욥기 34:1-36:33

 엘리후는 의롭다고 주장하는 욥을 악인에 비유하면서, 욥이 하나님을 거역하는 말을 많이 한다고 하였다. 그리고 하나님의 공의와 공평하심을 들어 욥을 비난하면서, 고난 가운데서 하나님께 불평하지 말라고 권고하였다.
  
  엘리후의 변론(34:1-36:33)    
 
  1. Then Elihu continued and said,
  2. "Hear my words, you wise men, And listen to me, you who know.
  3. "For the ear tests words As the palate tastes food.
  4. "Let us choose for ourselves what is right; Let us know among ourselves what is good.
  5. "For Job has said, 'I am righteous, But God has taken away my right;
  1. 엘리후가 말을 계속하였다.
  2. 여러분, 현자들이여, 내 말을 들으시오. 유식하신 어른들이여, 나에게 귀를 기울이시오.
  3. 입천장이 맛을 가릴 줄 알듯이 귀란 것은 말을 알아들을 줄 아는 법,
  4. 무엇이 바른 판단인지 결판을 냅시다. 우리 함께 시비를 가려봅시다.
  5. 욥이 하는 소리를 들으셨지요? "나는 옳게 살았는데 하느님께서 나에게 죄를 주신다.
  1. Should I lie concerning my right? My wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.'
  2. "What man is like Job, Who drinks up derision like water,
  3. Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, And walks with wicked men?
  4. "For he has said, 'It profits a man nothing When he is pleased with God.'
  5. "Therefore, listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do wickedness, And from the Almighty to do wrong.
  1. 나는 바로 살았는데 이 아픔이 웬일인가? 나 아무 죄도 없는데 죽을 병이 들다니."
  2. 세상에 욥 같은 인간이 어디 있겠습니까? 물 마시듯이 예사로 욕설을 퍼붓는 사람이 그말고 또 있겠습니까?
  3. 악덕배들하고나 어울려 다니고 불의한 자들과 함께 돌아다니면서
  4. 겨우 한다는 소리가 이렇습니다. "하느님과 잘 지내봐야 별 신통한 수가 없다."
  5. 그러니 생각이 깊은 어르신네들, 제 말을 들어보시오. 하느님은 결코 불의를 행하지 아니하십니다. 전능하신 분께서는 결코 악한 일을 하지 아니하십니다.
  1. "For He pays a man according to his work, And makes him find it according to his way.
  2. "Surely, God will not act wickedly, And the Almighty will not pervert justice.
  3. "Who gave Him authority over the earth? And who has laid on Him the whole world?
  4. "If He should determine to do so, If He should gather to Himself His spirit and His breath,
  5. All flesh would perish together, And man would return to dust.
  1. 누구에게나 행한 대로 갚으시고 살아온 대로 대하십니다.
  2. 하느님께서 불의를 행하시다니요. 전능하신 분께서 의를 꺾으시다니요.
  3. 누군가가 그의 손에 땅의 전권을 맡겼다는 말입니까? 누군가가 그에게 온 지구를 넘겼다는 말입니까?
  4. 그가 콧김을 마시고 입김을 들이쉬시면
  5. 만물은 일시에 숨이 멎고 사람은 티끌로 돌아가고 말 것입니다.
  1. "But if you have understanding, hear this; Listen to the sound of my words.
  2. "Shall one who hates justice rule? And will you condemn the righteous mighty One,
  3. Who says to a king, 'Worthless one,' To nobles, 'Wicked ones';
  4. Who shows no partiality to princes Nor regards the rich above the poor, For they all are the work of His hands?
  5. "In a moment they die, and at midnight People are shaken and pass away, And the mighty are taken away without a hand.
  1. 그러니 조금이라도 지각이 있거든 당신은 이 말을 들으시오. 내 말소리에 귀를 기울이시오.
  2. 누리의 지배자가 공평을 싫어하고 정의로운 용자가 불의를 좋아한다니, 그 무슨 말이오?
  3. 임금에게 "너는 인간 폐물이다." 양반에게 "너는 악당이다." 하고 선포해 버리실 수 있고
  4. 고관들이라고 해서 특혜를 베풀어주시거나 귀족이라고 해서 영세민보다 우대하시는 일이 없는 분, 모두를 손수 지으신 그분에게 말이오.
  5. 모든 것이 삽시간에 죽어갈 것들, 한밤중에 숨질 것들이 아니오? 하느님께서 건드리시기만 하여도 귀족이라는 자들은 달아나고 장사들도 감쪽같이 사라질 것이오.
  1. "For His eyes are upon the ways of a man, And He sees all his steps.
  2. "There is no darkness or deep shadow Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
  3. "For He does not need to consider a man further, That he should go before God in judgment.
  4. "He breaks in pieces mighty men without inquiry, And sets others in their place.
  5. "Therefore He knows their works, And He overthrows them in the night, And they are crushed.
  1. 그의 눈이 사람의 발길을 노려보시고 사람의 걸음을 낱낱이 살피시는데
  2. 어떤 흑암, 어떤 어둠이 나쁜 짓 하는 자들을 숨겨주겠소?
  3. 하느님께서는 재판정에 출두할 시간을 사람에게 특별히 일러주지도 않으시는 분,
  4. 사실을 물어볼 것도 없이 힘센 자들을 꺾으시고 그 자리에 딴사람을 앉히시는 분이오.
  5. 이미 그들의 행실을 샅샅이 살피셨기에 한밤중에 뒤엎어 박살내시는 것이오.
  1. "He strikes them like the wicked In a public place,
  2. Because they turned aside from following Him, And had no regard for any of His ways;
  3. So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him, And that He might hear the cry of the afflicted--
  4. When He keeps quiet, who then can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can behold Him, That is, in regard to both nation and man?--
  5. So that godless men would not rule Nor be snares of the people.
  1. 만민이 보는 데서 불의한 자들을 때려눕히시는 분,
  2. 그들이 하느님을 따르기는커녕 오히려 거역하며 그가 지시하시는 길은 아랑곳하지도 않으니 어찌 그렇게 되지 않겠소?
  3. 이렇게 하여 가난한 자의 아우성 소리가 그에게 다다르고 천더기들의 울부짖음이 그의 귀를 울리는 것,
  4. 그가 입을 열지 않으신다고 누가 시비를 하며 그가 얼굴을 내놓지 않으신다고 누가 비난하겠소? 그가 민족과 개인을 감시하면서도
  5. 불경스런 자를 백성의 통치자로 세우셨다면 그것은 사람들의 마음이 비뚤어졌기 때문이 아니겠소?
  1. "For has anyone said to God, 'I have borne chastisement; I will not offend anymore;
  2. Teach me what I do not see; If I have done iniquity, I will not do it again'?
  3. "Shall He recompense on your terms, because you have rejected it? For you must choose, and not I; Therefore declare what you know.
  4. "Men of understanding will say to me, And a wise man who hears me,
  5. 'Job speaks without knowledge, And his words are without wisdom.
  1. 그런 사람치고 누가 하느님께 자백하여 이렇게 말하겠소? "실수를 했다면, 다시는 그러지 않겠습니다.
  2. 분명히 가르쳐주십시오. 잘못했다면 다시는 그런 일을 하지 않겠습니다."
  3. 하느님의 판결을 당신이 불복한다고 하여 그가 당신 생각을 따라 보응하실 줄 아시오? 이 일은 당신이 알아서 할 일, 내가 어찌 하겠소? 그러니 당신의 소견을 어디 말해 보시오.
  4. 생각이 깊은 어른들은 이렇게 말하였소. 내 말을 듣고 있는 지혜 있는 어른들은 이렇게 말하였소.
  5. "욥의 말은 모두 무식한 소리, 그의 말은 모두 터무니없는 소리,
  1. 'Job ought to be tried to the limit, Because he answers like wicked men.
  2. 'For he adds rebellion to his sin; He claps his hands among us, And multiplies his words against God.'"
  1. 욥은 철저하게 조사를 받아야 한다. 허풍선이에게서나 들을 대답밖에 못하는 사람,
  2. 잘못을 저지르고도 거역하기까지 하며 우리에게 주먹을 휘두르고 하느님께 마구 입을 놀리는 사람이다."
 
 
  1. Then Elihu continued and said,
  2. "Do you think this is according to justice? Do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's'?
  3. "For you say, 'What advantage will it be to You? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?'
  4. "I will answer you, And your friends with you.
  5. "Look at the heavens and see; And behold the clouds--they are higher than you.
  1. 엘리후가 말을 계속하였다.
  2. 당신은 당신이 어디까지나 떳떳하다고 생각하시오? 하느님 앞에서도 죄가 없다는 말씀이오?
  3. "나 죄가 없대야 별 신통할 것도 없는데 무슨 시원한 수라도 있으랴?" 하고 끝끝내 주장하겠소?
  4. 내 말을 들어보시오. 함께 있는 친구분들도 들어보십시오.
  5. 눈을 돌려 하늘을 올려다 보시오. 높이 떠 있는 저 구름을 쳐다보시오.
  1. "If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against Him? And if your transgressions are many, what do you do to Him?
  2. "If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, Or what does He receive from your hand?
  3. "Your wickedness is for a man like yourself, And your righteousness is for a son of man.
  4. "Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.
  5. "But no one says, 'Where is God my Maker, Who gives songs in the night,
  1. 당신이 실수했다고 하여 그것이 하느님께 손해라도 될 것이란 말이오? 당신의 죄가 아무리 많다고 하여도 하느님께는 그것이 대단한 일도 아니오.
  2. 당신이 죄없다고 한들 그것이 하느님께 무슨 덕이 되겠소? 하느님께서 당신에게 무슨 혜택이라도 바라신단 말이오?
  3. 당신이 나쁘다면 그 피해는 당신 같은 사람이 입을 뿐이요 당신이 옳게 살았다 하여도 그 혜택은 인간에게나 미칠 뿐,
  4. 이건 너무 억울하다고 아우성치고 억센 손아귀에서 빼내달라고 소리치면서
  5. 억지를 부려 이렇게 말하는 사람이 어디 있단 말이오? "나를 만드신 하느님이 어디 계시냐? 밤 사이에 힘을 회복해 주시고
  1. Who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth And makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?'
  2. "There they cry out, but He does not answer Because of the pride of evil men.
  3. "Surely God will not listen to an empty cry, Nor will the Almighty regard it.
  4. "How much less when you say you do not behold Him, The case is before Him, and you must wait for Him!
  5. "And now, because He has not visited in His anger, Nor has He acknowledged transgression well,
  1. 들짐승들이 모르는 것을 우리에게 가르치시고 공중의 새들이 모르는 지혜를 깨치게 하신다는 그 하느님이 어디 계시냐?"
  2. 악당들이 으스대는 것이 못마땅하시어 그들이 아무리 외쳐도 하느님께서는 대답도 않으시지만,
  3. 하느님께서 듣지 못하신다는 것은 허튼 소리, 전능하신 분께서 보지 못하신다는 것은 거짓말이오.
  4. 당신은 하느님께서 보지 않으신다고 해서 엄청난 주장을 펴지만 이미 당신 사건은 그의 앞에 놓여 있다오. 그러니 기다리시오.
  5. 그런데 그의 진노가 터지지 않는 것을 보니 그는 사람의 죄를 모르시는 것이라고
  1. So Job opens his mouth emptily; He multiplies words without knowledge."
  1. 욥이 헛된 말을 내뱉고 지각 없는 말이나 늘어놓고 있으니, 되겠습니까?
 
 
  1. Then Elihu continued and said,
  2. "Wait for me a little, and I will show you That there is yet more to be said in God's behalf.
  3. "I will fetch my knowledge from afar, And I will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
  4. "For truly my words are not false; One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.
  5. "Behold, God is mighty but does not despise any; He is mighty in strength of understanding.
  1. 엘리후가 말을 계속하였다.
  2. 침착하시오. 내가 깨우쳐주는 말을 좀 들어보시오. 하느님 편을 들어 말 좀 더 해야겠소.
  3. 불원천리하고 찾아다니며 배운 지식으로 미루어보아 나는 아무래도 나를 지으신 이가 옳다고 해야겠소.
  4. 내가 하는 말은 결코 빈말이 아니오. 당신 옆에 서 있는 이 사람도 알 만큼 알아본 사람이오.
  5. 못하실 일 없으신 하느님께서는 흠없는 사람을 물리치지 아니하시며
  1. "He does not keep the wicked alive, But gives justice to the afflicted.
  2. "He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous; But with kings on the throne He has seated them forever, and they are exalted.
  3. "And if they are bound in fetters, And are caught in the cords of affliction,
  4. Then He declares to them their work And their transgressions, that they have magnified themselves.
  5. "He opens their ear to instruction, And commands that they return from evil.
  1. 불의한 사람을 살려두지 아니하시고 억눌린 사람의 권리를 반드시 세워주신다오.
  2. 바르게 사는 사람을 외면하지 아니하시고 그들을 언제나 왕들과 같은 자리에 앉혀 영광을 누리게 하신다오.
  3. 사슬에 묶이든가 고랑을 차든가 하여 고생길에라도 들어서면
  4. 하느님께서는 그들이 한 일을 일깨워주시어 제 잘난 멋으로 거역했던 잘못을 깨닫게 하신다오.
  5. 귀를 열어주시어 타이르는 소리를 듣게 하시고 그릇된 길에서 발길을 돌리라고 속삭여주신다오.
  1. "If they hear and serve Him, They will end their days in prosperity And their years in pleasures.
  2. "But if they do not hear, they shall perish by the sword And they will die without knowledge.
  3. "But the godless in heart lay up anger; They do not cry for help when He binds them.
  4. "They die in youth, And their life perishes among the cult prostitutes.
  5. "He delivers the afflicted in their affliction, And opens their ear in time of oppression.
  1. 이 속삭임을 귀담아듣고 바로 살고자 애만 쓰면 그들의 나날은 행복으로 뿌듯하고 즐거움이 해마다 철철 넘칠 것이오.
  2. 만일 그 속삭임에 귀를 막는다면 날벼락을 맞아 죽거나 쥐도 새도 모르게 죽을 것이오.
  3. 하느님 무서운 줄 모르는 사람은 고랑을 차고도 하느님께 부르짖기는커녕 화만 내며
  4. 색에 빠진 자처럼 근력이 지레 말라, 다 살지도 못하고 죽어가지요.
  5. 그러나 하느님께서는 고생을 시켜가며 사람을 건지신다오. 고난 속에서 사람의 귀가 열리게 해주신다오.
  1. "Then indeed, He enticed you from the mouth of distress, Instead of it, a broad place with no constraint; And that which was set on your table was full of fatness.
  2. "But you were full of judgment on the wicked; Judgment and justice take hold of you.
  3. "Beware that wrath does not entice you to scoffing; And do not let the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.
  4. "Will your riches keep you from distress, Or all the forces of your strength?
  5. "Do not long for the night, When people vanish in their place.
  1. 당신이 곤경에 빠질세라 하느님께서는 손짓하여 건져내시고 앞길을 환하게 열어주시며 상다리 부러지게 진수성찬을 차려주셨소.
  2. 그런데 당신은 불의한 무리를 재판하지 않았으니, 어찌 법으로 다스리는 재판을 벗어나겠소?
  3. 이제 바짝 정신을 차리시오. 돈에 눈이 흐려져서는 안 되오. 뇌물을 듬뿍 바친다고 해서 마음이 흔들려도 안 되오.
  4. 돈을 물쓰듯하여 죄를 벗을 수도 없고 죽을 힘을 다한다고 해서 되는 일도 아니오.
  5. 밤을 그리며 해가 지기를 기다리지 마시오. 밤이란 사람들이 귀신도 모르게 사라지는 때라오.
  1. "Be careful, do not turn to evil, For you have preferred this to affliction.
  2. "Behold, God is exalted in His power; Who is a teacher like Him?
  3. "Who has appointed Him His way, And who has said, 'You have done wrong'?
  4. "Remember that you should exalt His work, Of which men have sung.
  5. "All men have seen it; Man beholds from afar.
  1. 부디 나쁜 일에 마음을 쏟지 마시오. 당신이 지금 겪는 시련은 바로 그 때문이 아니오?
  2. 여보시오, 하느님께서 하시는 일은 아무도 따를 수 없소. 어떤 스승이 그 곁에라도 설 수 있겠소?
  3. 그에게 이래라 저래라 할 사람이 어디 있으며 "당신 한 일은 잘못되었소." 하고 따질 사람이 어디 있겠소?
  4. 모두들 그를 찬양하는데 당신도 명심하여 그의 업적을 칭송하시오.
  5. 그것을 보지 못한 사람은 없소. 아무리 멀리서도 사람이면 볼 수 있지요.
  1. "Behold, God is exalted, and we do not know Him; The number of His years is unsearchable.
  2. "For He draws up the drops of water, They distill rain from the mist,
  3. Which the clouds pour down, They drip upon man abundantly.
  4. "Can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds, The thundering of His pavilion?
  5. "Behold, He spreads His lightning about Him, And He covers the depths of the sea.
  1. 하느님께서 정말 얼마나 위대하신지, 그 누가 알며 그의 햇수가 얼마인지 그 누가 헤아릴 수 있겠소?
  2. 물을 끌어올리시어 안개로 만드시고 안개에서 다시 비를 방울방울 걸러내시며
  3. 구름으로 싸두셨다가 터뜨리시어 땅에 소나기를 쏟으신다오.
  4. 그리고 구름을 펼치시면서 당신 처소에서 소리를 지르시면 그것이 무슨 소리인지 누가 깨닫겠소?
  5. 안개를 펴시어 당신을 감싸시고 산마루들을 포근히 덮으시는 분,
  1. "For by these He judges peoples; He gives food in abundance.
  2. "He covers His hands with the lightning, And commands it to strike the mark.
  3. "Its noise declares His presence; The cattle also, concerning what is coming up.
  1. 이렇듯이 사람들을 보살피시고 푸짐하게 배불려 주신다오.
  2. 두 손에 빛을 움켜잡으셨다가 과녁을 향하여 번쩍 내쏘실 때,
  3. 천둥은 하느님께서 진노하시어 내시는 고함 소리, 죄악이 역겨우시어 터뜨리시는 분노가 아니겠소?
