- Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
- and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
- As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;
- and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
- And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

- 한편 사울은 여전히 살기를 띠고 주의 제자들을 위협하며 대사제에게 가서
- 다마스쿠스에 있는 여러 회당에 보내는 공문을 청하였다. 그렇게 해서 그리스도교를 믿는 사람은 남자 여자 할 것 없이 눈에 띄는 대로 잡아서 예루살렘으로 끌어올 수 있는 권한을 받았다.
- 사울이 길을 떠나 다마스쿠스 가까이에 이르렀을 때에 갑자기 하늘에서 빛이 번쩍이며 그의 둘레를 환히 비추었다.
- 그가 땅에 엎드러지자 "사울아, 사울아, 네가 왜 나를 박해하느냐?" 하는 음성이 들려왔다.
- 사울이 "당신은 누구십니까?" 하고 물으니 "나는 네가 박해하는 예수다.

- but get up and enter the city, and it will be told you what you must do."
- The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.
- Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.
- And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
- Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord."

- 일어나서 시내로 들어가거라. 그러면 네가 해야 할 일을 일러줄 사람이 있을 것이다." 하는 대답이 들려왔다.
- 사울과 동행하던 사람들도 그 음성은 들었지만 아무것도 보이지 않아 벙벙해서 서 있기만 하였다.
- 사울은 땅에서 일어나 눈을 떴으나 앞이 보이지 않았다. 그래서 사람들이 그의 손을 끌고 다마스쿠스로 데리고 갔다.
- 사울은 사흘 동안 앞을 못 보고 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않았다.
- 다마스쿠스에 아나니아라는 제자 한 사람이 살고 있었는데 주께서 신비로운 영상 가운데 나타나 "아나니아야!" 하고 부르셨다. 아나니아가 "예, 주님, 말씀하십시오." 하고 대답하자

- And the Lord said to him, "Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying,
- and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight."
- But Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem;
- and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name."
- But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel;

- 주께서는 "어서 일어나 '곧은 거리'라는 동네에 사는 유다의 집으로 가서 다르소 사람 사울을 찾아라. 사울은 지금 기도를 하고 있는데
- 그는 아나니아라는 사람이 들어와서 손을 얹어 다시 눈을 뜨게 해주는 것을 신비로운 영상으로 보았다." 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 이 말씀을 듣고 아나니아가 "주님, 그 사람에 대해서는 여러 사람에게서 들은 바 있습니다. 그는 예루살렘에 사는 주님의 성도들에게 많은 해를 끼쳤다고 합니다.
- 더구나 그는 대사제에게서 주님을 믿는 사람들을 잡아갈 권한을 받아가지고 여기 와 있습니다." 하고 대답하였다.
- 주께서는 그에게 다시 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "그래도 가야 한다. 그 사람은 내가 뽑은 인재로서 내 이름을 이방인들과 제왕들과 이스라엘 백성들에게 널리 전파할 사람이다.

- for I will show him how much he must suffer for My name's sake."
- So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
- And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized;
- and he took food and was strengthened. Now for several days he was with the disciples who were at Damascus,
- and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying, "He is the Son of God."

- 나는 그가 내 이름 때문에 얼마나 많은 고난을 받아야 할지 그에게 보여주겠다."
- 그래서 아나니아는 곧 그 집을 찾아가서 사울에게 손을 얹고 이렇게 말하였다. "사울 형제, 나는 주님의 심부름으로 왔습니다. 그분은 당신이 여기 오는 길에 나타나셨던 예수님이십니다. 그분이 나를 보내시며 당신의 눈을 뜨게 하고 성령을 가득히 받게 하라고 분부하셨습니다."
- 그러자 곧 사울의 눈에서 비늘 같은 것이 떨어지면서 다시 보게 되었다. 그는 그 자리에서 일어나 세례를 받은 다음,
- 음식을 먹고 기운을 회복하였다.
- 곧 여러 회당에서 예수가 바로 하느님의 아들이심을 전파하기 시작하였다.

- All those hearing him continued to be amazed, and were saying, "Is this not he who in Jerusalem destroyed those who called on this name, and who had come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?"
- But Saul kept increasing in strength and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this Jesus is the Christ.
- When many days had elapsed, the Jews plotted together to do away with him,
- but their plot became known to Saul They were also watching the gates day and night so that they might put him to death;
- but his disciples took him by night and let him down through an opening in the wall, lowering him in a large basket.

- 그 말을 들은 사람들은 모두 어리둥절하여 "저 사람은 예루살렘에서 예수를 믿는 사람들을 못 살게 굴던 자로서 신도들을 잡아서 대사제들에게 끌어가려고 여기 온 자가 아닌가?" 하고 말하였다.
- 그러나 사울은 더욱 힘있게 전도하며 예수가 그리스도라는 것을 증언하므로 다마스쿠스에 있는 유다인들은 모두 당황하게 되었다.
- 그 뒤 여러 날이 지나서 유다인들은 사울을 죽일 의논을 하였고
- 사울도 그들의 음모를 알게 되었다. 그들은 사울을 죽이려고 밤낮으로 사방의 성문을 지키고 있었다.
- 그래서 그의 제자들이 어느 날 밤에 틈을 타서 사울을 광주리에 담아 성밖으로 달아 내렸다.

- When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
- But Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus.
- And he was with them, moving about freely in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord.
- And he was talking and arguing with the Hellenistic Jews; but they were attempting to put him to death.
- But when the brethren learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him away to Tarsus.

- 그 뒤 사울은 예루살렘으로 올라가 신도들의 모임에 끼여보려고 하였으나 그들은 사울이 개종한 것을 믿으려 하지 않고 모두 무서워하였다.
- 그 때 바르나바가 사울을 데리고 사도들에게 가서 사울이 다마스쿠스로 가는 길에 주님을 뵙고 주님의 음성을 들은 일과 또 다마스쿠스에서 예수의 이름으로 대담하게 전도한 일들을 낱낱이 설명해 주었다.
- 그 때부터 사울은 예루살렘에서 제자들과 함께 지내며 자유로이 돌아다니면서 주님의 이름으로 대담하게 전도하며
- 그리스 말을 하는 유다인들과 이야기도 하고 토론도 하였다. 그러나 그들은 사울을 죽이려고 하였다.
- 이것을 안 교우들은 사울을 가이사리아로 데리고 내려가 거기에서 다시 다르소로 보냈다.

- So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase.

- 그러는 동안 유다와 갈릴래아와 사마리아 온 지방에 들어선 교회는 안정이 되어 터전을 튼튼히 잡았고 주를 두려워하며 성령의 격려를 받아 그 수효가 차츰 늘어났다.
