- Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
- Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
- We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater;
- therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure.
- This is a plain indication of God's righteous judgment so that you will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

- 바울과 실루아노와 디모데가 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 데살로니가 사람의 교회에 이 편지를 씁니다.
- 하나님 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도께서 내려주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다.
- 형제자매 여러분, 우리는 여러분을 두고 언제나 하나님께 감사를 드릴 수밖에 없습니다. 그렇게 하는 것이 당연한 일이니, 그것은, 여러분의 믿음이 크게 자라고, 여러분 모두가 각자 서로에게 베푸는 사랑이 더욱 풍성해 가고 있기 때문입니다.
- 그러므로 우리는 온갖 박해와 환난 가운데서도 여러분이 간직한 그 인내와 믿음을 두고서 하나님의 여러 교회에서 여러분을 자랑하고 있습니다.
- 이 일은 하나님의 공의로운 심판의 표이니, 하나님께서 여러분을 하나님 나라에 합당한 사람이 되게 하시려고 주신 것입니다. 여러분은 참으로 그 나라를 위하여 고난을 당하고 있습니다.

- For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,
- and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire,
- dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
- These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
- when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed--for our testimony to you was believed.

- 하나님은 공의를 베푸십니다. 여러분을 괴롭히는 자들에게는 괴로움으로 갚아주시고,
- 괴로움을 받는 여러분에게는 우리와 함께 안식으로 갚아주십니다. 이 일은 주 예수께서 자기의 권능 있는 천사들과 함께 하늘로부터
- 불꽃에 싸여 나타나셔서 하나님을 알지 못하는 자들과 우리 주 예수의 복음에 순종하지 않는 자들을 처벌하실 때에 일어날 것입니다.
- 그들은 주님 앞과 주님의 권능의 영광에서 떨어져 나가서, 영원히 멸망하는 형벌을 받을 것입니다.
- 그 날에 주님께서 오시면, 자기 성도들에게서 영광을 받으시고, 모든 믿는 사람에게서 찬사를 받으실 것입니다. 여러분은, 우리가 여러분에게 전한 증거를 믿었습니다.

- To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power,
- so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

- 그러므로 우리가 언제나 여러분을 위하여 기도합니다. 그것은 우리 하나님께서 여러분을 그의 부르심에 합당한 사람이 되게 해 주시며 또 그의 능력으로 모든 선한 뜻과 믿음의 행위를 완성해 주시기를 비는 것입니다.
- 이렇게 해서 우리 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜로 우리 주 예수의 이름이 여러분에게서 영광을 받고, 여러분도 그리스도 안에서 영광을 받게 하려는 것입니다.
