사사기 15:1-16:31

 아내를 빼앗긴 삼손은 매우 분노하여 블레셋 사람의 농작물을 불태우고 나귀의 턱뼈로 일천 명을 죽였다. 그 후 삼손은 들릴라를 사랑하게 되었지만 그녀의 꾐에 빠져 자신의 힘의 비밀을 발설하였고, 결국 블레셋인들에게 잡혀 곤욕을 당했다. 블레셋 신전에서 조롱당하던 삼손은 하나님께 간구하여 신전 기둥을 무너뜨림으로써 많은 블레셋 사람들을 죽이고 자신도 최후를 맞았다.
  
  삼손의 보복(15:1-15:20)    
 
  1. But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a young goat, and said, "I will go in to my wife in her room." But her father did not let him enter.
  2. Her father said, "I really thought that you hated her intensely; so I gave her to your companion. Is not her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please let her be yours instead."
  3. Samson then said to them, "This time I shall be blameless in regard to the Philistines when I do them harm."
  4. Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned the foxes tail to tail and put one torch in the middle between two tails.
  5. When he had set fire to the torches, he released the foxes into the standing grain of the Philistines, thus burning up both the shocks and the standing grain, along with the vineyards and groves.
  1. 얼마 후 추수 때가 되었을 때 삼손은 염소 새끼 한 마리를 가지고 처가집으로 가서 장인에게 '내가 아내의 침실로 들어가겠습니다.' 하였으나 장인은 그를 들어오지 못하게 하며 이렇게 말하였다.
  2. '나는 정말 자네가 내 딸을 미워하는 줄로 알고 자네 친구에게 딸을 주고 말았네. 그러나 자네 처제가 더 아름답지 않은가? 대신 그 애와 결혼하게'
  3. 그러자 삼손은 화를 내며 '이번에는 내가 블레셋 사람들에게 무슨 짓을 해도 나에게 책임이 없습니다.' 하고 말하였다.
  4. 그리고서 그는 밖으로 나가 여우 300마리를 잡아 두 마리씩 서로 꼬리를 붙들어 매고 그 매듭에 홰를 단 다음
  5. 거기에 불을 붙여 블레셋 사람의 곡식 밭으로 여우를 내몰았다. 이렇게 해서 그는 이미 베어 놓은 곡식단과 아직 베지 않은 곡식과 그리고 감람원을 모조리 태워 버렸다.
  1. Then the Philistines said, "Who did this?" And they said, "Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion." So the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.
  2. Samson said to them, "Since you act like this, I will surely take revenge on you, but after that I will quit."
  3. He struck them ruthlessly with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Etam.
  4. Then the Philistines went up and camped in Judah, and spread out in Lehi.
  5. The men of Judah said, "Why have you come up against us?" And they said, "We have come up to bind Samson in order to do to him as he did to us."
  1. 그때 블레셋 사람들이 '누구 짓이냐?' 하고 묻자 어떤 사람이 '딤나 사람의 사위 삼손의 짓이오. 그의 장인이 삼손의 아내를 그의 친구에게 주었기 때문이오.' 하고 대답하였다. 그래서 블레셋 사람들은 올라가서 그 여자와 그녀의 아버지를 불에 태워 죽였다.
  2. 그래서 삼손은 그들에게 '너희가 이런 짓을 하였으니 내가 반드시 너희에게 원수를 갚고야 말겠다.' 하였다.
  3. 그리고서 그는 그들을 쳐서 수없이 죽이고 내려가서 에담 바위 동굴에 머물러 있었다.
  4. 그러자 블레셋 사람들이 올라와서 유다에 진을 치고 레히 일대를 점유하였다.
  5. 그때 유다 사람들이 '너희가 무엇때문에 와서 우리를 치려고 하느냐?' 하고 묻자 그들은 '삼손이 우리에게 행한 대로 갚아 주기 위해서 그를 잡으러 왔다' 하고 대답하였다.
  1. Then 3,000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam and said to Samson, "Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?" And he said to them, "As they did to me, so I have done to them."
  2. They said to him, "We have come down to bind you so that we may give you into the hands of the Philistines." And Samson said to them, "Swear to me that you will not kill me."
  3. So they said to him, "No, but we will bind you fast and give you into their hands; yet surely we will not kill you." Then they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.
  4. When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him mightily so that the ropes that were on his arms were as flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds dropped from his hands.
  5. He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, so he reached out and took it and killed a thousand men with it.
  1. 그래서 유다 사람 3,000명이 에담 바위 동굴로 내려가서 삼손을 꾸짖었다. '우리가 블레셋 사람의 지배를 받는 줄 네가 알지 못하느냐? 네가 어째서 이런 일을 저질렀느냐?' '그들이 나에게 한 대로 나도 그들에게 갚아 주었을 뿐이다'
  2. '우리가 너를 묶어 블레셋 사람의 손에 넘겨 주려고 왔다' '그렇다면 너희가 직접 나를 죽이지 않겠다고 맹세하여라'
  3. '좋다. 우리가 너를 묶어 그들의 손에 넘겨 주기만 하고 너를 직접 죽이지는 않겠다.' 그리고서 유다 사람들은 새 밧줄 두개로 그를 묶어 바위 동굴에서 끌어내었다.
  4. 삼손이 레히에 이르자 블레셋 사람들이 소리를 지르며 그를 향해 달려나왔다. 그때 여호와의 성령께서 그에게 강한 힘을 주시므로 그의 팔을 묶었던 밧줄이 불탄 새끼줄처럼 끊어져 그 손에서 떨어져 나갔다.
  5. 그래서 삼손은 당나귀 턱뼈 하나가 있는 것을 보고 그것을 집어 블레셋 사람 1,000명을 죽이고
  1. Then Samson said, "With the jawbone of a donkey, Heaps upon heaps, With the jawbone of a donkey I have killed a thousand men."
  2. When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone from his hand; and he named that place Ramath-lehi.
  3. Then he became very thirsty, and he called to the LORD and said, "You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant, and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?"
  4. But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi so that water came out of it. When he drank, his strength returned and he revived. Therefore he named it En-hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.
  5. So he judged Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines.
  1. 이렇게 노래하였다. '나귀 턱뼈 하나로 무더기에 무더기를 쌓았으니 내가 나귀 턱뼈 하나로 천 명을 죽였다네'
  2. 그리고서 삼손은 그 나귀 턱뼈를 집어 던지고 그 곳을 '라맛-레히'라고 불렀다.
  3. 그러나 그는 목이 너무 말라 여호와께 부르짖었다. '주께서는 나에게 이처럼 큰 승리를 주셨습니다. 그런데 이제 내가 목말라 죽어야 하며 이방 민족 블레셋 사람의 손에 붙잡혀야 하겠습니까?'
  4. 그때 하나님이 그 곳 레히에 있는 한 우묵한 곳을 터지게 하셨다. 그러자 샘물이 솟아 나와 삼손은 그 물을 마시고 원기를 다시 회복하였다. 그래서 그 샘을 '엔-학고레'라고 불렀는데 그것이 오늘날까지도 레히에 있다.
  5. 삼손은 블레셋 사람들이 통치하던 시대에 20년 동안 이스라엘의 사사로 지냈다.
 
  삼손의 죽음(16:1-16:31)    
 
  1. Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her.
  2. When it was told to the Gazites, saying, "Samson has come here," they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. And they kept silent all night, saying, "Let us wait until the morning light, then we will kill him."
  3. Now Samson lay until midnight, and at midnight he arose and took hold of the doors of the city gate and the two posts and pulled them up along with the bars; then he put them on his shoulders and carried them up to the top of the mountain which is opposite Hebron.
  4. After this it came about that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
  5. The lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, "Entice him, and see where his great strength lies and how we may overpower him that we may bind him to afflict him. Then we will each give you eleven hundred pieces of silver."
  1. 어느 날 삼손은 가사로 가서 그 곳의 어떤 창녀를 보고 그녀의 침실로 들어갔다.
  2. 가사 사람들은 삼손이 거기에 있다는 말을 듣고 그 곳을 포위하여 성문에서 밤새도록 숨어 기다렸다. 그들은 밤새도록 침묵을 지키며 '새벽까지 기다렸다가 죽여 버리자' 하고 속삭였다.
  3. 그러나 삼손은 자정까지 그곳에 누워 있다가 한밤중에 일어나 밖으로 나가서 그 성의 문짝과 두 기둥과 빗장을 뽑아 어깨에 메고 헤브론 앞의 산꼭대기로 올라갔다.
  4. 이런 일이 있은 후에 삼손은 소이 골짜기에 사는 들릴라라는 여자를 사랑하게 되었다.
  5. 그때 블레셋 다섯 지방의 통치자들이 그녀에게 가서 이렇게 말하였다. '너는 삼손을 꾀어 그가 지닌 큰 힘의 비결이 무엇이며 우리가 어떻게 하면 그를 눌러 묶고 복종시킬 수 있는지 알아 오너라. 그러면 우리가 각각 은화 1,100개씩 너에게 주겠다.'
  1. So Delilah said to Samson, "Please tell me where your great strength is and how you may be bound to afflict you."
  2. Samson said to her, "If they bind me with seven fresh cords that have not been dried, then I will become weak and be like any other man."
  3. Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven fresh cords that had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
  4. Now she had men lying in wait in an inner room. And she said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" But he snapped the cords as a string of tow snaps when it touches fire. So his strength was not discovered.
  5. Then Delilah said to Samson, "Behold, you have deceived me and told me lies; now please tell me how you may be bound."
  1. 그래서 들릴라는 삼손에게 간청하였다. '당신의 그 엄청난 힘이 어디서 나오며 어떻게 하면 당신을 묶어 꼼짝 못하게 할 수 있는지 좀 가르쳐 주세요'
  2. 그러자 삼손은 '마르지 않은 칡 일곱 가닥으로 나를 묶으면 내가 약해져서 다른 사람과 같이 될 것이오.' 하고 대답하였다.
  3. 그래서 블레셋 다섯 지방의 통치자들은 아직 마르지 않은 일곱 가닥의 푸른 칡 덩굴을 그 여자에게 갖다 주었고 그녀는 그 칡 덩굴로 잠들어 있는 삼손을 묶기 시작하였다.
  4. 이때 옆방에는 이미 몇 사람이 숨어 있었다. 그녀는 삼손을 꽁꽁 묶은 다음 '이봐요, 삼손! 블레셋 사람들이 왔어요!' 하고 외쳤다. 그러나 삼손은 그 일곱 가닥의 칡 덩굴을 불탄 새끼줄처럼 끊어 버렸다. 그래서 그들은 여전히 그 힘의 비결을 알지 못하였다.
  5. 그 후 들릴라가 삼손에게 말하였다. '이봐요, 당신이 저를 놀렸어요. 거짓말을 했단 말이예요. 어떻게 하면 당신을 꼼짝 못하게 묶을 수 있는지 제발 가르쳐 주세요'
  1. He said to her, "If they bind me tightly with new ropes which have not been used, then I will become weak and be like any other man."
  2. So Delilah took new ropes and bound him with them and said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" For the men were lying in wait in the inner room. But he snapped the ropes from his arms like a thread.
  3. Then Delilah said to Samson, "Up to now you have deceived me and told me lies; tell me how you may be bound." And he said to her, "If you weave the seven locks of my hair with the web [and fasten it with a pin, then I will become weak and be like any other man."
  4. So while he slept, Delilah took the seven locks of his hair and wove them into the web]. And she fastened it with the pin and said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" But he awoke from his sleep and pulled out the pin of the loom and the web.
  5. Then she said to him, "How can you say, 'I love you,' when your heart is not with me? You have deceived me these three times and have not told me where your great strength is."
  1. 그때 삼손은 '한 번도 사용한 적이 없는 새 밧줄로 나를 꽁꽁 묶으면 내가 약해져서 다른 사람과 같이 될 것이오.' 하고 대답하였다.
  2. 그래서 들릴라는 새 밧줄을 가지고 와서 삼손을 묶기 시작하였다. 이번에도 옆방에는 사람들이 숨어 있었다. 그녀는 삼손을 꽁꽁 묶은 다음 '이봐요, 삼손! 블레셋 사람들이 왔어요!'' 하고 외쳤다. 그러나 삼손은 자기 팔에 묶여진 새 밧줄을 실 끊듯이 끊어 버렸다.
  3. 들릴라는 다시 삼손에게 말하였다. '지금까지 당신은 나를 놀리고 나에게 거짓말을 했단 말이예요. 어떻게 하면 당신을 꼼짝 못하게 묶을 수 있는지 제발 좀 가르쳐 주세요' 그때 삼손은 '당신이 내 머리 일곱 가닥을 베틀 날실에 섞어 짠 다음 그것을 핀으로 단단하게 조이면 내가 약해져서 다른 사람과 같이 될 것이오.' 하고 대답하였다.
  4. 그래서 들릴라는 삼손이 잠든 사이에 그의 머리 일곱 가닥을 베틀 날실과 섞어 짜고 핀으로 그것을 단단하게 조인 다음 다시 삼손에게 외쳤다. '이봐요, 삼손! 블레셋 사람들이 왔어요!' 그러자 삼손이 잠에서 깨어나 베틀 핀과 날실을 뽑아 버렸다.
  5. 그때 들릴라가 삼손에게 말하였다. '당신의 마음이 딴 곳에 있으면서 어떻게 나를 사랑한다고 말할 수 있어요? 당신이 나를 세 번이나 놀렸단 말이예요 당신의 그 엄청난 힘이 어디서 나오는지 당신은 아직도 나에게 말해 주지 않았어요'
  1. It came about when she pressed him daily with her words and urged him, that his soul was annoyed to death.
  2. So he told her all that was in his heart and said to her, "A razor has never come on my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If I am shaved, then my strength will leave me and I will become weak and be like any other man."
  3. When Delilah saw that he had told her all that was in his heart, she sent and called the lords of the Philistines, saying, "Come up once more, for he has told me all that is in his heart." Then the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hands.
  4. She made him sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his hair. Then she began to afflict him, and his strength left him.
  5. She said, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" And he awoke from his sleep and said, "I will go out as at other times and shake myself free." But he did not know that the LORD had departed from him.
  1. 들릴라가 날마다 치근거리며 졸라 대자 삼손은 괴로와서 죽을 지경이었다.
  2. 그래서 그는 모든 것을 털어놓았다. '나는 아직 한 번도 머리를 깎아 본 적이 없소. 이것은 내가 날 때부터 하나님께 바치진 나실인이기 때문이오. 만일 내 머리를 깎아 버리면 내가 힘을 잃고 약해져서 다른 사람과 같이 될 것이오.'
  3. 들릴라는 이제야 삼손이 진실을 말한 줄 알고 블레셋 사람의 다섯 통치자들에게 사람을 보내 '이제 한 번만 더 오십시오. 삼손이 사실을 다 털어놓았습니다.' 하고 전하였다. 그래서 그들은 약속대로 은화를 가지고 왔다
  4. 들릴라는 삼손을 자기 무릎에 눕혀 재운 후에 사람을 불러 일곱 가닥으로 늘어진 그의 머리털을 싹독 잘라 버렸다. 그리고서 그를 괴롭혀 보았으나 이미 힘은 그에게서 떠나고 없었다.
  5. 그때 들릴라가 삼손에게 '이봐요, 삼손! 블레셋 사람들이 왔어요!' 하고 소리치자 삼손은 잠에서 깨어나 '내가 전처럼 나가서 힘을 떨쳐야지!' 하고 혼자 중얼거렸다. 그러나 삼손은 여호와께서 자기를 떠나신 것을 깨닫지 못하였다.
  1. Then the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes; and they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze chains, and he was a grinder in the prison.
  2. However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it was shaved off.
  3. Now the lords of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice, for they said, "Our god has given Samson our enemy into our hands."
  4. When the people saw him, they praised their god, for they said, "Our god has given our enemy into our hands, Even the destroyer of our country, Who has slain many of us."
  5. It so happened when they were in high spirits, that they said, "Call for Samson, that he may amuse us." So they called for Samson from the prison, and he entertained them. And they made him stand between the pillars.
  1. 그러자 블레셋 사람들이 그를 사로잡아 그의 두 눈을 뽑고 가사로 끌고 가서 놋사슬로 묶어 감옥에서 맷돌을 돌리게 하였다.
  2. 그러나 깎인 그의 머리털은 다시 자라기 시작하였다.
  3. 블레셋 통치자들은 그들의 신 다곤에게 성대한 제사를 드리려고 한자리에 모여서 즐거워하며 '우리의 신이 우리 원수 삼손을 우리 손에 넘겨 주셨다!' 하고 외쳤다.
  4. 백성들도 삼손을 보고 그들의 신을 찬양하며 이렇게 외쳤다. '우리 땅을 못 쓰게 만들고 우리 백성을 수없이 죽인 원수 삼손을 우리의 신이 우리 손에 넘겨 주셨다!'
  5. 그들은 또 몹시 흥겨워 '삼손을 끌어내어 재주를 부리게 하자' 하고 삼손을 감옥에서 끌어내었다. 그래서 삼손은 그들을 위해 재주를 부렸다. 그들은 삼손을 기둥 사이에 세웠는데
  1. Then Samson said to the boy who was holding his hand, "Let me feel the pillars on which the house rests, that I may lean against them."
  2. Now the house was full of men and women, and all the lords of the Philistines were there. And about 3,000 men and women were on the roof looking on while Samson was amusing them.
  3. Then Samson called to the LORD and said, "O Lord GOD, please remember me and please strengthen me just this time, O God, that I may at once be avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes."
  4. Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and braced himself against them, the one with his right hand and the other with his left.
  5. And Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" And he bent with all his might so that the house fell on the lords and all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he killed in his life.
  1. 그때 삼손이 자기 손을 붙들고 있는 소년에게 '이 신전을 버티고 있는 기둥을 찾아서 거기에 기댈 수 있게 해 다오.' 하고 부탁하였다.
  2. 그 신전에는 수많은 남녀가 가득차 있었다. 블레셋 모든 통치자들도 거기에 있었으며 옥상에는 3,000명 정도의 남녀가 삼손이 재주 부리는 것을 지켜보고 있었다.
  3. 그때 삼손은 여호와께 기도하였다. '주 여호와여, 나를 기억하소서. 하나님이시여, 나에게 한 번만 더 힘을 주셔서 나의 두 눈을 뽑은 저 블레셋 사람들에게 단번에 원수를 갚게 해 주소서.'
  4. 그리고서 삼손은 그 신전을 버티고 있는 중앙의 두 기둥에 양손을 하나씩 갖다 대고 떠밀며
  5. '블레셋 사람들과 함께 죽게 하소서!' 하고 외치며 있는 힘을 다해 그 기둥을 밀어 제쳤다. 그러자 그 신전이 블레셋 통치자들과 그 안에 있는 모든 사람들 위에 무너져 내렸다. 이와 같이 삼손은 살아 있을 때보다도 그가 죽을 때 더 많은 사람을 죽였다.
  1. Then his brothers and all his father's household came down, took him, brought him up and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of Manoah his father. Thus he had judged Israel twenty years.
  1. 그런 다음에 그의 형제들과 친척들이 내려와 그의 시체를 거두어 가지고 올라와서 소라와 에스다올 사이에 있는 그의 아버지 마노아의 묘지에 장사하였다. 이렇게 해서 삼손은 20년 동안 이스라엘의 사사로 지냈다.
