- My son, give attention to my wisdom, Incline your ear to my understanding;
- That you may observe discretion And your lips may reserve knowledge.
- For the lips of an adulteress drip honey And smoother than oil is her speech;
- But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.
- Her feet go down to death, Her steps take hold of Sheol.

- 내 아들아, 내가 지혜와 통찰력으로 가르치는 말을 잘 귀담아 듣고
- 모든 일을 신중하게 하며 네 말에 지식이 깃들여 있음을 보여 주어라.
- 방탕한 여인의 입술은 꿀보다 달고 그 입은 기름보다 더 미끄러우나
- 나중에는 쓰라림과 고통만을 남겨 줄 뿐이다.
- 그런 여자는 지옥을 향해 죽음의 길을 치닫고 있으면서도

- She does not ponder the path of life; Her ways are unstable, she does not know it.
- Now then, my sons, listen to me And do not depart from the words of my mouth.
- Keep your way far from her And do not go near the door of her house,
- Or you will give your vigor to others And your years to the cruel one;
- And strangers will be filled with your strength And your hard-earned goods will go to the house of an alien;

- 생명의 길을 생각하지 못하며 자기 길이 비뚤어져도 그것을 깨닫지 못한다.
- 내 아들들아, 이제 너희는 내 말을 잘 듣고 잊지 말며
- 그런 여자를 멀리하고 그녀의 집 문에도 가까이 가지 말아라.
- 그렇지 않으면 한때 네가 누리던 영예를 다른 사람에게 빼앗기게 되고 너는 난폭한 자들의 손에 죽임을 당할 것이며
- 낯선 사람들이 네 재물로 배를 채우고 네 수고한 것이 다른 사람의 집으로 갈 것이다.

- And you groan at your final end, When your flesh and your body are consumed;
- And you say, "How I have hated instruction! And my heart spurned reproof!
- "I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to my instructors!
- "I was almost in utter ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation."

- 그럴 경우 결국 네 육체는 병들어 못 쓰게 되고 너는 이렇게 탄식하게 될 것이다.
- '내가 왜 훈계를 싫어하며 어째서 내 마음이 꾸지람을 가볍게 여겼는가?
- 내가 내 스승의 말을 듣지 않았고 나를 가르치는 사람에게 귀를 기울이지 않았더니
- 이제 많은 사람들 앞에서 수치를 당하게 되었구나.'
