- Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?
- Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.
- For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
- But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
- Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.

- 너희는 남자도 해산을 하는지 물어 보아라. 어찌하여 남자들이 모조리 해산하는 여인처럼 배를 손으로 움켜 잡고 있으며, 모두 얼굴빛이 창백하게 변하였느냐?
- 슬프다, 그 날이여! 무엇과도 비교할 수 없는 무서운 날이다. 야곱이 당하는 환난의 때이다. 그러나 야곱은 구원을 받을 것이다.
- 나 만군의 주가 하는 말이다. 그 날이 오면, 내가 그의 목에서 멍에를 꺾고, 그의 사슬을 끊어서, 이방 사람들이 그를 더 이상 종으로 부리지 못하게 하겠다.
- 그러면 그들이 나 주를 자기들의 하나님으로 섬기며, 내가 그들에게 일으켜 줄 다윗의 자손을 자기들의 왕으로 섬길 것이다."
- "나의 종 야곱아, 너는 두려워하지 말아라. 이스라엘아, 너는 무서워하지 말아라. 나 주의 말이다. 보아라, 내가 너를 먼 곳에서 구원하여 데려오고, 포로로 잡혀 있는 땅에서 너의 자손을 구원할 것이니, 야곱이 고향으로 돌아와서 평안하고 안정되게 살 것이며, 아무런 위협도 받지 않고 살 것이다.
