디모데전서 3:1-3:16

 바울은 교회를 돌볼 수 있는 자격을 갖춘 감독과 집사를 임명하는 규정을 제시하였다. 또한 이 서신을 쓴 목적이 디모데에게 목회 방법을 가르치는 데 있다고 밝히며, 예수 그리스도에 대한 경건의 비밀을 증언했다.
  
  감독의 자격(3:1-3:7)    
 
  1. It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do.
  2. An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
  3. not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money.
  4. He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity
  5. (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?),
  1. 「もし 人が 監督の 職を 望むなら， それは 良い 仕事を 願うことである 」とは 正しい 言葉である．
  2. さて， 監督は， 非難のない 人で， ひとりの 妻の 夫であり， 自らを 制し， 愼み 深く， 禮儀正しく， 旅人をもてなし， よく 敎えることができ，
  3. 酒を 好まず， 亂暴でなく， 寬容であって， 人と 爭わず， 金に 淡泊で，
  4. 自分の 家をよく 治め， 謹嚴であって， 子供たちを 從順な 者に 育てている 人でなければならない．
  5. 自分の 家を 治めることも 心得ていない 人が， どうして 神の 敎會を 預かることができようか．
  1. and not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil.
  2. And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
  1. 彼はまた， 信者になって 間もないものであってはならない． そうであると， 高慢になって， 惡魔と 同じ 審判を 受けるかも 知れない．
  2. さらにまた， 敎會外の 人¿にもよく 思われている 人でなければならない． そうでないと， そしりを 受け， 惡魔のわなにかかるであろう．
 
  집사의 자격(3:8-3:16)    
 
  1. Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain,
  2. but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
  3. These men must also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach.
  4. Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.
  5. Deacons must be husbands of only one wife, and good managers of their children and their own households.
  1. それと 同樣に， 執事も 謹嚴であって， 二枚舌を 使わず， 大酒を 飮まず， 利をむさぼらず，
  2. きよい 良心をもって， 信仰の 奧義を 保っていなければならない．
  3. 彼らはまず 調べられて， 不都合なことがなかったなら， それから 執事の 職につかすべきである．
  4. 女たちも， 同樣に 謹嚴で， 他人をそしらず， 自らを 制し， すべてのことに 忠實でなければならない．
  5. 執事はひとりの 妻の 夫であって， 子供と 自分の 家とをよく 治める 者でなければならない．
  1. For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
  2. I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long;
  3. but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.
  4. By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.
  1. 執事の 職をよくつとめた 者は， 良い 地位を 得， さらに キリスト · イエス を 信じる 信仰による， 大いなる 確信を 得るであろう．
  2. わたしは， あなたの 所にすぐ 行きたいと 望みながら， この 手紙を 書いている．
  3. 万一わたしが 遲れる 場合には， 神の 家でいかに 生活すべきかを， あなたに 知ってもらいたいからである． 神の 家というのは， 生ける 神の 敎會のことであって， それは 眞理の 柱， 眞理の 基礎なのである．
  4. 確かに 偉大なのは， この 信心の 奧義である， ／「キリスト は 肉において 現れ， ／靈において 義とせられ， ／御使たちに 見られ， ／諸國民の 間に 傳えられ， ／世界の 中で 信じられ， ／榮光のうちに 天に 上げられた 」．
