사사기 19:1-20:16

 에브라임 산지에 살던 한 레위인이 자신의 첩이 베냐민 지파의 비류들에게 윤간당하고 죽자 그 시체를 토막 내어 이스라엘 각처로 보냈다. 이 사건을 논의하기 위해 모인 이스라엘 총회는 베냐민 지파에게 비류들을 처벌하여 악을 제거할 것을 요구했으나 베냐민은 이를 거절했다.
  
  레위인의 첩 사건(19:1-19:30)    
 
  1. In those days Israel had no king. Now a Levite who lived in a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim took a concubine from Bethlehem in Judah.
  2. But she was unfaithful to him. She left him and went back to her father's house in Bethlehem, Judah. After she had been there four months,
  3. her husband went to her to persuade her to return. He had with him his servant and two donkeys. She took him into her father's house, and when her father saw him, he gladly welcomed him.
  4. His father-in-law, the girl's father, prevailed upon him to stay; so he remained with him three days, eating and drinking, and sleeping there.
  5. On the fourth day they got up early and he prepared to leave, but the girl's father said to his son-in-law, "Refresh yourself with something to eat; then you can go."
  1. イスラエル に 王がなかった 時代のこと， ひとりの レビ 人が， エフライム の 山地の 奧に 滯在していた． この 人は， そばめとして， ユダ の ベツレヘム からひとりの 女をめとった．
  2. ところが， そのそばめは 彼をきらって， 彼のところを 去り， ユダ の ベツレヘム の 自分の 父の 家に 行き， そこに 四か 月の 間いた．
  3. そこで， 彼女の 夫は， ねんごろに 話をして 彼女を 引き 戾すために， 若い 者と 一くびきのろばを 連れ， 彼女のあとを 追って 出かけた． 彼女が 夫を 自分の 父の 家に 連れてはいったとき， 娘の 父は 彼を 見て， 喜んで 迎えた．
  4. 娘の 父であるしゅうとが 引き 止めたので， 彼は， しゅうとといっしょに 三日間とどまった． こうして， 彼らは 食べたり 飮んだりして， 夜を 過ごした．
  5. 四日目になって 朝早く， 彼は 出かけようとして 立ち 上がった． すると， 娘の 父は ¿に 言った． 「少し 食事をして 元氣をつけ， そのあとで 出かけなさい． 」
  1. So the two of them sat down to eat and drink together. Afterward the girl's father said, "Please stay tonight and enjoy yourself."
  2. And when the man got up to go, his father-in-law persuaded him, so he stayed there that night.
  3. On the morning of the fifth day, when he rose to go, the girl's father said, "Refresh yourself. Wait till afternoon!" So the two of them ate together.
  4. Then when the man, with his concubine and his servant, got up to leave, his father-in-law, the girl's father, said, "Now look, it's almost evening. Spend the night here; the day is nearly over. Stay and enjoy yourself. Early tomorrow morning you can get up and be on your way home."
  5. But, unwilling to stay another night, the man left and went toward Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), with his two saddled donkeys and his concubine.
  1. それで， 彼らふたりは， すわって 共に 食べたり 飮んだりした． 娘の 父はその 人に 言った． 「どうぞ， もう 一晩泊まることにして， 樂しみなさい． 」
  2. その 人が 出かけようとして 立ち 上がると， しゅうとが 彼にしきりに 勸めたので， 彼はまたそこに 泊まって 一夜を 明かした．
  3. 五日目の 朝早く， 彼が 出かけようとすると， 娘の 父は 言った． 「どうぞ， 元氣をつけて， 日が 傾くまで， ゆっくりしていなさい． 」そこで， 彼らふたりは 食事をした．
  4. それから， その 人が 自分のそばめと， 若い 者を 連れて， 出かけようとすると， 娘の 父であるしゅうとは 彼に 言った． 「ご 覽なさい． もう 日が 暮れかかっています． どうぞ， もう 一晩お 泊まりなさい． もう 日も 傾いています． ここに 泊まって， 樂しみなさい． あすの 朝早く 旅立って， 家に 歸ればいいでしょう． 」
  5. その 人は 泊まりたくなかったので， 立ち 上がって 出て 行き， エブス すなわち エルサレム の 向かい 側にやって 來た． 鞍をつけた 一くびきのろばと 彼のそばめとが， いっしょだった．
  1. When they were near Jebus and the day was almost gone, the servant said to his master, "Come, let's stop at this city of the Jebusites and spend the night."
  2. His master replied, "No. We won't go into an alien city, whose people are not Israelites. We will go on to Gibeah."
  3. He added, "Come, let's try to reach Gibeah or Ramah and spend the night in one of those places."
  4. So they went on, and the sun set as they neared Gibeah in Benjamin.
  5. There they stopped to spend the night. They went and sat in the city square, but no one took them into his home for the night.
  1. 彼らが エブス の 近くに 來たとき， 日は 非常に 低くなっていた． それで， 若い 者は 主人に 言った． 「さあ， この エブス 人の 町に 寄り 道して， そこで 一夜を 明かしましょう． 」
  2. すると， 彼の 主人は 言った． 「私たちは， イスラエル 人ではない 外國人の 町には 立ち 寄らない． さあ， ギブア まで 進もう． 」
  3. それから， 彼は 若い 者に 言った． 「さあ， ギブア か ラマ のどちらかの 地に 着いて， そこで 一夜を 明かそう． 」
  4. こうして， 彼らは 進んで 行った． 彼らが ベニヤミン に 屬する ギブア の 近くに 來たとき， 日は 沈んだ．
  5. 彼らは ギブア に 行って 泊まろうとして， そこに 立ち 寄り， 町にはいって 行って， 廣場にすわった． だれも 彼らを 迎えて 家に 泊めてくれる 者がいなかったからである．
  1. That evening an old man from the hill country of Ephraim, who was living in Gibeah (the men of the place were Benjamites), came in from his work in the fields.
  2. When he looked and saw the traveler in the city square, the old man asked, "Where are you going? Where did you come from?"
  3. He answered, "We are on our way from Bethlehem in Judah to a remote area in the hill country of Ephraim where I live. I have been to Bethlehem in Judah and now I am going to the house of the LORD. No one has taken me into his house.
  4. We have both straw and fodder for our donkeys and bread and wine for ourselves your servants--me, your maidservant, and the young man with us. We don't need anything."
  5. "You are welcome at my house," the old man said. "Let me supply whatever you need. Only don't spend the night in the square."
  1. そこへ， 夕暮れになって 野ら 仕事から 歸ったひとりの 老人がやって 來た． この 人は エフライム の 山地の 人で， ギブア に 滯在していた． この 土地の 者たちは ベニヤミン 族であった．
  2. 目を 上げて， 町の 廣場にいる 旅人を 見たとき， この 老人は， 「どちらへおいでですか． どちらからおいでになったのですか． 」と 尋ねた．
  3. そこで， その 人は 彼に 言った． 「私たちは， ユダ の ベツレヘム から， エフライム の 山地の 奧まで 旅を 續けているのです． 私はその 奧地の 者です． ユダ の ベツレヘム まで 行って 來ました． 今， 主の 宮へ 歸る 途中ですが， だれも 私を 家に 迎えてくれる 者がありません．
  4. 私たちのろばのためには， わらも 飼葉もあり， また， 私と， 妻と， 私たちといっしょにいる 若い 者とのためには パン も 酒もあります． 足りないものは 何もありません． 」
  5. すると， この 老人は 言った． 「安心なさい． ただ， 足りないものはみな， 私に 任せて． ただ 廣場では 夜を 過ごさないでください． 」
  1. So he took him into his house and fed his donkeys. After they had washed their feet, they had something to eat and drink.
  2. While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him."
  3. The owner of the house went outside and said to them, "No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing.
  4. Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But to this man, don't do such a disgraceful thing."
  5. But the men would not listen to him. So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go.
  1. こうして 彼は， この 人を 自分の 家に 連れて 行き， ろばに， まぐさをやった． 彼らは 足を 洗って， 食べたり 飮んだりした．
  2. 彼らが 樂しんでいると， 町の 者で， よこしまな 者たちが， その 家を 取り 圍んで， 戶をたたき 續けた． そして 彼らは， その 家の 主人である 老人に 言った． 「あなたの 家に 來たあの 男を 引き 出せ． あの 男を 知りたい． 」
  3. そこで， 家の 主人であるその 人は 彼らのところに 出て 行って 言った． 「いけない． 兄弟たちよ． どうか 惡いことはしないでくれ． この 人が 私の 家にはいって 後に， そんな 恥ずべきことはしないでくれ．
  4. ここに 處女の 私の 娘と， あの 人のそばめがいる． 今， ふたりを 連れ 出すから， 彼らをはずかしめて， あなたがたの 好きなようにしなさい． あの 人には， そのような 恥ずべきことはしないでくれ． 」
  5. しかし， 人¿は 彼に 聞こうとしなかった． そこで， その 人は 自分のそばめをつかんで， 外の 彼らのところへ 出した． すると， 彼らは 彼女を 犯して， 夜通し， 朝まで 暴行を 加え， 夜が 明けかかるころ 彼女を 放した．
  1. At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight.
  2. When her master got up in the morning and opened the door of the house and stepped out to continue on his way, there lay his concubine, fallen in the doorway of the house, with her hands on the threshold.
  3. He said to her, "Get up; let's go." But there was no answer. Then the man put her on his donkey and set out for home.
  4. When he reached home, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, limb by limb, into twelve parts and sent them into all the areas of Israel.
  5. Everyone who saw it said, "Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Think about it! Consider it! Tell us what to do!"
  1. 夜明け 前に， その 女は 自分の 主人のいるその 人の 家の 戶口に 來て 倒れ， 明るくなるまでそこにいた．
  2. その 女の 主人は， 朝になって 起き， 家の 戶を 開いて， 旅に 出ようとして 外に 出た． 見ると， そこに 自分のそばめであるその 女が， 手を 敷居にかけて， 家の 入口に 倒れていた．
  3. それで， 彼はその 女に， 「立ちなさい． 行こう． 」と 言ったが， 何の 返事もなかった． それで， その 人は 彼女をろばに 乘せ， 立って 自分の 所へ 向かって 行った．
  4. 彼は 自分の 家に 着くと， 刀を 取り， 自分のそばめをつかんで， その 死體を 十二の 部分に 切り 分けて， イスラエル の 國中に 送った．
  5. それを 見た 者はみな 言った． 「イスラエル 人が エジプト の 地から 上って 來た 日から 今日まで， こんなことは 起こったこともなければ， 見たこともない． このことをよく 考えて， 相談をし， 意見を 述べよ． 」
 
  이스라엘의 결의(20:1-20:16)    
 
  1. Then all the Israelites from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead came out as one man and assembled before the LORD in Mizpah.
  2. The leaders of all the people of the tribes of Israel took their places in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand soldiers armed with swords.
  3. (The Benjamites heard that the Israelites had gone up to Mizpah.) Then the Israelites said, "Tell us how this awful thing happened."
  4. So the Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, said, "I and my concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to spend the night.
  5. During the night the men of Gibeah came after me and surrounded the house, intending to kill me. They raped my concubine, and she died.
  1. そこで， ダン から ベエル · シェバ ， および ギルアデ の 地に 至る イスラエル 人はみな， 出て 來て， その 會衆は， こぞって ミツパ の 主のところに 集まった．
  2. イスラエル の 全部族， 民全體のかしらたち， 四十万の 劍を 使う 步兵が 神の 民の 集まりに 出た．
  3. ·· ベニヤミン 族は， イスラエル 人が ミツパ に 上って 來たことを 聞いた． ·· イスラエル 人は， 「こんな 惡い 事がどうして 起こったのか， 話してください． 」と 言った．
  4. 殺された 女の 夫である レビ 人は 答えて 言った． 「私は， そばめといっしょに， ベニヤミン に 屬する ギブア に 行き， 一夜を 明かそうとしました．
  5. すると， ギブア の 者たちは 私を 襲い， 夜中に 私のいる 家を 取り 圍み， 私を 殺そうと 計りましたが， 彼らは 私のそばめに 暴行を 加えました． それで 彼女は 死にました．
  1. I took my concubine, cut her into pieces and sent one piece to each region of Israel's inheritance, because they committed this lewd and disgraceful act in Israel.
  2. Now, all you Israelites, speak up and give your verdict."
  3. All the people rose as one man, saying, "None of us will go home. No, not one of us will return to his house.
  4. But now this is what we'll do to Gibeah: We'll go up against it as the lot directs.
  5. We'll take ten men out of every hundred from all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred from a thousand, and a thousand from ten thousand, to get provisions for the army. Then, when the army arrives at Gibeah in Benjamin, it can give them what they deserve for all this vileness done in Israel."
  1. そこで 私は， そばめをつかみ， 彼女を 切り 分け， それを イスラエル の 相續地の 全地に 送りました． これは， 彼らが イスラエル の 中で， みだらな 恥ずべきことを 行なったからです．
  2. さあ， あなたがた イスラエル 人のすべてよ． 今ここで， 意見を 述べて， 相談してください． 」
  3. そこで， 民はみな， こぞって 立ち 上がって 言った． 「私たちは， だれも 自分の 天幕に 歸らない． だれも 自分の 家に 戾らない．
  4. 今， 私たちが ギブア に 對してしようとしていることはこうだ． くじを 引いて， 攻め 上ろう．
  5. 私たちは， イスラエル の 全部族について， 百人につき 十人， 千人につき 百人， 一万人につき 千人をとって， 民のための 糧食を 持って 行かせ， 民が ベニヤミン の ギブア に 行って， ベニヤミン が イスラエル でしたこのすべての 恥ずべき 行ないに 對して， 報復させよう． 」
  1. So all the men of Israel got together and united as one man against the city.
  2. The tribes of Israel sent men throughout the tribe of Benjamin, saying, "What about this awful crime that was committed among you?
  3. Now surrender those wicked men of Gibeah so that we may put them to death and purge the evil from Israel." But the Benjamites would not listen to their fellow Israelites.
  4. From their towns they came together at Gibeah to fight against the Israelites.
  5. At once the Benjamites mobilized twenty-six thousand swordsmen from their towns, in addition to seven hundred chosen men from those living in Gibeah.
  1. こうして， イスラエル 人はみな 團結し， こぞってその 町に 集まって 來た．
  2. それから， イスラエル の 諸部族は， ベニヤミン の 諸族のすべてに 人をやって 言わせた． 「あなたがたのうちに 起こったあの 惡い 事は， 何ということか．
  3. 今， ギブア にいるあのよこしまな 者たちを 渡せ． 彼らを 殺して， イスラエル から 惡を 除き 去ろう． 」 ベニヤミン 族は， 自分たちの 同族 イスラエル 人の 言うことに 聞き 從おうとしなかった．
  4. それどころか， ベニヤミン 族は 町¿から ギブア に 集まり， イスラエル 人との 戰いに 出て 行こうとした．
  5. その 日， ベニヤミン 族は， 町¿から 二万六千人の 劍を 使う 者を 召集した． そのほかに ギブア の 住民のうちから 七百人の 精銳を 召集した．
  1. Among all these soldiers there were seven hundred chosen men who were left-handed, each of whom could sling a stone at a hair and not miss.
  1. この 民全體のうちに， 左ききの 精銳が 七百人いた． 彼らはみな， 一本の 毛をねらって 石を 投げて， 失敗することがなかった．
