역대상 19:1-21:30

 다윗은 암몬과 아람 연합군과의 전쟁에서 승리하고, 3차에 걸친 블레셋과의 전쟁에서도 대승을 거두었다. 그러자 승리에 도취한 다윗은 사단의 유혹에 넘어가 과시욕에 기반한 인구 조사를 행하여 온역으로 무려 7만 명이 희생되는 하나님의 징계를 받았다.
  
  다윗의 후기 승전(19:1-20:8)    
 
  1. In the course of time, Nahash king of the Ammonites died, and his son succeeded him as king.
  2. David thought, "I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me." So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David's men came to Hanun in the land of the Ammonites to express sympathy to him,
  3. the Ammonite nobles said to Hanun, "Do you think David is honoring your father by sending men to you to express sympathy? Haven't his men come to you to explore and spy out the country and overthrow it?"
  4. So Hanun seized David's men, shaved them, cut off their garments in the middle at the buttocks, and sent them away.
  5. When someone came and told David about the men, he sent messengers to meet them, for they were greatly humiliated. The king said, "Stay at Jericho till your beards have grown, and then come back."
  1. 그 뒤에 암몬 사람의 왕 나하스가 죽고, 그 아들이 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.
  2. 다윗은 "하눈의 아버지 나하스가 나에게 은혜를 베풀었으니, 나도 나하스의 아들 하눈에게 은혜를 베풀어야겠다" 하고 말하며, 신하들을 보내어, 고인에게 조의를 표하게 하였다. 그래서 다윗의 신하들이 하눈을 조문하러 암몬 사람의 땅에 이르렀다.
  3. 그러나 암몬 사람의 대신들이 하눈에게 말하였다. "다윗이 임금님께 조문 사절을 보낸 것이 임금님의 부친을 존경하기 때문이라고 생각하십니까? 오히려 이 땅을 두루 살펴서 함락시키려고, 그의 신하들이 정탐하러 온 것이 아닙니까?"
  4. 그래서 하눈은 다윗의 신하들을 붙잡아, 그들의 수염을 깎고, 입은 옷 가운데를 도려내어, 양쪽 엉덩이가 드러나게 해서 돌려보냈다.
  5. 조문 사절이 그 곳을 떠나자, 사람들이, 조문 사절이 당한 일을 다윗에게 알렸다. 조문 사절이 너무나도 수치스러운 일을 당하였으므로, 다윗 왕은 사람을 보내어 그들을 맞으며, 수염이 다시 자랄 때까지 여리고에 머물러 있다가, 수염이 다 자란 다음에 돌아오라고 하였다.
  1. When the Ammonites realized that they had become a stench in David's nostrils, Hanun and the Ammonites sent a thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and charioteers from Aram Naharaim, Aram Maacah and Zobah.
  2. They hired thirty-two thousand chariots and charioteers, as well as the king of Maacah with his troops, who came and camped near Medeba, while the Ammonites were mustered from their towns and moved out for battle.
  3. On hearing this, David sent Joab out with the entire army of fighting men.
  4. The Ammonites came out and drew up in battle formation at the entrance to their city, while the kings who had come were by themselves in the open country.
  5. Joab saw that there were battle lines in front of him and behind him; so he selected some of the best troops in Israel and deployed them against the Arameans.
  1. 암몬 사람들은 자기들이 다윗에게 미움받을 짓을 한 것을 알았다. 하눈과 암몬 사람들은 나하라임의 시리아 사람과 마아가의 시리아 사람과 소바에게서 병거와 기마병을 고용하려고, 그들에게 은 천 달란트를 보냈다.

  1. He put the rest of the men under the command of Abishai his brother, and they were deployed against the Ammonites.
  2. Joab said, "If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to rescue me; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will rescue you.
  3. Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight."
  4. Then Joab and the troops with him advanced to fight the Arameans, and they fled before him.
  5. When the Ammonites saw that the Arameans were fleeing, they too fled before his brother Abishai and went inside the city. So Joab went back to Jerusalem.
  1. 남은 병력은 자기의 아우 아비새에게 맡겨, 암몬 군대와 싸우도록 전열을 갖추게 하고서,

  1. After the Arameans saw that they had been routed by Israel, they sent messengers and had Arameans brought from beyond the River, with Shophach the commander of Hadadezer's army leading them.
  2. When David was told of this, he gathered all Israel and crossed the Jordan; he advanced against them and formed his battle lines opposite them. David formed his lines to meet the Arameans in battle, and they fought against him.
  3. But they fled before Israel, and David killed seven thousand of their charioteers and forty thousand of their foot soldiers. He also killed Shophach the commander of their army.
  4. When the vassals of Hadadezer saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were not willing to help the Ammonites anymore.
  1. 시리아 군인들은, 자기들이 이스라엘에게 패한 것을 알고서, 전령을 보내어 유프라테스 강 동쪽에 있는 시리아 군대를 동원시켰다. 하닷에셀의 부하 소박 사령관이 그들을 지휘하였다.

  1. In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, Joab led out the armed forces. He laid waste the land of the Ammonites and went to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. Joab attacked Rabbah and left it in ruins.
  2. David took the crown from the head of their king --its weight was found to be a talent of gold, and it was set with precious stones--and it was placed on David's head. He took a great quantity of plunder from the city
  3. and brought out the people who were there, consigning them to labor with saws and with iron picks and axes. David did this to all the Ammonite towns. Then David and his entire army returned to Jerusalem.
  4. In the course of time, war broke out with the Philistines, at Gezer. At that time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, one of the descendants of the Rephaites, and the Philistines were subjugated.
  5. In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.
  1. 그 다음해 봄에, 왕들이 출전하는 때가 되자, 요압이 병력을 이끌고 나가서 암몬 사람의 땅을 무찌르고, 더 가서 랍바를 포위하였다. 그러나 다윗은 예루살렘에 머물러 있었다. 요압이 랍바를 쳐서 함락시켰다.

  3. 그 도성에 사는 백성도 끌어다가, 톱질과 곡괭이질과 도끼질을 시켰다. 다윗은 암몬 사람의 모든 성읍에 이와 똑같이 한 뒤에, 모든 군인을 거느리고 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.
  4. 그 뒤에 게셀에서 블레셋 사람과 전쟁이 벌어졌다. 그 때에 후사 사람 십브개가 거인족의 자손 십배를 쳐죽이자, 블레셋 사람이 항복하였다.
  5. 또 블레셋 사람과 전쟁이 벌어졌다. 야일의 아들 엘하난이 가드 사람 골리앗의 아우 라흐미를 죽였는데, 라흐미의 창 자루는 베틀 앞다리같이 굵었다.
  1. In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot--twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
  2. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.
  3. These were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.
  1. 또 가드에서 전쟁이 벌어졌을 때에, 거인이 하나 나타났는데, 그는 손가락 발가락이 각각 여섯 개씩 모두 스물넷이었다. 이 사람도 거인족의 자손 가운데 하나이다.
  2. 그가 이스라엘을 조롱하므로, 다윗의 형 시므아의 아들 요나단이 그를 쳐죽였다.
  3. 이들은 모두 가드에서 태어난 거인족의 자손인데, 다윗과 그 부하들에게 모두 죽었다.
 
  인구 조사(21:1-21:30)    
 
  1. Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel.
  2. So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops, "Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan. Then report back to me so that I may know how many there are."
  3. But Joab replied, "May the LORD multiply his troops a hundred times over. My lord the king, are they not all my lord's subjects? Why does my lord want to do this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?"
  4. The king's word, however, overruled Joab; so Joab left and went throughout Israel and then came back to Jerusalem.
  5. Joab reported the number of the fighting men to David: In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand men who could handle a sword, including four hundred and seventy thousand in Judah.
  1. 사탄이 이스라엘을 치려고 일어나서, 다윗을 부추겨, 이스라엘의 인구를 조사하게 하였다.
  2. 그래서 다윗은 요압과 군사령관들에게 지시하였다. "어서 브엘세바에서부터 단에 이르기까지, 이스라엘의 인구를 조사하여, 그들의 수를 나에게 알려 주시오."
  3. 그러자 요압이 말하였다. "주님께서 그의 백성을, 지금보다 백 배나 더 불어나게 하여 주시기를 원합니다. 높으신 임금님, 백성 모두가 다 임금님의 종들이 아닙니까? 그런데 어찌하여 임금님께서 이런 일을 명하십니까? 어찌하여 임금님께서는 이스라엘을 벌받게 하시려고 하십니까?"
  4. 그러나 요압은, 더 이상 왕을 설득시킬 수 없었으므로, 물러나와서 온 이스라엘을 두루 돌아다닌 다음에 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.
  5. 요압이 다윗에게 백성의 수를 보고하였다. 칼을 빼서 다룰 수 있는 사람이 온 이스라엘에는 백십만이 있고, 유다에는 사십칠만이 있었다.
  1. But Joab did not include Levi and Benjamin in the numbering, because the king's command was repulsive to him.
  2. This command was also evil in the sight of God; so he punished Israel.
  3. Then David said to God, "I have sinned greatly by doing this. Now, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing."
  4. The LORD said to Gad, David's seer,
  5. "Go and tell David, 'This is what the LORD says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.' "
  1. 그러나 요압은 왕의 명령을 못마땅하게 여겨, 레위와 베냐민은 이 조사에 포함시키지 않았다.
  2. 하나님께서 이 일을 악하게 보시고, 이스라엘을 치셨다.

  4. 주님께서 다윗의 선견자 갓에게 말씀하셨다.
  5. "너는 다윗에게 가서 전하여라. '나 주가 말한다. 내가 너에게 세 가지를 제안하겠으니, 너는 그 가운데서 하나를 택하여라. 그러면 내가 너에게 그대로 처리하겠다.'"
  1. So Gad went to David and said to him, "This is what the LORD says: 'Take your choice:
  2. three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies, with their swords overtaking you, or three days of the sword of the LORD -days of plague in the land, with the angel of the LORD ravaging every part of Israel.' Now then, decide how I should answer the one who sent me."
  3. David said to Gad, "I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men."
  4. So the LORD sent a plague on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell dead.
  5. And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and was grieved because of the calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, "Enough! Withdraw your hand." The angel of the LORD was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
  1. 갓이 다윗에게 가서 말하였다. "주님께서 말씀하십니다. '너는 선택하여라.
  2. 삼 년 동안 기근이 들게 할 것인지, 원수의 칼을 피하여 석 달 동안 쫓겨 다닐 것인지, 아니면 주님의 칼, 곧 전염병이 사흘 동안 이 땅에 퍼지게 하여, 주님의 천사가 이스라엘 온 지역을 멸하게 할 것인지를 선택하여라.' 이제 임금님께서는, 나를 임금님께 보내신 분에게 내가 무엇이라고 보고하면 좋을지, 결정하여 주십시오."
  3. 그러자 다윗이 갓에게 대답하였다. "괴롭기 그지없습니다. 그래도 주님은 자비가 많은 분이시니, 차라리 내가 그의 손에 벌을 받겠습니다. 사람의 손에 벌을 받고 싶지는 않습니다."
  4. 그리하여 주님께서 이스라엘에 전염병을 내리시니, 이스라엘 사람이 칠만 명이나 쓰러졌다.
  5. 하나님께서는 예루살렘을 멸망시키려고 천사를 보내셨다. 그러나 주님께서는, 천사가 예루살렘을 멸망시키는 것을 보시고서, 재앙 내리신 것을 뉘우치시고, 사정없이 죽이고 있는 그 천사에게 "그만하면 됐다. 이제 너의 손을 거두어라" 하고 명하셨다. 그 때에 주님의 천사는 여부스 사람 오르난의 타작 마당 곁에 서 있었다.
  1. David looked up and saw the angel of the LORD standing between heaven and earth, with a drawn sword in his hand extended over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell facedown.
  2. David said to God, "Was it not I who ordered the fighting men to be counted? I am the one who has sinned and done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? O LORD my God, let your hand fall upon me and my family, but do not let this plague remain on your people."
  3. Then the angel of the LORD ordered Gad to tell David to go up and build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
  4. So David went up in obedience to the word that Gad had spoken in the name of the LORD.
  5. While Araunah was threshing wheat, he turned and saw the angel; his four sons who were with him hid themselves.
  1. 다윗이 눈을 들어 보니, 주님의 천사가 하늘과 땅 사이에 서서, 칼을 빼어 손에 들고 예루살렘을 겨누고 있었다. 그래서 다윗은 장로들과 함께 굵은 베 옷을 입고, 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드렸다.
  2. 그 때에 다윗이 하나님께 아뢰었다. "이 백성의 인구를 조사하도록 지시한 사람은 바로 내가 아닙니까? 바로 내가 죄를 짓고 이런 엄청난 악을 저지른 사람입니다. 백성은 양 떼일 뿐입니다. 그들에게야 무슨 잘못이 있습니까? 주 나의 하나님! 나와 내 집안을 치시고, 제발 주님의 백성에게서는 전염병을 거두어 주십시오."
  3. 주님의 천사가 갓을 시켜, 다윗에게 이르기를 "여부스 사람 오르난의 타작 마당으로 올라가서 주님의 제단을 쌓아야 한다" 하였다.
  4. 다윗은, 갓이 주님의 이름으로 명령한 말씀을 따라서, 그 곳으로 올라갔다.
  5. 그 때에 오르난은 밀을 타작하고 있었다. 오르난은 뒤로 돌이키다가 천사를 보고, 그의 네 아들과 함께 숨었다.
  1. Then David approached, and when Araunah looked and saw him, he left the threshing floor and bowed down before David with his face to the ground.
  2. David said to him, "Let me have the site of your threshing floor so I can build an altar to the LORD, that the plague on the people may be stopped. Sell it to me at the full price."
  3. Araunah said to David, "Take it! Let my lord the king do whatever pleases him. Look, I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering. I will give all this."
  4. But King David replied to Araunah, "No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the LORD what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing."
  5. So David paid Araunah six hundred shekels of gold for the site.
  1. 그러나 다윗이 오르난에게 다가가자, 오르난이 바라보고 있다가 다윗인 것을 알아보고, 타작 마당에서 나와, 얼굴을 땅에 대고 다윗에게 절하였다.
  2. 다윗이 오르난에게 말하였다. "이 타작 마당을 나에게 파시오. 충분한 값을 지불하겠소. 내가 주님의 제단을 여기에 쌓으려 하오. 그러면 전염병이 백성에게서 그칠 것이오."
  3. 오르난이 다윗에게 말하였다. "임금님, 그냥 가지십시오. 높으신 임금님께서 좋게 여기시는 대로 하십시오. 보십시오, 제가, 소는 번제물로, 타작 기구는 땔감으로, 밀은 소제물로, 모두 드리겠습니다."
  4. 그러나 다윗 왕은 오르난에게 말하였다. "그렇게 해서는 안 되오. 내가 반드시 충분한 값을 내고 사겠소. 그리고 주님께 드릴 것인데, 내가 값을 내지도 않고, 그대의 물건을 그냥 가져 가는 일은 하지 않겠소. 또 거저 얻은 것으로 번제를 드리지도 않겠소."
  5. 그래서 다윗은 그 터 값으로 금 육백 세겔을 오르난에게 주고,
  1. David built an altar to the LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He called on the LORD, and the LORD answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.
  2. Then the LORD spoke to the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.
  3. At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there.
  4. The tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses had made in the desert, and the altar of burnt offering were at that time on the high place at Gibeon.
  5. But David could not go before it to inquire of God, because he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
  1. 거기에서 주님께 제단을 쌓아, 번제와 화목제를 드리고 주님께 아뢰었다. 그러자 주님께서는 하늘로부터 불을 번제단 위에 내려서 응답하셨다.
  2. 그리고 주님께서 천사에게 명하셔서, 그의 칼을 칼집에 꽂게 하셨다.
  3. 그 때에 다윗은, 주님께서 여부스 사람 오르난의 타작 마당에서 그에게 응답하여 주심을 보고, 거기에서 제사를 드렸다.
  4. 그 때에, 모세가 광야에서 만든 주님의 성막과 번제단이 기브온 산당에 있었으나,
  5. 다윗은 주님의 천사의 칼이 무서워, 그 앞으로 가서 하나님께 예배를 드릴 수 없었다.
