예레미야 44:15-46:28

 예레미야는 우상 숭배를 고집하는 일부 백성들에게 유다의 패망 원인이 우상 숭배였음을 깨우쳐 주면서, 그들이 하나님을 섬기지 못하게 될 것과 소수를 제외하고는 바벨론 왕에게 죽임을 당할 것을 예고하였다. 하나님은 예언을 기록한 뒤 낙심해 있던 바룩에게 재앙중에도 그의 생명을 보호해 주시겠다고 약속하셨다. 그리고 애굽이 바벨론에 의해 멸망하고 이스라엘이 구원될 것을 약속하셨다.
  
 
  1. Then all the men who were aware that their wives were burning sacrifices to other gods, along with all the women who were standing by, as a large assembly, including all the people who were living in Pathros in the land of Egypt, responded to Jeremiah, saying,
  2. "As for the message that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we are not going to listen to you!
  3. "But rather we will certainly carry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, by burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, just as we ourselves, our forefathers, our kings and our princes did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food and were well off and saw no misfortune.
  4. "But since we stopped burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have met our end by the sword and by famine."
  5. "And," said the women, "when we were burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and were pouring out drink offerings to her, was it without our husbands that we made for her sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her?"
  1. 자기 아내들이 다른 신들에게 제물을 살라 바친다는 것을 아는 모든 남편들과 그 곳에 서 있던 모든 여인들, 곧 하 이집트와 상 이집트에 사는 온 백성의 큰 무리가 예레미야에게 항의하였다.
  2. "당신이 주님의 이름으로 우리에게 무슨 말을 하든지 간에, 우리는 당신의 말을 듣지 않겠소.
  3. 우리는 우리의 입으로 맹세한 대로 할 것이오. 우리와 우리 조상과 우리 왕들과 우리 고관들이 유다 성읍들과 예루살렘 거리에서 하던 대로, 우리도 하늘 여신에게 제물을 살라 바치고, 그에게 술 제물을 바치겠소. 하늘 여신을 섬길 때에는 우리에게 먹을 양식이 풍족하였고, 우리가 잘 살았으며, 재앙을 만나지도 않았는데,
  4. 우리가 하늘 여신에게 제물을 살라 바치는 일을 그치고 그에게 술 제물 바치는 일을 그친 뒤부터는, 우리에게 모든 것이 부족하게 되었고, 우리는 전쟁과 기근으로 죽게 되었소."
  5. 여인들도 이렇게 말하였다. "우리가 하늘 여신에게 제물을 살라 바치고 그에게 술 제물을 바칠 때에, 우리가 남편들도 모르게 그것을 했겠습니까? 그리고 그 여신의 모습대로 빵을 만들어 바치며 술 제물을 바칠 때에, 우리가 남편들도 모르게 그것을 했겠습니까?"
  1. Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men and women--even to all the people who were giving him such an answer--saying,
  2. "As for the smoking sacrifices that you burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your forefathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them and did not all this come into His mind?
  3. "So the LORD was no longer able to endure it, because of the evil of your deeds, because of the abominations which you have committed; thus your land has become a ruin, an object of horror and a curse, without an inhabitant, as it is this day.
  4. "Because you have burned sacrifices and have sinned against the LORD and not obeyed the voice of the LORD or walked in His law, His statutes or His testimonies, therefore this calamity has befallen you, as it has this day."
  5. Then Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, "Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt,
  1. 예레미야가 온 백성 곧 자기에게 그렇게 말한 남자와 여자와 온 백성에게 말하였다.
  2. "여러분과 여러분의 조상, 여러분의 왕들과 여러분의 고관들, 그리고 일반 백성 모두가 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘 모든 거리에서 제물을 불살라 바친 그 분향을, 주님께서 기억하지 않으셨겠습니까? 바로 그런 일이 주님의 마음 속에 떠오르지 않으셨겠습니까?
  3. 주님께서는 여러분의 악한 소행을 보시다가 더 이상 참을 수가 없으셨고, 여러분이 한 역겨운 일을 보시다가 더 이상 견딜 수가 없으셨습니다. 그래서 여러분의 나라가 오늘날과 같이 주민이 없는 폐허로 바뀌고, 놀라움과 저주의 대상이 되고 말았습니다.
  4. 여러분이 다른 신들에게 제물을 살라 바쳐서, 주님께 죄를 짓고, 주님께 순종하지 않고, 주님의 율법과 율례와 규정대로 살지 않았기 때문에, 오늘날과 같이 여러분에게 이런 재앙이 닥쳐 온 것입니다."
  5. 예레미야가 온 백성에게 특히 모든 여인에게 말하였다. "이집트 땅에 있는 온 유다 백성 여러분, 주님의 말씀을 들으십시오.
  1. thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, as follows: 'As for you and your wives, you have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled it with your hands, saying, "We will certainly perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her " Go ahead and confirm your vows, and certainly perform your vows!'
  2. "Nevertheless hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who are living in the land of Egypt, 'Behold, I have sworn by My great name,' says the LORD, 'never shall My name be invoked again by the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "As the Lord GOD lives."
  3. 'Behold, I am watching over them for harm and not for good, and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will meet their end by the sword and by famine until they are completely gone.
  4. 'Those who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt to the land of Judah few in number Then all the remnant of Judah who have gone to the land of Egypt to reside there will know whose word will stand, Mine or theirs.
  5. 'This will be the sign to you,' declares the LORD, 'that I am going to punish you in this place, so that you may know that My words will surely stand against you for harm.'
  1. 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '너희와 너희 아내들은 입으로 서약한 것은 꼭 실천하는 자들이다. 너희는 서약한 그대로 하고야 말겠다고 했고, 너희는 하늘 여신에게 제물을 살라 바치고, 또 그에게 술 제물을 바치겠다고 했으니, 너희의 서약을 지킬 테면 지키고, 너희의 서약을 실천할 테면 해보려무나!
  2. 그러나 이집트 땅에 사는 유다 사람들아, 너희는 모두 나 주의 말을 들어라. 나 주가 말한다. 내가 나의 큰 이름을 걸고 맹세한다. 이집트 온 땅에 있는 어떤 유다 사람이든지, 이제는, 주님의 살아 계심을 두고 맹세한다 하면서 나의 이름을 부르지 못하게 하겠다.
  3. 이제는 내가, 그들을 지켜 보겠다. 복을 내리려고 지켜 보는 것이 아니라 재앙을 내리려고 지켜 보겠다. 그래서 이집트 땅에 있는 모든 유다 사람이 멸종될 때까지, 전쟁과 기근으로 그들을 죽이겠다.
  4. 전쟁을 피하여 이집트 땅을 벗어나 유다 땅으로 돌아갈 사람의 수는, 매우 적을 것이다. 이집트 땅에 머물려고 내려간 유다의 살아 남은 모든 사람이, 나의 말과 저희들의 말 가운데서 누구의 말대로 되었는가를 알게 될 것이다.
  5. 나 주가 하는 말이다. 내가 이 곳에서 너희를 벌하고, 너희에게 재앙을 내리겠다고 한 약속이 반드시 이루어진다는 것을 증명하는 표징은 이것이다.
  1. "Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I am going to give over Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt to the hand of his enemies, to the hand of those who seek his life, just as I gave over Zedekiah king of Judah to the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and was seeking his life.'"
  1. 나 주가 말한다. 내가 유다 왕 시드기야를, 그의 목숨을 노리고 있던 그의 원수인 바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 넘겨 주었던 것과 같이 이집트 왕 바로호브라를, 그의 목숨을 노리고 있는 그의 원수들의 손에 넘겨 주겠다.'"
 
  바룩에게 주신 약속(45:1-45:5)    
 
  1. This is the message which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written down these words in a book at Jeremiah's dictation, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:
  2. "Thus says the LORD the God of Israel to you, O Baruch:
  3. 'You said, "Ah, woe is me! For the LORD has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning and have found no rest."'
  4. "Thus you are to say to him, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, what I have built I am about to tear down, and what I have planted I am about to uproot, that is, the whole land."
  5. 'But you, are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I am going to bring disaster on all flesh,' declares the LORD, 'but I will give your life to you as booty in all the places where you may go.'"
  1. 요시야의 아들 여호야김이 유다 왕이 되어 다스린 지 사 년째가 되던 해에, 예언자 예레미야는 네리야의 아들 바룩에게, 주님께서 하신 말씀을 불러 주어, 책에 받아쓰게 하였다. 그 때에 예언자 예레미야가 바룩에게 말하였다.
  2. "주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 그대 바룩에게 전하라고 하시면서, 나에게 이런 말씀을 하셨소.
  3. 주님께서는 그대가 언젠가 '주님께서 나의 고통에 슬픔을 더하셨으니, 나는 이제 꼼짝없이 죽게 되었구나. 나는 탄식으로 기진하였고, 마음 평안할 일이 없다' 라고 말한 것을 기억하고 계시오.
  4. 주님께서는 나더러, 그대 바룩에게 전하라고 하시면서, 이렇게 말씀하셨소. '나 주가 말한다. 나는, 내가 세운 것을 헐기도 하고, 내가 심은 것을 뽑기도 한다. 온 세상을 내가 이렇게 다스리거늘,
  5. 네가 이제 큰일을 찾고 있느냐? 그만 두어라. 이제 내가 모든 사람에게 재앙을 내릴 터인데 너만은 내가 보호하여, 네가 어디로 가든지, 너의 목숨만은 건져 주겠다. 나 주의 말이다.'"
 
  애굽에 대한 예언(46:1-46:28)    
 
  1. That which came as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.
  2. To Egypt, concerning the army of Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt, which was by the Euphrates River at Carchemish, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:
  3. "Line up the shield and buckler, And draw near for the battle!
  4. "Harness the horses, And mount the steeds, And take your stand with helmets on! Polish the spears, Put on the scale-armor!
  5. "Why have I seen it? They are terrified, They are drawing back, And their mighty men are defeated And have taken refuge in flight, Without facing back; Terror is on every side!" Declares the LORD.
  1. 이것은 이방 민족들에게 전하라고, 예언자 예레미야에게 하신 주님의 말씀이다.
  2. 이것은 이집트에게 한 말씀으로서, 요시야의 아들 여호야김이 유다 왕이 되어 다스린 지 사 년째가 되던 해에, 유프라테스 강 근처의 갈그미스까지 원정을 갔다가 바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살에게 격파된 이집트 왕 바로 느고의 군대를 두고 하신 말씀이다.
  3. （이집트의 장교들이 외친다.） "크고 작은 방패로 무장하고 싸움터로 나아가거라!
  4. 말에 안장을 얹고, 올라타거라! 투구를 쓰고 대열을 정돈하여라. 창을 날카롭게 갈고, 갑옷을 입어라."
  5. 주님께서 말씀하신다. "내가 보고 있는 것이 무엇이냐? 그들이 모두 놀라서 뒤로 도망하고 있구나. 그들의 용사들마저도 격파되어, 겁에 질려서, 뒤도 돌아보지 않고, 정신없이 도망한다."
  1. Let not the swift man flee, Nor the mighty man escape; In the north beside the river Euphrates They have stumbled and fallen.
  2. Who is this that rises like the Nile, Like the rivers whose waters surge about?
  3. Egypt rises like the Nile, Even like the rivers whose waters surge about; And He has said, "I will rise and cover that land; I will surely destroy the city and its inhabitants."
  4. Go up, you horses, and drive madly, you chariots, That the mighty men may march forward: Ethiopia and Put, that handle the shield, And the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
  5. For that day belongs to the Lord GOD of hosts, A day of vengeance, so as to avenge Himself on His foes; And the sword will devour and be satiated And drink its fill of their blood; For there will be a slaughter for the Lord GOD of hosts, In the land of the north by the river Euphrates.
  1. 발이 빠른 사람도 달아나지 못하고, 용사도 도망하지 못한다. 그들은 저 북녘 유프라테스 강 가에서, 비틀거리다가 쓰러져 죽는다.
  2. 나일 강 물처럼 불어 오르는 저것이 무엇이냐? 범람하는 강물처럼 불어 오르는 저것이 무엇이냐?
  3. 이집트가 나일 강 물처럼 불어 올랐다. 범람하는 강물처럼 불어 올랐다. 이집트는 외쳤다. '내가 강물처럼 불어 올라서 온 땅을 덮고, 여러 성읍과 그 주민을 멸망시키겠다.
  4. 말들아, 달려라. 병거들아, 돌격하여라. 용사들아, 진격하여라. 에티오피아의 군대와 리비아의 군대도 방패를 들고 진격하여라. 리디아의 군대도 활을 당기며 진격하여라.'
  5. 오늘은 만군의 주 하나님께서 원수들에게 복수하시는 날이다. 오늘은 주님께서 원수를 갚으시는 날이다. 주님의 칼이 그들을 삼켜서 배부를 것이며, 그들의 피로 흠뻑 젖을 것이다. 오늘은 만군의 주 하나님께서 북녘 땅 유프라테스 강 가로 오셔서, 희생제물을 잡으시는 날이다.
  1. Go up to Gilead and obtain balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain have you multiplied remedies; There is no healing for you.
  2. The nations have heard of your shame, And the earth is full of your cry of distress; For one warrior has stumbled over another, And both of them have fallen down together.
  3. This is the message which the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to smite the land of Egypt:
  4. "Declare in Egypt and proclaim in Migdol, Proclaim also in Memphis and Tahpanhes; Say, 'Take your stand and get yourself ready, For the sword has devoured those around you.'
  5. "Why have your mighty ones become prostrate? They do not stand because the LORD has thrust them down.
  1. 처녀, 딸 이집트야, 길르앗 산지로 올라가서 유향을 가져 오너라. 네가 아무리 많은 약을 써 보아도 너에게는 백약이 무효다. 너의 병은 나을 병이 아니다.
  2. 이제는 너의 수치스러운 소문이 세계 만민에게 퍼졌고, 너의 용사들마저 서로 부딪쳐 함께 쓰러져 죽었으므로, 너의 울부짖는 소리가 온 땅에 가득하다.
  3. 주님께서 예언자 예레미야에게, 바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살이 이집트 땅을 치려고 올 것을 말씀하셨다.
  4. "너희는 믹돌에서 외치고, 멤피스와 다바네스에서도 외쳐서 온 이집트에 알려라. 너희는 이렇게 전하여라. '너희는 어서 방어 태세를 갖추어라. 사방에서 전쟁이 일어나서 너를 삼킬 것이다' 하여라.
  5. 어찌하여 너의 힘센 황소가 꺼꾸러졌느냐? 주님께서 그를 메어치셨기 때문에, 그가 서서 견딜 수가 없었다.
  1. "They have repeatedly stumbled; Indeed, they have fallen one against another Then they said, 'Get up! And let us go back To our own people and our native land Away from the sword of the oppressor.'
  2. "They cried there, 'Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a big noise; He has let the appointed time pass by!'
  3. "As I live," declares the King Whose name is the LORD of hosts, "Surely one shall come who looms up like Tabor among the mountains, Or like Carmel by the sea.
  4. "Make your baggage ready for exile, O daughter dwelling in Egypt, For Memphis will become a desolation; It will even be burned down and bereft of inhabitants.
  5. "Egypt is a pretty heifer, But a horsefly is coming from the north--it is coming!
  1. 너희의 많은 군인들이 비틀거리고 쓰러져 죽으면서 서로 말하기를 '어서 일어나서, 우리 민족에게로 돌아가자. 이 무서운 전쟁을 피하여 우리의 고향 땅으로 돌아가자' 하였다."
  2. "이제는 이집트 왕 바로를 '기회를 놓친 떠벌이'라고 불러라."
  3. "나는 왕이다. 나의 이름은 '만군의 주'다. 나의 삶을 두고 맹세한다. 너를 공격하는 군대의 힘은 산들 사이에 우뚝 솟은 다볼 산과 같고, 바닷가에 높이 솟은 갈멜 산과 같다.
  4. 딸 이집트의 백성아, 너희는 짐을 꾸려서 잡혀 갈 준비를 하여라. 멤피스는 황무지로 바뀌어서, 아무도 살 수 없는 폐허가 될 것이다.
  5. 예쁘디예쁜 암송아지 이집트가, 이제는 북녘에서 마구 몰려오는 쇠파리 떼에 시달리는 암송아지가 될 것이다.
  1. "Also her mercenaries in her midst Are like fattened calves, For even they too have turned back and have fled away together; They did not stand their ground For the day of their calamity has come upon them, The time of their punishment.
  2. "Its sound moves along like a serpent; For they move on like an army And come to her as woodcutters with axes.
  3. "They have cut down her forest," declares the LORD; "Surely it will no more be found, Even though they are now more numerous than locusts And are without number.
  4. "The daughter of Egypt has been put to shame, Given over to the power of the people of the north."
  5. The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, says, "Behold, I am going to punish Amon of Thebes, and Pharaoh, and Egypt along with her gods and her kings, even Pharaoh and those who trust in him.
  1. 사서 들여온 용병들은 살진 송아지들이다. 파멸의 날이 다가오고 징벌의 시각이 다가오면, 그들마저도 버티지 못하고 돌아서서 다 함께 달아날 것이다.
  2. 적들이 군대를 거느리고 밀어닥치며, 그들이 벌목하는 사람들처럼 도끼를 들고 이집트를 치러 들어오면, 이집트는 소리를 내며 도망 치는 뱀처럼 달아날 것이다.
  3. 나 주의 말이다. 그 숲이 들어설 수 없이 빽빽하다 하여도, 그들의 수가 메뚜기 떼보다도 많고, 헤아릴 수 없이 많으므로, 그들이 그 숲의 나무들을 모두 잘라 버릴 것이다.
  4. 딸 이집트의 백성이 수치를 당하고, 북녘 백성의 손에 넘어갈 것이다."
  5. "나 만군의 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 말한다. 보아라, 내가 테에베의 신 아몬에게 벌을 내리고, 바로와 이집트와 그 나라의 신들이나 왕들에게도 벌을 내리고, 바로뿐만 아니라 그를 의지하는 사람들에게도 벌을 내리겠다.
  1. "I shall give them over to the power of those who are seeking their lives, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of his officers Afterwards, however, it will be inhabited as in the days of old," declares the LORD.
  2. "But as for you, O Jacob My servant, do not fear, Nor be dismayed, O Israel! For, see, I am going to save you from afar, And your descendants from the land of their captivity; And Jacob will return and be undisturbed And secure, with no one making him tremble.
  3. "O Jacob My servant, do not fear," declares the LORD, "For I am with you For I will make a full end of all the nations Where I have driven you, Yet I will not make a full end of you; But I will correct you properly And by no means leave you unpunished."
  1. 내가 그들의 목숨을 노리는 바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살과 그 부하들의 손에 그들을 넘겨 주겠다. 그러나 그런 다음에도 그 땅에는 다시 예전처럼 사람이 살게 될 것이다. 나 주의 말이다."
  2. "나의 종 야곱아, 너는 두려워하지 말아라. 이스라엘아, 너는 무서워하지 말아라. 내가 너를 먼 곳에서 구원하여 데려오고, 포로로 잡혀 간 땅에서 너의 자손을 구원할 것이니, 야곱이 고향으로 돌아와서 평안하고 안정되게 살 것이며, 아무런 위협도 받지 않고 살 것이다.
  3. 나 주의 말이다. 나의 종 야곱아, 너는 두려워하지 말아라. 내가 너와 함께 있다. 내가 너를 쫓아 여러 나라로 흩어 버렸지만, 이제는 내가 그 모든 나라를 멸망시키겠다. 그러나 너만은 내가 멸망시키지 않고, 법에 따라서 징계하겠다. 나는 절대로, 네가 벌을 면하게 하지는 않겠다."
