룻기

  본서는 사사 시대를 배경으로 기록되었으나, 그 시대의 타락상과는 대조적으로 아름다운 이야기를 들려 주고 있다. 룻은 이방 모압 여인이었지만, 이스라엘의 왕인 다윗의 조상이 되는 영예를 누린다. 이것은 하나님의 나라에 참여하는 것이 혈연에 의한 것이 아니라, 오직 믿음으로 말미암은 순종을 통하여 결정된다는 것을 보여 준다.

  젊은 과부 룻은 시어머니 나오미를 헌신적으로 봉양하며 시어머니가 섬기는 하나님을 믿는다. 이러한 룻에게 하나님께서는 새로운 남편 보아스를 주시고 그를 통해 아들 오벳을 얻게 하심으로써 다윗의 증조모가 되게 하신다.

 

 

룻기 1:1-2:23

 유다 베들레헴을 떠나 모압에 거하던 나오미는 남편과 두 아들이 죽자 고향으로 돌아갈 것을 결심하고 두 며느리 오르바와 룻에게 친정으로 갈 것을 권했다. 그러나 룻은 나오미를 따라 베들레헴으로 갔고, 그 곳에서 이삭을 줍던 룻은 근족인 보아스의 호의를 입게 되었다.
  
  나오미의 두 자부(1:1-1:22)    
 
  1. In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land, and a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab.
  2. The man's name was Elimelech, his wife's name Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.
  3. Now Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons.
  4. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years,
  5. both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.
  1. さばきつかさが 治めていたころ， この 地にききんがあった． それで， ユダ の ベツレヘム の 人が 妻とふたりの 息子を 連れて モアブ の 野へ 行き， そこに 滯在することにした．

  1. When she heard in Moab that the LORD had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, Naomi and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there.
  2. With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah.
  3. Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go back, each of you, to your mother's home. May the LORD show kindness to you, as you have shown to your dead and to me.
  4. May the LORD grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband." Then she kissed them and they wept aloud
  5. and said to her, "We will go back with you to your people."

  1. But Naomi said, "Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands?
  2. Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me--even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons-
  3. would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the LORD's hand has gone out against me!"
  4. At this they wept again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-by, but Ruth clung to her.
  5. "Look," said Naomi, "your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her."
  1. しかし ナオミ は 言った． 「歸りなさい． 娘たち． なぜ 私といっしょに 行こうとするのですか． あなたがたの 夫になるような 息子たちが， まだ， 私のお 腹にいるとでもいうのですか．
  2. 歸りなさい． 娘たち． さあ， 行きなさい． 私は 年をとって， もう 夫は 持てません． たとい 私が， 自分には 望みがあると 思って， 今晩でも 夫を 持ち， 息子たちを 産んだとしても，

  1. But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
  2. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me."
  3. When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
  4. So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, "Can this be Naomi?"
  5. "Don't call me Naomi, " she told them. "Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter.
  1. ルツ は 言った． 「あなたを 捨て， あなたから 別れて 歸るように， 私にしむけないでください． あなたの 行かれる 所へ 私も 行き， あなたの 住まれる 所に 私も 住みます． あなたの 民は 私の 民， あなたの 神は 私の 神です．

  4. それから， ふたりは 旅をして， ベツレヘム に 着いた． 彼女たちが ベツレヘム に 着くと， 町中がふたりのことで ¿ぎ 出し， 女たちは， 「まあ． ナオミ ではありませんか． 」と 言った．

  1. I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me."
  2. So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.
  1. 私は 滿ち 足りて 出て 行きましたが， 主は 私を 素手で 歸されました． なぜ 私を ナオミ と 呼ぶのですか． 主は 私を 卑しくし， 全能者が 私をつらいめに 會わせられましたのに． 」
  2. こうして， ナオミ は， 嫁の モアブ の 女 ルツ といっしょに， モアブ の 野から 歸って 來て， 大麥の 刈り 入れの 始まったころ， ベツレヘム に 着いた．
 
  룻과 보아스의 대면(2:1-2:23)    
 
  1. Now Naomi had a relative on her husband's side, from the clan of Elimelech, a man of standing, whose name was Boaz.
  2. And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, "Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor." Naomi said to her, "Go ahead, my daughter."
  3. So she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech.
  4. Just then Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters, "The LORD be with you!" "The LORD bless you!" they called back.
  5. Boaz asked the foreman of his harvesters, "Whose young woman is that?"
  1. ナオミ には， 夫の 親戚で， エリメレク の 一族に 屬するひとりの 有力者がいた． その 人の 名は ボアズ であった．
  2. モアブ の 女 ルツ は ナオミ に 言った． 「どうぞ， 畑に 行かせてください． 私に 親切にしてくださる 方のあとについて 落ち 穗を 拾い 集めたいのです． 」すると， ナオミ は 彼女に， 「娘よ． 行っておいで． 」と 言った．

  1. The foreman replied, "She is the Moabitess who came back from Moab with Naomi.
  2. She said, 'Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the harvesters.' She went into the field and has worked steadily from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter."
  3. So Boaz said to Ruth, "My daughter, listen to me. Don't go and glean in another field and don't go away from here. Stay here with my servant girls.
  4. Watch the field where the men are harvesting, and follow along after the girls. I have told the men not to touch you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water jars the men have filled."
  5. At this, she bowed down with her face to the ground. She exclaimed, "Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me--a foreigner?"
  1. 刈る 者たちの 世話をしている 若者は 答えて 言った． 「あれは， ナオミ といっしょに モアブ の 野から 歸って 來た モアブ の 娘です．
  2. 彼女は， 『どうぞ， 刈る 人たちのあとについて， 束の 間で， 落ち 穗を 拾い 集めさせてください． 』と 言い， ここに 來て， 朝から 今まで 家で 休みもせず， ずっと 立ち ¿いています． 」
  3. ボアズ は ルツ に 言った． 「娘さん． よく 聞きなさい． ほかの 畑に 落ち 穗を 拾いに 行ったり， ここから 出て 行ったりしてはいけません． 私のところの 若い 女たちのそばを 離れないで， ここにいなさい．
  4. 刈り 取っている 畑を 見つけて， あとについて 行きなさい． 私は 若者たちに， あなたのじゃまをしてはならないと， きつく 命じておきました． のどが 渴いたら， 水がめのところへ 行って， 若者たちの 汲んだのを 飮みなさい． 」
  5. 彼女は 顔を 伏せ， 地面にひれ 伏して 彼に 言った． 「私が 外國人であるのを 知りながら， どうして 親切にしてくださるのですか． 」
  1. Boaz replied, "I've been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband--how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before.
  2. May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."
  3. "May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord," she said. "You have given me comfort and have spoken kindly to your servant--though I do not have the standing of one of your servant girls."
  4. At mealtime Boaz said to her, "Come over here. Have some bread and dip it in the wine vinegar." When she sat down with the harvesters, he offered her some roasted grain. She ate all she wanted and had some left over.
  5. As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men, "Even if she gathers among the sheaves, don't embarrass her.
  1. ボアズ は 答えて 言った． 「あなたの 夫がなくなってから， あなたがしゅうとめにしたこと， それにあなたの 父母や 生まれた 國を 離れて， これまで 知らなかった 民のところに 來たことについて， 私はすっかり 話を 聞いています．

  1. Rather, pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don't rebuke her."
  2. So Ruth gleaned in the field until evening. Then she threshed the barley she had gathered, and it amounted to about an ephah.
  3. She carried it back to town, and her mother-in-law saw how much she had gathered. Ruth also brought out and gave her what she had left over after she had eaten enough.
  4. Her mother-in-law asked her, "Where did you glean today? Where did you work? Blessed be the man who took notice of you!" Then Ruth told her mother-in-law about the one at whose place she had been working. "The name of the man I worked with today is Boaz," she said.
  5. "The LORD bless him!" Naomi said to her daughter-in-law. "He has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead." She added, "That man is our close relative; he is one of our kinsman-redeemers."
  1. それだけでなく， あの 女のために， 束からわざと 穗を 拔き 落としておいて， 拾い 集めさせなさい． あの 女をしかってはいけない． 」
  2. こうして 彼女は， 夕方まで 畑で 落ち 穗を 拾い 集めた． 拾ったのを 打つと， 大麥が 一 エパ ほどあった．
  3. 彼女はそれを 持って 町に 行き， しゅうとめにその 拾い 集めたのを 見せ， また， 先に 十分食べてから 殘しておいたのを 取り 出して， 彼女に 與えた．
  4. しゅうとめは 彼女に 言った． 「きょう， どこで 落ち 穗を 拾い 集めたのですか． どこで ¿いたのですか． あなたに 目を 留めてくださった 方に 祝福がありますように． 」彼女はしゅうとめに 自分の ¿いてきた 所のことを 告げ， 「きょう， 私は ボアズ という 名の 人の 所で ¿きました． 」と 言った．
  5. ナオミ は 嫁に 言った． 「生きている 者にも， 死んだ 者にも， 御惠みを 惜しまれない 主が， その 方を 祝福されますように． 」それから， ナオミ は 彼女に 言った． 「その 方は 私たちの 近親者で， しかも 買い 戾しの 權利のある 私たちの 親類のひとりです． 」
  1. Then Ruth the Moabitess said, "He even said to me, 'Stay with my workers until they finish harvesting all my grain.' "
  2. Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, "It will be good for you, my daughter, to go with his girls, because in someone else's field you might be harmed."
  3. So Ruth stayed close to the servant girls of Boaz to glean until the barley and wheat harvests were finished. And she lived with her mother-in-law.
  1. モアブ の 女 ルツ は 言った． 「その 方はまた， 『私のところの 刈り 入れが 全部終わるまで， 私の 若者たちのそばを 離れてはいけない． 』と 私におっしゃいました． 」
  2. ナオミ は 嫁の ルツ に 言った． 「娘よ． あの 方のところの 若い 女たちといっしょに 出かけるのは， けっこうなことです． ほかの 畑でいじめられなくても 濟みます． 」
  3. それで， 彼女は ボアズ のところの 若い 女たちのそばを 離れないで， 大麥の 刈り 入れと 小麥の 刈り 入れの 終わるまで， 落ち 穗を 拾い 集めた． こうして， 彼女はしゅうとめと 暮らした．
