	에스라 7:1-8:20 아닥사스다 왕은 조서를 내려 율법 학사 겸 제사장인 에스라와 그의 백성들을 바벨론에서 예루살렘으로 귀환시켰다. 이는 에스라를 중심으로 한 제2차 귀환이었다. 에스라와 함께 귀환한 명단이 유명 가문별 족보로 기록되었다.

	에스라의 귀환(7:1-7:28)

After these things, during the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest-

これらの事の後ペルシャ王アルタシャスタの治世にエズラという者があった．エズラはセラヤの子，セラヤはアザリヤの子，アザリヤはヒルキヤの子，

ヒルキヤはシャルムの子，シャルムはザドクの子，ザドクはアヒトブの子，

アヒトブはアマリヤの子，アマリヤはアザリヤの子，アザリヤはメラヨテの子，

ブッキはアビシュアの子，アビシュアはピネハスの子，ピネハスはエレアザルの子，エレアザルは祭司長アロンの子である．

this Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the LORD, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the LORD his God was on him.

Some of the Israelites, including priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers and temple servants, also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.

Ezra arrived in Jerusalem in the fifth month of the seventh year of the king.

He had begun his journey from Babylon on the first day of the first month, and he arrived in Jerusalem on the first day of the fifth month, for the gracious hand of his God was on him.

For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the LORD, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.

このエズラはバビロンから上って來た．彼はイスラエルの神，主がお授けになったモ ― セの律法に精通した學者であった．その神，主の手が彼の上にあったので，その求めることを王はことごとく許した．

アルタシャスタ王の七年にまたイスラエルの人¿および祭司，レビびと，歌うたう者，門衛，宮に仕えるしもべなどエルサレムに上った．

そして王の七年の五月にエズラはエルサレムに來た．

すなわち正月の一日にバビロンを出立して，五月一日にエルサレムに着いた．その神の惠みの手が彼の上にあったからである．

This is a copy of the letter King Artaxerxes had given to Ezra the priest and teacher, a man learned in matters concerning the commands and decrees of the LORD for Israel:

Artaxerxes, king of kings, To Ezra the priest, a teacher of the Law of the God of heaven: Greetings.

Now I decree that any of the Israelites in my kingdom, including priests and Levites, who wish to go to Jerusalem with you, may go.

You are sent by the king and his seven advisers to inquire about Judah and Jerusalem with regard to the Law of your God, which is in your hand.

Moreover, you are to take with you the silver and gold that the king and his advisers have freely given to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem,

主の戒めの言葉，およびイスラエルに賜わった定めに通じた學者で，祭司であるエズラにアルタシャスタ王の與えた手紙の寫しは，次のとおりである．

「諸王の王アルタシャスタ，天の神の律法の學者である祭司エズラに送る．今，

わたしは命を下す．わが國のうちにいるイスラエルの民およびその祭司，レビびとのうち，すべてエルサレムへ行こうと望む者は皆，あなたと共に行くことができる．

あなたは，自分の手にあるあなたの神の律法に照して，ユダとエルサレムの事情を調べるために，王および七人の議官によってつかわされるのである．

かつあなたは王およびその議官らが，エルサレムにいますイスラエルの神に眞心からささげる銀と金を携え，

together with all the silver and gold you may obtain from the province of Babylon, as well as the freewill offerings of the people and priests for the temple of their God in Jerusalem.

With this money be sure to buy bulls, rams and male lambs, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings, and sacrifice them on the altar of the temple of your God in Jerusalem.

You and your brother Jews may then do whatever seems best with the rest of the silver and gold, in accordance with the will of your God.

Deliver to the God of Jerusalem all the articles entrusted to you for worship in the temple of your God.

And anything else needed for the temple of your God that you may have occasion to supply, you may provide from the royal treasury.

またバビロン全州であなたが獲るすべての金銀，および民と祭司とが，エルサレムにあるその神の宮のために，眞心からささげた供え物を携えて行く．

それであなたはその金をもって雄牛，雄羊，小羊およびその素祭と灌祭の品¿を氣をつけて買い，エルサレムにあるあなたがたの神の宮の祭壇の上に，これをささげなければならない．

また，あなたとあなたの兄弟たちが，その余った金銀でしようと思うよい事があるならば，あなたがたの神のみ旨に從ってそれを行え．

またあなたの神の宮の勤め事のためにあなたが與えられた器は，エルサレムの神の前に納めよ．

そのほかあなたの神の宮のために用うべき必要なものがあれば，それを王の倉から出して用いよ．

Now I, King Artaxerxes, order all the treasurers of Trans-Euphrates to provide with diligence whatever Ezra the priest, a teacher of the Law of the God of heaven, may ask of you-

up to a hundred talents of silver, a hundred cors of wheat, a hundred baths of wine, a hundred baths of olive oil, and salt without limit.

Whatever the God of heaven has prescribed, let it be done with diligence for the temple of the God of heaven. Why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and of his sons?

You are also to know that you have no authority to impose taxes, tribute or duty on any of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants or other workers at this house of God.

And you, Ezra, in accordance with the wisdom of your God, which you possess, appoint magistrates and judges to administer justice to all the people of Trans-Euphrates--all who know the laws of your God. And you are to teach any who do not know them.

われ，アルタシャスタ王は川向こうの州のすべての倉づかさに命を下して言う，『天の神の律法の學者である祭司エズラがあなたがたに求める事は，すべてこれを心して行え．

すなわち銀は百タラントまで，小麥は百コルまで，ぶどう酒は百バテまで，油は百バテまで，鹽は制限なく與えよ．

天の神の宮のために，天の神の命じるところは，すべて正しくこれを行え．そうしないと神の怒りが，王と王の子らの國に臨むであろう』．

われわれは，またあなたがたに告げる，『祭司，レビびと，歌うたう者，門衛，宮に仕えるしもべ，および神のこの宮の仕えびとたちには，みつぎ，租稅，稅金を課してはならぬ』．

エズラよ，あなたはあなたの手にある神の知惠によって，つかさおよび裁判人を立て，川向こうの州のすべての民，すなわちあなたの神の律法を知っている者たちを，ことごとくさばかせよ．あなたがたはまたこれを知らない者を敎えよ．

Whoever does not obey the law of your God and the law of the king must surely be punished by death, banishment, confiscation of property, or imprisonment.

Praise be to the LORD, the God of our fathers, who has put it into the king's heart to bring honor to the house of the LORD in Jerusalem in this way

and who has extended his good favor to me before the king and his advisers and all the king's powerful officials. Because the hand of the LORD my God was on me, I took courage and gathered leading men from Israel to go up with me.

あなたの神の律法および王の律法を守らない者を，きびしくその罪に定めて，あるいは死刑に，あるいは追放に，あるいは財産¿收に，あるいは投獄に處せよ」．

われわれの先祖の神，主はほむべきかな．主はこのように，王の心に，エルサレムにある主の宮を飾る心を起させ，

These are the family heads and those registered with them who came up with me from Babylon during the reign of King Artaxerxes:

of the descendants of Phinehas, Gershom; of the descendants of Ithamar, Daniel; of the descendants of David, Hattush

of the descendants of Shecaniah; of the descendants of Parosh, Zechariah, and with him were registered 150 men;

of the descendants of Pahath-Moab, Eliehoenai son of Zerahiah, and with him 200 men;

of the descendants of Zattu, Shecaniah son of Jahaziel, and with him 300 men;

アルタシャスタ王の治世に，バビロンからわたしと一緖に上って來た者の氏族の長，およびその系譜は次のとおりである．

ピネハスの子孫のうちではゲルショム．イタマルの子孫のうちではダニエル．ダビデの子孫のうちではシカニヤの子ハットシ．

パロシの子孫のうちではゼカリヤおよび彼と共に系譜に載せられた男百五十人．

パハテ · モアブの子孫のうちではゼラヒヤの子エリヨエナイおよび彼と共にある男二百人．

of the descendants of Adin, Ebed son of Jonathan, and with him 50 men;

of the descendants of Elam, Jeshaiah son of Athaliah, and with him 70 men;

of the descendants of Shephatiah, Zebadiah son of Michael, and with him 80 men;

of the descendants of Joab, Obadiah son of Jehiel, and with him 218 men;

of the descendants of Bani, Shelomith son of Josiphiah, and with him 160 men;

アデンの子孫のうちではヨナタンの子エベデおよび彼と共にある男五十人．

エラムの子孫のうちではアタリヤの子エサヤおよび彼と共にある男七十人．

シパテヤの子孫のうちではミカエルの子ゼバデヤおよび彼と共にある男八十人．

ヨアブの子孫のうちではエヒエルの子オバデヤおよび彼と共にある男二百十八人．

バニの子孫のうちではヨシピアの子シロミテおよび彼と共にある男百六十人．

of the descendants of Bebai, Zechariah son of Bebai, and with him 28 men;

of the descendants of Azgad, Johanan son of Hakkatan, and with him 110 men;

of the descendants of Adonikam, the last ones, whose names were Eliphelet, Jeuel and Shemaiah, and with them 60 men;

of the descendants of Bigvai, Uthai and Zaccur, and with them 70 men.

I assembled them at the canal that flows toward Ahava, and we camped there three days. When I checked among the people and the priests, I found no Levites there.

ベバイの子孫のうちではベバイの子ゼカリヤおよび彼と共にある男二十八人．

アズガデの子孫のうちではハッカタンの子ヨハナンおよび彼と共にある男百十人．

So I summoned Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah and Meshullam, who were leaders, and Joiarib and Elnathan, who were men of learning,

and I sent them to Iddo, the leader in Casiphia. I told them what to say to Iddo and his kinsmen, the temple servants in Casiphia, so that they might bring attendants to us for the house of our God.

Because the gracious hand of our God was on us, they brought us Sherebiah, a capable man, from the descendants of Mahli son of Levi, the son of Israel, and Sherebiah's sons and brothers, 18 men;

and Hashabiah, together with Jeshaiah from the descendants of Merari, and his brothers and nephews, 20 men.

They also brought 220 of the temple servants--a body that David and the officials had established to assist the Levites. All were registered by name.

人をつかわしてエリエゼル，アリエル，シマヤ，エルナタン，ヤリブ，エルナタン，ナタン，ゼカリヤ，メシュラムという首長たる人¿を招き，またヨヤリブ，およびエルナタンのような見識のある人¿を招いた．
