  1. They joined themselves also to Baal-peor, And ate sacrifices offered to the dead.
  2. Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And the plague broke out among them.
  3. Then Phinehas stood up and interposed, And so the plague was stayed.
  4. And it was reckoned to him for righteousness, To all generations forever.
  5. They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, So that it went hard with Moses on their account;
  1. They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
  2. Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
  3. Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
  4. And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
  5. They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
  1. Because they were rebellious against His Spirit, He spoke rashly with his lips.
  2. They did not destroy the peoples, As the LORD commanded them,
  3. But they mingled with the nations And learned their practices,
  4. And served their idols, Which became a snare to them.
  5. They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,
  1. Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
  2. They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
  3. But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
  4. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
  5. Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
  1. And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with the blood.
  2. Thus they became unclean in their practices, And played the harlot in their deeds.
  1. And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
  2. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
