느헤미야

  본서는 바벨론으로부터의 3차 포로 귀환과 성벽 재건, 선민 이스라엘 백성들의 신앙 회복과 부흥의 역사를 기록하여 언약을 성취하신 신실한 하나님을 증거하고 있다.

  예루살렘 성벽이 훼파된 소식을 들은 느헤미야는 왕의 허락을 받고 귀향하여 에스라와 함께 성벽을 재건한다. 그 후 백성들은 수문 광장에 모여 에스라가 읽는 율법을 듣고 자신과 조상의 죄를 회개하고 율법을 지킬 것을 맹세한다. 그러나 느헤미야가 유다 총독으로 12년간 업무를 관장하다가 바벨론을 다녀온 사이 백성들은 다시 죄악의 길에 빠졌고, 이를 발견한 느헤미야가 대대적인 개혁을 단행한다.

 

 

느헤미야 1:1-2:20

 아닥사스다 왕의 술 맡은 관원인 느헤미야는 예루살렘 성이 훼파되고, 이스라엘 백성들은 능욕을 받는다는 비참한 소식을 듣고 하나님께 금식하며 기도드렸다. 아닥사스다 왕은 느헤미야의 고민을 듣고 조서를 내려 느헤미야에게 예루살렘에 가도록 허락하였다. 예루살렘에 도착한 느헤미야는 밤중에 예루살렘 성벽의 참담한 상황을 확인한 후, 이스라엘 백성들에게 성벽 중건을 호소하였다.
  
  느헤미야의 첫번째 귀국(1:1-2:20)    
 
  1. The words of Nehemiah son of Hacaliah: In the month of Kislev in the twentieth year, while I was in the citadel of Susa,
  2. Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem.
  3. They said to me, "Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire."
  4. When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.
  5. Then I said: "O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands,
  1. ハカリヤ の 子 ネヘミヤ の 言葉． 第二十年の キスレウ の 月に， わたしが 首都 スサ にいた 時，
  2. わたしの 兄弟のひとり ハナニ が 數人の 者と 共に ユダ から 來たので， わたしは 捕囚を 免れて 生き 殘った ユダヤ 人の 事および エルサレム の 事を 尋ねた．
  3. 彼らはわたしに 言った， 「かの 州で 捕囚を 免れて 生き 殘った 者は 大いなる 惱みと， はずかしめのうちにあり， エルサレム の 城壁はくずされ， その 門は 火で 燒かれたままであります 」と．
  4. わたしはこれらの 言葉を 聞いた 時， すわって 泣き， 數日のあいだ 嘆き 悲しみ， 斷食して 天の 神の 前に 祈って，
  5. 言った， 「天の 神， 主， おのれを 愛し， その 戒めを 守る 者には 契約を 守り， いつくしみを 施される 大いなる 恐るべき 神よ，
  1. let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father's house, have committed against you.
  2. We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.
  3. "Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations,
  4. but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.'
  5. "They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand.
  1. どうぞ 耳を 傾け， 目を 開いてしもべの 祈を 聞いてください． わたしは 今， あなたのしもべである イスラエル の 子孫のために， ¿も 夜もみ 前に 祈り， われわれ イスラエル の 子孫が， あなたに 對して 犯した 罪をざんげいたします． まことにわたしも， わたしの 父の 家も 罪を 犯しました．
  2. われわれはあなたに 對して 大いに 惡い 事を 行い， あなたのしもべ モ ― セ に 命じられた 戒めをも， 定めをも， おきてをも 守りませんでした．
  3. どうぞ， あなたのしもべ モ ― セ に 命じられた 言葉を， 思い 起してください． すなわちあなたは 言われました， 『もしあなたがたが 罪を 犯すならば， わたしはあなたがたを， もろもろの 民の 間に 散らす．
  4. しかし， あなたがたがわたしに 立ち 返り， わたしの 戒めを 守って， これを 行うならば， たといあなたがたのうちの 散らされた 者が， 天の 果にいても， わたしはそこから 彼らを 集め， わたしの 名を 住まわせるために 選んだ 所に 連れて 來る 』と．
  5. 彼らは， あなたが 大いなる 力と 强い 手をもって， あがなわれたあなたのしもべ， あなたの 民です．
  1. O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man." I was cupbearer to the king.
  1. 主よ， どうぞしもべの 祈と， あなたの 名を 恐れることを 喜ぶあなたのしもべらの 祈に 耳を 傾けてください． どうぞ， きょう， しもべを 惠み， この 人の 目の 前であわれみを 得させてください 」． この 時， わたしは 王の 給仕役であった．
 
 
  1. In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before;
  2. so the king asked me, "Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart." I was very much afraid,
  3. but I said to the king, "May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?"
  4. The king said to me, "What is it you want?" Then I prayed to the God of heaven,
  5. and I answered the king, "If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my fathers are buried so that I can rebuild it."
  1. アルタシャスタ 王の 第二十年， ニサン の 月に， 王の 前に 酒が 出た 時， わたしは 酒をついで 王にささげた． これまでわたしは 王の 前で 悲しげな 顔をしていたことはなかった．
  2. 王はわたしに 言われた， 「あなたは 病氣でもないのにどうして 悲しげな 顔をしているのか． 何か 心に 悲しみをもっているにちがいない 」． そこでわたしは 大いに 恐れて，
  3. 王に 申しあげた， 「どうぞ 王よ， 長生きされますように． わたしの 先祖の 墳墓の 地であるあの 町は 荒廢し， その 門が 火で 燒かれたままであるのに， どうしてわたしは 悲しげな 顔をしないでいられましょうか 」．
  4. 王はわたしにむかって， 「それでは， あなたは 何を 願うのか 」と 言われたので， わたしは 天の 神に 祈って，
  5. 王に 申しあげた， 「もし 王がよしとされ， しもべがあなたの 前に 惠みを 得ますならば， どうかわたしを， ユダ にあるわたしの 先祖の 墳墓の 町につかわして， それを 再建させてください 」．
  1. Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, "How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?" It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.
  2. I also said to him, "If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah?
  3. And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the king's forest, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?" And because the gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests.
  4. So I went to the governors of Trans-Euphrates and gave them the king's letters. The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.
  5. When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.
  1. 時に 王妃もかたわらに 座していたが， 王はわたしに 言われた， 「あなたの 旅の 期間はどれほどですか． いつごろ 歸ってきますか 」． こうして 王がわたしをつかわすことをよしとされたので， わたしは 期間を 定めて 王に 申しあげた．
  2. わたしはまた 王に 申しあげた， 「もし 王がよしとされるならば， 川向こうの 州の 知事たちに 與える 手紙をわたしに 賜わり， わたしが ユダ に 行きつくまで， 彼らがわたしを 通過させるようにしてください．
  3. また 王の 山林を 管理する アサフ に 與える 手紙をも 賜わり， 神殿に 屬する 城の 門を 建てるため， また 町の 石がき， およびわたしの 住むべき 家を 建てるために 用いる 材木をわたしに 與えるようにしてください 」． わたしの 神がよくわたしを 助けられたので， 王はわたしの 願いを 許された．
  4. そこでわたしは 川向こうの 州の 知事たちの 所へ 行って， 王の 手紙を 渡した． なお 王は 軍の 長および 騎兵をわたしと 共につかわした．
  5. ところが ホロニ びと サンバラテ および アンモン びと 奴隷 トビヤ はこれを 聞き， イスラエル の 子孫の 福祉を 求める 人が 來たというので， 大いに 感情を 害した．
  1. I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days
  2. I set out during the night with a few men. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on.
  3. By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire.
  4. Then I moved on toward the Fountain Gate and the King's Pool, but there was not enough room for my mount to get through;
  5. so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall. Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate.
  1. わたしは エルサレム に 着いて， そこに 三日滯在した 後，
  2. 夜中に 起き 出た． 數人の 者がわたしに 伴ったが， わたしは， 神が エルサレム のためになそうとして， わたしの 心に 入れられたことを， だれにも 告げ 知らせず， またわたしが 乘った ¿のほかには， ¿をつれて 行かなかった．
  3. わたしは 夜中に 出て 谷の 門を 通り， 龍の 井戶および 糞の 門に 行って， エルサレム のくずれた 城壁や， 火に 燒かれた 門を 調査し，
  4. また 泉の 門および 王の 池に 行ったが， わたしの 乘っている ¿の 通るべき 所もなかった．
  5. わたしはまたその 夜のうちに 谷に 沿って 上り， 城壁を 調査したうえ， 身をめぐらして， 谷の 門を 通って 歸った．
  1. The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, because as yet I had said nothing to the Jews or the priests or nobles or officials or any others who would be doing the work.
  2. Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace."
  3. I also told them about the gracious hand of my God upon me and what the king had said to me. They replied, "Let us start rebuilding." So they began this good work.
  4. But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. "What is this you are doing?" they asked. "Are you rebelling against the king?"
  5. I answered them by saying, "The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it."
  1. つかさたちは， わたしがどこへ 行ったか， 何をしたかを 知らなかった． わたしはまた ユダヤ 人にも， 祭司たちにも， 尊い 人たちにも， つかさたちにも， その 他工事をする 人¿にもまだ 知らせなかった．
  2. しかしわたしはついに 彼らに 言った， 「あなたがたの 見るとおり， われわれは 難局にある． エルサレム は 荒廢し， その 門は 火に 燒かれた． さあ， われわれは 再び 世のはずかしめをうけることのないように， エルサレム の 城壁を 築こう 」．
  3. そして， わたしの 神がよくわたしを 助けられたことを 彼らに 告げ， また 王がわたしに 語られた 言葉をも 告げたので， 彼らは「さあ， 立ち 上がって 築こう 」と 言い， 奮い 立って， この 良きわざに 着手しようとした．
  4. ところが ホロニ びと サンバラテ ， アンモン びと 奴隷 トビヤ および アラビヤ びと ガシム がこれを 聞いて， われわれをあざけり， われわれを 侮って 言った， 「あなたがたは 何をするのか， 王に 反逆しようとするのか 」．
  5. わたしは 彼らに 答えて 言った， 「天の 神がわれわれを 惠まれるので， そのしもべであるわれわれは 奮い 立って 築くのである． しかしあなたがたは エルサレム に 何の 分もなく， 權利もなく， 記念もない 」．
