나훔

  본서는 앗수르가 멸망한 직후인 주전 612년경에 기록된 것으로, 앗수르의 앗술바니팔 시대부터 니느웨가 함락될 때까지의 일들을 기록하고 있다. 역사적으로 이 때는 북이스라엘이 멸망한 지 약 100년이 되었을 때였으며, 강대국 앗수르가 쇠퇴하고 신흥 바벨론이 새로운 강대국으로 부상하고 있었다. 당시 앗수르의 수도 니느웨는 70여 년 전 요나의 메시지를 통해 회개하고 구원받았던 하나님의 은혜를 망각하고 불의와 악을 행하였다. 이러한 때에 선지자로 부름받은 나훔은 앗수르의 수도 니느웨의 멸망을 예언하면서 하나님의 백성에게 위로의 메시지를 전하였다.

  본서는 불의한 니느웨 성의 멸망을 예언함으로써 불의와 죄악을 결코 간과하시지 않으시는 하나님의 공의를 부각시키고 있다. 반면에 유다의 회복에 대한 예언을 통해 당신의 백성을 끝까지 버리지 않으시는 하나님의 사랑과 신실하심도 보여 주고 있다

 

 

나훔 1:1-3:19

 나훔은 죄악이 가득한 니느웨가 하나님의 심판을 받아 멸망할 것이라고 선포하였다. 그는 니느웨가 적의 침략을 받아 멸망할 것이라고 예언하면서, 멸망 이후 황폐된 니느웨의 모습을 상세히 묘사하였다. 나훔은 니느웨의 여러 죄악을 지적하고 니느웨에 대한 하나님의 심판은 피할 수 없는 것임을 말하였다.
  
  니느웨 멸망(1:1-3:19)    
 
  1. The oracle of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
  2. A jealous and avenging God is the LORD; The LORD is avenging and wrathful The LORD takes vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies.
  3. The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
  4. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; He dries up all the rivers Bashan and Carmel wither; The blossoms of Lebanon wither.
  5. Mountains quake because of Him And the hills dissolve; Indeed the earth is upheaved by His presence, The world and all the inhabitants in it.
  1. 엘코스 사람 나훔이 니느웨가 받을 벌을 내다보고 적은 책.
  2. (ㄱ)야훼, 극성스레 원수를 갚으시는 하느님, 성급하게 원수를 갚으시는 신이시다. (ㄴ)야훼께서는 원수를 갚고야 마신다. 적에게 분풀이를 하고야 마신다.
  3. 야훼께서 힘이 없어 오래 참으시는 줄 아느냐. 결코 죄지은 자를 벌하지 않은 채 버려두지는 않으신다. 발길로 구름을 먼지처럼 일으키시며 태풍 속, 폭풍 속을 뚫고 오신다.
  4. 그가 한번 호령하시면, 강은 마르고 바다는 그 바닥이 드러난다. 바산에서도 가르멜에서도 풀이 시들고 레바논 산에서는 꽃이 이운다.
  5. 그를 보고서 멧부리들은 떨고 언덕들은 비틀거린다. 그의 앞에서 땅은 황무지가 되고 세상과 그 안에서 숨쉬는 모든 것이 꺼진다.
  1. Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the burning of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire And the rocks are broken up by Him.
  2. The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who take refuge in Him.
  3. But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, And will pursue His enemies into darkness.
  4. Whatever you devise against the LORD, He will make a complete end of it. Distress will not rise up twice.
  5. Like tangled thorns, And like those who are drunken with their drink, They are consumed As stubble completely withered.
  1. 주께서 진노하시면 누가 당하랴. 주께서 분노를 터뜨리시면 누가 맞서랴. 주의 진노가 불같이 일면, 바위도 깨진다.
  2. 야훼께서는 당신을 바라는 사람이 곤경에 빠졌을 때, 잘 보살펴 주시고 당신께 몸을 숨기는 사람이 물결에 휩쓸렸을 때, 돌보아주시지만, 당신께 맞서는 자는 없애버리신다. 당신을 대적하는 자는 빛 없는 곳으로 몰아내신다.
  4. 원수들아, 너희는 야훼께 무슨 음모를 꾸미느냐? 야훼께서는 당신의 적들이 두 번 다시 일어나지 못하게 끝장을 보는 분이시다.
  5. 가시덤불처럼 태워버리시고 검불처럼 살라버리신다.
  1. From you has gone forth One who plotted evil against the LORD, A wicked counselor.
  2. Thus says the LORD, "Though they are at full strength and likewise many, Even so, they will be cut off and pass away Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no longer.
  3. "So now, I will break his yoke bar from upon you, And I will tear off your shackles."
  4. The LORD has issued a command concerning you: "Your name will no longer be perpetuated I will cut off idol and image From the house of your gods I will prepare your grave, For you are contemptible."
  5. Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace! Celebrate your feasts, O Judah; Pay your vows For never again will the wicked one pass through you; He is cut off completely.
  1. 야훼께 음모를 꾸미는 자, 발칙한 일을 꾸미는 자가 너에게서 나왔구나.
  2. 이것은 야훼의 말씀이시다. "유다야, 적의 병력이 아무리 많고 강하여도 내가 낫질하듯 없애버리리라. 이제까지 나는 너를 너무 괴롭혔다. 이제 다시는 너희를 괴롭히지 아니하리라.
  3. 나 이제 너를 억누르던 적의 멍에를 부러뜨리고 너를 묶은 사슬을 끊어주리라.
  4. 나 야훼가 너 니느웨에 판결을 내린다. 너의 이름을 이을 자손을 내가 남기지 아니하리라. 새겨 만든 신상, 부어 만든 우상을 너희 신당에서 찍어버리고, 너의 욕된 무덤을 파헤치리라."
 
 
  1. The one who scatters has come up against you. Man the fortress, watch the road; Strengthen your back, summon all your strength.
  2. For the LORD will restore the splendor of Jacob Like the splendor of Israel, Even though devastators have devastated them And destroyed their vine branches.
  3. The shields of his mighty men are colored red, The warriors are dressed in scarlet, The chariots are enveloped in flashing steel When he is prepared to march, And the cypress spears are brandished.
  4. The chariots race madly in the streets, They rush wildly in the squares, Their appearance is like torches, They dash to and fro like lightning flashes.
  5. He remembers his nobles; They stumble in their march, They hurry to her wall, And the mantelet is set up.
  1. 희소식을 전하는 발길이 산을 넘고 넘어 달려온다. 광복의 소식을 안고 온다. 유다야, 축제를 마련하여라. 서원제물을 바쳐라. 그 못된 자들은 모두 없어졌다. 다시는 너희 가운데 얼씬도 못하리라.
  2. 침략자가 너를 치러 올라온다. 파수꾼아, 성루에 올라가 눈에 불을 켜고 길을 지켜보려무나. 허리를 질끈 동이고 젖먹던 힘까지 다 내어 싸워보려무나.
  3. 야곱의 포도덩굴, 그 이스라엘의 자랑을 적들은 짓밟고 털어갔었다. 그러나 야훼께서 그 포도원을 다시 일으키시리라.
  4. 적의 억센 용사들이 자주 갑옷을 입고, 붉은 방패를 들고 마구 쳐들어오는데 기마들은 미친 듯이 날뛰고
  5. 병거의 바퀴는 불이 나게 돌며, 거리를 누비는구나. 횃불처럼 번개처럼 이리 번쩍 저리 번쩍 광장을 치달린다.
  1. The gates of the rivers are opened And the palace is dissolved.
  2. It is fixed: She is stripped, she is carried away, And her handmaids are moaning like the sound of doves, Beating on their breasts.
  3. Though Nineveh was like a pool of water throughout her days, Now they are fleeing; "Stop, stop," But no one turns back.
  4. Plunder the silver! Plunder the gold! For there is no limit to the treasure-- Wealth from every kind of desirable object.
  5. She is emptied! Yes, she is desolate and waste! Hearts are melting and knees knocking! Also anguish is in the whole body And all their faces are grown pale!
  1. 정예부대를 앞세워 거꾸러지면서 돌격한다. 벼락같이 성벽에 들이닥쳐 화살막이를 벌여놓는다.
  2. 마침내 강을 낀 성문들이 열리니 대궐은 수라장이요,
  3. 여신상을 들어내어 포로처럼 끌어가는데 시녀들은 가슴을 치며 비둘기처럼 구슬피 흐느끼는구나.
  4. 니느웨는 물이 빠지고 있는 웅덩이 같아, "멈추어라, 멈추어라." 하고 소리치나 아무도 뒤를 돌아보지 않는다.
  5. "은을 털어가자, 금을 털어가자, 없는 것 없이 잘도 해놓고 살았구나. 값진 세간들 잘도 차려놓고 살았구나." 하며
  1. Where is the den of the lions And the feeding place of the young lions, Where the lion, lioness and lion's cub prowled, With nothing to disturb them?
  2. The lion tore enough for his cubs, Killed enough for his lionesses, And filled his lairs with prey And his dens with torn flesh.
  3. "Behold, I am against you," declares the LORD of hosts "I will burn up her chariots in smoke, a sword will devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the land, and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard."
  1. 참으로 잘들 털어간다. 모조리 잘들 쓸어간다. 이런 꼴을 당하고 어찌 가슴이 떨리지 아니하며, 다리가 후들거리지 않으랴? 허리는 온통 끊어지는 것 같고 얼굴도 모두 파랗게 질렸구나.
  2. 사자굴은 어찌 되었느냐? 사자 새끼가 우글거리던 그 바위굴은 어찌 되었느냐? 수사자가 나가도 암컷과 새끼들이 겁도 없이 기다리더니,
  3. 수사자가 사냥해 온 것을 새끼들에게 주고 암사자에게 찢어주더니, 바위굴은 사냥해 온 고기로 그득하고 그 굴에는 늘 먹이가 차 있더니.
  4. "나 이제 너를 치리라." 만군의 야훼께서 하시는 말씀이시다. "네 병거를 연기가 되어 사라지게 하고 너의 백성을 칼로 쳐죽여 다시는 세상에서 약탈하지 못하게 하리니, 네 사절들이 떠드는 소리를 다시는 들을 수 없으리라.
 
 
  1. Woe to the bloody city, completely full of lies and pillage; Her prey never departs.
  2. The noise of the whip, The noise of the rattling of the wheel, Galloping horses And bounding chariots!
  3. Horsemen charging, Swords flashing, spears gleaming, Many slain, a mass of corpses, And countless dead bodies-- They stumble over the dead bodies!
  4. All because of the many harlotries of the harlot, The charming one, the mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations by her harlotries And families by her sorceries.
  5. "Behold, I am against you," declares the LORD of hosts; "And I will lift up your skirts over your face, And show to the nations your nakedness And to the kingdoms your disgrace.
  1. 피로 절은 이 저주받을 도시야, 협잡이나 해먹고 약탈을 일삼고 노략질을 그치지 않더니,
  2. 들리느냐? 저 채찍질 소리. 병거 바퀴 돌아가는 저 요란한 소리. 말은 소리치고 병거는 치닫는다.
  3. 칼과 창을 번개처럼 번쩍이며 기마병이 말 타고 달려든다. 다치는 사람은 수도 없고 주검은 너저분하게 널려 있다. 산더미처럼 쌓인 시체는 가는 곳마다 발에 차인다.
  4. 창녀처럼 예쁘게 꾸미고 마술사처럼 남을 홀리던 것아, 창녀처럼 꾀어 뭇 민족을 팔아먹던 것아, 마술을 부려 뭇 족속을 팔아먹던 것아,
  5. 나 이제 너를 치리라." 만군의 야훼께서 하시는 말씀이시다. "네 치마를 벗겨 그 알몸을 뭇 민족들 앞에 드러내 주리라. 뭇 나라에 네 부끄러움을 드러내 주리라.
  1. "I will throw filth on you And make you vile, And set you up as a spectacle.
  2. "And it will come about that all who see you Will shrink from you and say, 'Nineveh is devastated! Who will grieve for her?' Where will I seek comforters for you?"
  3. Are you better than No-amon, Which was situated by the waters of the Nile, With water surrounding her, Whose rampart was the sea, Whose wall consisted of the sea?
  4. Ethiopia was her might, And Egypt too, without limits Put and Lubim were among her helpers.
  5. Yet she became an exile, She went into captivity; Also her small children were dashed to pieces At the head of every street; They cast lots for her honorable men, And all her great men were bound with fetters.
  1. 네 몸에 똥물을 끼얹어 웃음거리를 만들리니, 너는 구경거리가 되어
  2. 보는 사람마다 너를 피해 가며 비웃으리라. '니느웨가 기어이 망했구나. 누가 가엾게 보아주랴. 위로해 줄 사람이 어디 있을까. 아무리 찾아도 보이지 않는구나!'
  3. 네가 데베스보다 낫단 말이냐? 나일 강 가에 자리잡은 데베스, 물이 두루 흘러 나일 강으로 앞을 막고 물로 성벽을 삼았던 도시,
  4. 게다가 에티오피아가 그의 힘이 되었고 이집트는 끝없이 뻗었었다. 그리고 푸트와 리비아 또한 그를 도왔다.
  5. 그러던 데베스의 시민들을 너는 사로잡아 갔었지. 끌어다가 종으로 부려먹었지. 어린것들은 거리 모퉁이에서 찢어죽이고, 유지들은 제비를 뽑아 끌어가고 귀인들은 모두 사슬로 묶어 끌고 갔었지.
  1. You too will become drunk, You will be hidden. You too will search for a refuge from the enemy.
  2. All your fortifications are fig trees with ripe fruit-- When shaken, they fall into the eater's mouth.
  3. Behold, your people are women in your midst! The gates of your land are opened wide to your enemies; Fire consumes your gate bars.
  4. Draw for yourself water for the siege! Strengthen your fortifications! Go into the clay and tread the mortar! Take hold of the brick mold!
  5. There fire will consume you, The sword will cut you down; It will consume you as the locust does. Multiply yourself like the creeping locust, Multiply yourself like the swarming locust.
  1. 그러던 네가 곤드레만드레 몸도 못 가누며 원수를 피해 살 구멍을 찾게 될 줄 누가 알았으랴.
  2. 너의 성채들은 하나하나 모두 떨어질 것이다. 흔들기만 하면 벌린 입에 떨어지는 잘 익은 무화과처럼.
  3. 원수들이 밀려드는데, 군인들은 아녀자 같고 전국의 성문은 모두 열리고 너의 성문 빗장은 불타버리리라.
  4. 이제 포위당할 터이니, 물이라도 길어두려무나. 진흙을 밟아 벽돌이라도 찍어 성채를 든든히 해두려무나.
  5. 모두 쓸데없는 일, 너는 불타버리고 사람들은 모두 칼에 맞아 죽으리라. 뛰는 메뚜기처럼 불어나려무나. 날아가는 메뚜기처럼 불어나려무나.
  1. You have increased your traders more than the stars of heaven-- The creeping locust strips and flies away.
  2. Your guardsmen are like the swarming locust Your marshals are like hordes of grasshoppers Settling in the stone walls on a cold day. The sun rises and they flee, And the place where they are is not known.
  3. Your shepherds are sleeping, O king of Assyria; Your nobles are lying down Your people are scattered on the mountains And there is no one to regather them.
  4. There is no relief for your breakdown, Your wound is incurable All who hear about you Will clap their hands over you, For on whom has not your evil passed continually?
  1. 하늘의 별처럼 많은 밀정을 풀어놓아 보려무나. 날아가는 메뚜기만큼 수비대를 세워보려무나. 누리떼만큼 관리들을 두어보려무나. 겨울날 담장에 총총히 붙었다가도 해만 뜨면 탈바꿈하고 멀리 날아가 버리는 메뚜기처럼 어디론가 사라지고 말리라.
  3. 오호라, 아시리아의 임금아, 네 목자들은 영영 잠들었구나. 네 용사들은 깰 수 없는 잠에 빠졌구나. 네 군대는 다시 모을 길 없이 이 산 저 산에서 흩어졌다. 어쩌다가 이 모양이 되었느냐?
  4. 네 상처는 나을 길이 없고 얻어터진 자리는 아물 길이 없다. 내내 너의 행패를 당하던 사람들이 네가 망했다는 소문을 듣고, 모두 손뼉을 치며 고소해하리라."
