David's servants besides Asahel were missing.
  1. 아브넬이 요압 쪽에 대고 소리쳤다. "언제까지 피를 보아야 하겠느냐? 이러다가는 마침내 끔찍한 일이 일어날 줄을 모르느냐? 너는 군사들에게 동족을 그만 추격하고 돌아가라는 명령을 끝내 내리지 않을 셈이냐?"
  2. "네가 그런 말을 하지 않았더라면, 너희가 아무리 동족이라 해도 우리 군사들이 내일 아침까지는 천하 없어도 너를 따라잡았을 것이다."
  3. 이렇게 말하고 나서 요압은 나팔을 불어 추격을 멈추고, 더 이상 이스라엘 군을 쫓아가며 치지 않았다.
  4. 아브넬은 부하들을 이끌고 밤을 새우며 아라바를 지나 요르단 강을 건너고 아침 나절에도 내내 걸어서 가까스로 마하나임에 다다랐다.
  5. 요압이 아브넬 추격을 그만두고 돌아와서 군사들을 모아보니 아사헬과 다윗의 신하 열아홉이 없어졌다.
  1. But the servants of David had struck down many of Benjamin and Abner's men, so that three hundred and sixty men died.
  2. And they took up Asahel and buried him in his father's tomb which was in Bethlehem. Then Joab and his men went all night until the day dawned at Hebron.
  1. 다윗의 부하들 손에 죽은 아브넬 수하 베냐민 군은 삼백육십 명이나 되었다.
  2. 군사들은 아사헬을 베들레헴에 있는 조상의 무덤에 안장하였다. 요압은 부하들을 거느리고 밤새 걸어서 동 틀 무렵에 헤브론에 다다랐다.
