- After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
- There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.
- Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
- Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah."
- While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!"

- それから 六日たって， イエス は， ペテロ と ヤコブ とその 兄弟 ヨハネ だけを 連れて， 高い 山に 導いて 行かれた．
- そして 彼らの 目の 前で， 御姿が 變わり， 御顔は 太陽のように 輝き， 御衣は 光のように 白くなった．
- しかも， モ ― セ と エリヤ が 現われて イエス と 話し 合っているではないか．
- すると， ペテロ が 口出しして イエス に 言った． 「先生． 私たちがここにいることは， すばらしいことです． もし， およろしければ， 私が， ここに 三つの 幕屋を 造ります． あなたのために 一つ， モ ― セ のために 一つ， エリヤ のために 一つ． 」
- 彼がまだ 話している 間に， 見よ， 光り 輝く 雲がその 人¿を 包み， そして， 雲の 中から， 「これは， わたしの 愛する 子， わたしはこれを 喜ぶ． 彼の 言うことを 聞きなさい． 」という 聲がした．

- When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.
- But Jesus came and touched them. "Get up," he said. "Don't be afraid."
- When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
- As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, "Don't tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."
- The disciples asked him, "Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?"

- 弟子たちは， この 聲を 聞くと， ひれ 伏して 非常にこわがった．
- すると， イエス が 來られて， 彼らに 手を 觸れ， 「起きなさい． こわがることはない． 」と 言われた．
- それで， 彼らが 目を 上げて 見ると， だれもいなくて， ただ イエス おひとりだけであった．
- 彼らが 山を 降りるとき， イエス は 彼らに， 「人の 子が 死人の 中からよみがえるときまでは， いま 見た 幻をだれにも 話してはならない． 」と 命じられた．
- そこで， 弟子たちは， イエス に 尋ねて 言った． 「すると， 律法學者たちが， まず エリヤ が 來るはずだと 言っているのは， どうしてでしょうか． 」

- Jesus replied, "To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things.
- But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."
- Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

- イエス は 答えて 言われた． 「エリヤ が 來て， すべてのことを 立て 直すのです．
- しかし， わたしは 言います． エリヤ はもうすでに 來たのです． ところが 彼らは エリヤ を 認めようとせず， 彼に 對して 好き 勝手なことをしたのです． 人の 子もまた， 彼らから 同じように 苦しめられようとしています． 」
- そのとき， 弟子たちは， イエス が バプテスマ の ヨハネ のことを 言われたのだと 氣づいた．
