- See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
- For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
- and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
- and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;
- having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

- 누가 철학이나 헛된 속임수로, 여러분을 노획물로 삼을까 조심하십시오. 그런 것은 사람들의 전통과 세상의 유치한 원리를 따라 하는 것이요, 그리스도를 따라 하는 것이 아닙니다.
- 그리스도 안에 온갖 충만한 신성이 몸이 되어 머물고 계십니다.
- 여러분도 그분 안에서 충만함을 받았습니다. 그리스도는 모든 통치와 권세의 머리이십니다.
- 그분 안에서 여러분도 손으로 행하지 않은 할례, 곧 육신의 몸을 벗어버리는 그리스도의 할례를 받았습니다.
- 여러분은 세례로 그리스도와 함께 묻혔고, 또한 그분을 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리신 하나님의 능력을 믿는 믿음으로, 그리스도 안에서, 그리스도와 함께 살아났습니다.

- When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
- having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
- When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.
- Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--
- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

- 또 여러분은 죄를 지은 것과 육신이 할례를 받지 않은 것 때문에 죽었으나, 하나님께서는 여러분을 그리스도와 함께 살리시고, 우리의 모든 죄를 용서하여 주셨습니다.
- 하나님께서는 우리에게 불리한 조문들이 들어 있는 빚문서를 지워 버리시고, 그것을 십자가에 못박으셔서, 우리 가운데서 제거해버리셨습니다.
- 그리고 모든 통치자들과 권력자들의 무장을 해제시키시고, 그들을 그리스도의 개선 행진에 포로로 내세우셔서, 뭇 사람의 구경거리로 삼으셨습니다.
- 그러므로 먹고 마시는 일이나 명절이나 초승달 축제나 안식일 문제로, 아무도 여러분을 심판하지 못하게 하십시오.
- 이런 것은 장차 올 것들의 그림자일 뿐이요, 그 실체는 그리스도에게 있습니다.

- Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind,
- and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God.
- If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as,
- "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!"
- (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)--in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men?

- 아무도 겸손과 천사 숭배를 주장하면서 여러분을 비방하지 못하게 하십시오. 그런 자는 자기가 본 환상에 도취되어 있고, 육신의 생각으로 터무니없이 교만을 부립니다.
- 그는 머리에 붙어 있지 않습니다. 온 몸은 머리이신 그리스도로부터 각 마디와 힘줄을 통하여 영양을 공급받고, 서로 연결되어서 하나님께서 자라게 하시는 대로 자라나는 것입니다.
- 여러분은 그리스도와 함께 죽어서 세상의 유치한 원리에서 떠났는데, 어찌하여 아직도 이 세상에 속하여 사는 것과 같이 규정에 얽매여 있습니까?
- "붙잡지도 말아라. 맛보지도 말아라. 건드리지도 말아라" 하니, 웬 말입니까?
- 이런 것들은 다 한때에 쓰다가 없어지는 것으로서, 사람의 규정과 교훈을 따른 것입니다.

- These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

- 이런 것들은, 꾸며낸 경건과 겸손과 몸을 학대하는 데는 지혜를 나타내 보이지만, 육체의 욕망을 억제하는 데는 아무런 유익이 없습니다.
