- The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss.
- When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss.
- And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth.
- They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
- They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man.

- 다섯째 천사가 나팔을 불었습니다. 그 때 나는 하늘로부터 땅에 떨어진 별 하나를 보았습니다. 그 별은 끝없이 깊은 지옥 구덩이를 여는 열쇠를 받았습니다.
- 그 별이 그 지옥 구덩이를 열자 거기에서부터 큰 용광로에서 내뿜는 것과 같은 연기가 올라와 공중을 뒤덮어서 햇빛을 어둡게 하였습니다.
- 그 연기 속에서 메뚜기들이 나와 땅에 퍼졌습니다. 그 메뚜기들에게는 땅에 있는 전갈들이 가진 것과 같은 권세가 주어졌습니다.
- 그것들은 땅에 있는 풀이나 푸성귀나 나무는 하나도 해쳐서는 안 되고 다만 하느님의 도장이 이마에 찍히지 않은 사람들만 해치라는 명령을 받았습니다.
- 그러나 그 사람들을 죽이지는 말고 다섯 달 동안 괴롭히기만 하라는 명령이었습니다. 그 메뚜기들이 주는 고통은 마치 전갈이 사람을 쏠 때에 주는 고통과 같은 것이었습니다.

- During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.
- The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.
- Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth.
- They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.
- They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.

- 그 다섯 달 동안에는 그 사람들이 아무리 죽으려고 애써도 죽을 수가 없고 죽기를 바라더라도 죽음이 그들을 피해 달아날 것입니다.
- 그 메뚜기들의 모양은 전투 준비가 갖추어진 말 같았으며 머리에는 금관 같은 것을 썼고 얼굴은 사람의 얼굴과 같았습니다.
- 그것들의 머리털은 여자의 머리털 같았고 이빨은 사자의 이빨과 같았습니다.
- 그리고 쇠로 만든 가슴 방패와 같은 것으로 가슴을 쌌고 그것들의 날개 소리는 전쟁터로 달려가는 수많은 전투 마차 소리 같았습니다.
- 그것들은 전갈의 꼬리와 같은 꼬리를 가졌으며 그 꼬리에는 가시가 돋혀 있었습니다. 그것들은 그 꼬리로 다섯 달 동안 사람들을 해칠 수 있는 권한이 있었습니다.

- They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.
- The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.
- The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God.
- It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."
- And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

- 그것들은 지옥의 악신을 왕으로 모셨습니다. 그 이름은 히브리 말로는 아바돈이고 그리스 말로는 아폴리욘이니 곧 파괴자라는 뜻입니다.
- 이렇게 재난이 또 하나 지나갔습니다. 그러나 아직도 앞으로 두 가지 재난이 더 닥쳐올 것입니다.
- 여섯째 천사가 나팔을 불었습니다. 그러자 나는 하느님 앞에 있는 금제단의 네 모퉁이에 달린 뿔에서 나오는 한 음성을 들었습니다.
- 그것은 나팔을 가진 여섯째 천사에게 "큰 유프라테스 강에 매여 있는 네 천사를 풀어놓아라." 하는 명령이었습니다.
- 그래서 네 천사는 풀려났습니다. 그 천사들은 정해진 연 월 일 시에 사람들의 삼분의 일을 죽이려고 준비를 갖추고 있었습니다.

- The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number.
- The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur.
- A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.
- The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
- The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood--idols that cannot see or hear or walk.

- 내가 들은 바로는 그 천사들이 거느리는 기마병의 수효가 이억이나 된다는 것입니다.
- 그 말들과 그 위에 탄 자들의 모습이 내 눈에 비치었는데 그들은 불빛 같은 붉은 색이나 보라색이나 유황색의 가슴 방패를 붙였고 말들은 그 머리가 사자의 머리 같았으며, 그 입에서는 불과 연기와 유황을 내뿜고 있었습니다.
- 그 말들의 입에서 뿜어내는 불과 연기와 유황, 이 세 가지 재앙 때문에 사람들의 삼분의 일이 죽고 말았습니다.
- 그 말들의 힘의 근원은 그들의 입과 꼬리에 있었습니다. 그 꼬리는 뱀과 같으며 머리가 달려서 그 머리로 사람을 해칩니다.
- 이런 재앙에 죽지 않고 살아 남은 사람들도 자기들이 지은 죄를 뉘우치지 않고 오히려 끊임없이 마귀들을 경배하고 금이나 은이나 구리나 돌이나 나무로 만든 우상들에게 절을 했습니다. 보지도 못하고 듣지도 못하고 걸어다니지도 못하는 우상들을 경배한 것입니다.

- Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

- 그들은 또한 자기들이 행한 살인과 마술과 음행과 도둑질에 대해서도 뉘우치지 않았습니다.
