- The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss.
- When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss.
- And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth.
- They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
- They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man.

- 第五の 御使いが ラッパ を 吹き 鳴らした． すると， 私は 一つの 星が 天から 地上に 落ちるのを 見た． その 星には 底知れぬ 穴を 開くかぎが 與えられた．
- その 星が， 底知れぬ 穴を 開くと， 穴から 大きな 爐の 煙のような 煙が 立ち 上り， 太陽も 空も， この 穴の 煙によって 暗くなった．
- その 煙の 中から， いなごが 地上に 出て 來た． 彼らには， 地のさそりの 持つような 力が 與えられた．
- そして 彼らは， 地の 草やすべての 靑草や， すべての 木には 害を 加えないで， ただ， 額に 神の 印を 押されていない 人間にだけ 害を 加えるように 言い 渡された．
- しかし， 人間を 殺すことは 許されず， ただ 五か 月の 間苦しめることだけが 許された． その 與えた 苦痛は， さそりが 人を 刺したときのような 苦痛であった．

- During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.
- The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.
- Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth.
- They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.
- They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.

- その 期間には， 人¿は 死を 求めるが， どうしても 見いだせず， 死を 願うが， 死が 彼らから 逃げて 行くのである．
- そのいなごの 形は， 出陣の 用意の 整った 馬に 似ていた． 頭に 金の 冠のようなものを 着け， 顔は 人間の 顔のようであった．
- また 女の 髮のような 毛があり， 齒は， ししの 齒のようであった．
- また， 鐵の 胸當てのような 胸當てを 着け， その 翼の 音は， 多くの 馬に 引かれた 戰車が， 戰いに 馳せつけるときの 響きのようであった．
- そのうえ 彼らは， さそりのような 尾と 針とを 持っており， 尾には， 五か 月間人間に 害を 加える 力があった．

- They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.
- The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.
- The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God.
- It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."
- And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

- 第一のわざわいは 過ぎ 去った． 見よ． この 後なお 二つのわざわいが 來る．
- 第六の 御使いが ラッパ を 吹き 鳴らした． すると， 私は 神の 御前にある 金の 祭壇の 四隅から 出る 聲を 聞いた．
- その 聲が ラッパ を 持っている 第六の 御使いに 言った． 「大川 ユ ― フラテス のほとりにつながれている 四人の 御使いを 解き 放せ． 」
- すると， 定められた 時， 日， 月， 年のために 用意されていた 四人の 御使いが， 人類の 三分の 一を 殺すために 解き 放された．

- The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million. I heard their number.
- The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur.
- A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.
- The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
- The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood--idols that cannot see or hear or walk.

- 騎兵の 軍勢の 數は 二億であった． 私はその 數を 聞いた．
- 私が 幻の 中で 見た 馬とそれに 乘る 人たちの 樣子はこうであった． 騎兵は， 火のような 赤， くすぶった 靑， 燃える 硫黃の 色の 胸當てを 着けており， 馬の 頭は， ししの 頭のようで， 口からは 火と 煙と 硫黃とが 出ていた．
- これらの 三つの 災害， すなわち， 彼らの 口から 出ている 火と 煙と 硫黃とのために， 人類の 三分の 一は 殺された．
- 馬の 力はその 口とその 尾とにあって， その 尾は 蛇のようであり， それに 頭があって， その 頭で 害を 加えるのである．
- これらの 災害によって 殺されずに 殘った 人¿は， その 手のわざを 悔い 改めないで， 惡靈どもや， 金， 銀， 銅， 石， 木で 造られた， 見ることも 聞くことも 步くこともできない 偶像を 拜み 續け，

- Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

- その 殺人や， 魔術や， 不品行や， 盜みを 悔い 改めなかった．
