- Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
- Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
- We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing.
- Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.
- All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.

- 나 바울로와 실바노와 디모테오는 하느님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도를 믿는 데살로니카 교회 여러분에게 이 편지를 씁니다.
- 하느님 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도께서 은총과 평화를 여러분에게 내려주시기를 빕니다.
- 교우 여러분, 우리는 여러분을 생각할 때에 언제나 하느님께 감사를 드릴 수밖에 없고 또 그렇게 하는 것이 당연한 일입니다. 그것은 여러분의 믿음이 놀랍게 자라고 또 여러분 사이의 사랑이 더욱더 두터워지고 있기 때문입니다.
- 여러분이 모든 박해와 환난을 당하면서도 잘 견디어내며 믿음을 지켜온 것에 대해서 우리는 하느님의 여러 교회에서 여러분을 자랑합니다.
- 여러분은 지금 하느님 나라를 위하여 고통을 당하고 있습니다. 그러나 여러분이 장차 그 나라를 차지할 자격을 얻게 되겠으니 결국 하느님의 심판이 공정하다는 것이 확실합니다.

- God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you
- and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.
- He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
- They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power
- on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

- 하느님은 공정하셔서 여러분을 괴롭히는 자들에게 괴로움을 당하게 하시고
- 괴로움을 당하는 여러분에게는 우리와 함께 안식을 누리게 해주실 것입니다. 이 일은 주 예수께서 당신의 능력 있는 천사들과 함께 하늘로부터 나타나실 때에 이루어질 것입니다.
- 주께서는 불꽃 가운데 나타나셔서 하느님을 거부한 자들과 우리 주 예수의 복음을 받아들이지 않은 자들을 처벌하실 것입니다.
- 그들은 주님 앞에서 쫓겨나 영원히 멸망하는 벌을 받고 주님의 영광스러운 능력을 보지 못하게 될 것입니다.
- 그날에는 주님께서 오셔서 당신의 성도들에게 영광을 받으시고 모든 믿는 사람들에게 경탄의 대상이 되실 것입니다. 여러분도 우리의 증언을 믿었으니 그 성도들의 대열에 끼이게 될 것입니다.

- With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.
- We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

- 우리는 언제나 여러분을 위해서 기도하면서 우리 하느님께서 여러분을 당신의 부르심에 적합하게 해주시기를 빌며 선을 행하려는 여러분의 모든 의향과 여러분의 믿음의 행실을 당신의 능력으로 완성해 주시기를 빕니다.
- 이렇게 해서 우리 하느님과 주 예수 그리스도의 은총으로 우리 주 예수의 이름이 여러분에게서 영광을 받고 여러분도 주님에게서 영광을 받게 될 것입니다.
